Awesome video! I started asking a couple of questions in the comments before finishing the video, and you ended up answering both those questions. I've never spearfished and just got a Mares Viper Pro World Champion 100 in a trade. It's set up with the reel line directly to the shooting line with a swivel and was wondering if I needed a bungee, and I was also wondering whether it was ok to double wrap and have the reel line going over the line release. Thanks for clarifying both!
Many do tie direct to the spear because you can then have single or double wrap, you decide what you need. Another option, when shooting very close like in a cave, you can set up with no line going back to the line release. This enables you to pull back on the spear to get the fish away from the cave. The only disadvantage with this method is that there is no way to disconnect the spear without cutting the shooting line. It's a good option to sometimes be able to push the spear right through the fish and pull the line out then re connect.
Hi, wheres the best place to order either of the line guides? USA option please. Thanks for a great gun! Just got my snapper 1100 in the mail. I must say it is pretty epic!
I have the tuna reel gun and I cut the shaft line by mistake . Can I still use the same reel line and attach it to the shaft? I have the rob allen spectra line for reel would it work
I would say so as long as it's a good knot and u still wrap the shooting line like normal. But keep in mind if there no clip and u can't get the shaft out u will have to untie/cut the knot
@@lxSouthParkxl OK just to be clear, the slip knot between the end of the reel line and the join to the mono shooting line? There are 2 options here, single wrap and double wrap.
@@lxSouthParkxl We did a load test long time back and the double wrap protected the mono better. I do remember the mono broke both times before the Dyneema but the double wrap did allow the mono to only break at a much higher load. I will do both and video it this time, not sure when it will go up but it is on the list, thanks for the suggestion.
Hi Rob do you know the diameters of the vecta2 handle please? I got a cuttlefish barrel on the way with 26mm inner and 30mm outer diameter and want to get the vecta 2 handle with the vecta reel attached on it but unsure if it will fit? Any help would be highly appreciated!
Im looking to upgrade from my ab biller 36 special to one of your rob allen carbon tunas but I'm not sure what size would be best for me. Want to hunt Cobia tuna wahoo. Will be using the band pull assit to help since I'm short armed. Pls help
@@RobAllenSpearfishing to avoid the dyneema line to be twisted on itself = becoming a difficult line to use after it is twisted // to avoid the reel line ( nylon ) to be bent to a point where the line is difficult to be not pinch out ( damaged ) especially if pinched out before the sleeve on the mechanism side ...( difficult to reload in the trigger ) ! any way this is not a critics as i always load a Pigtail swivel on any from my brand spearguns , but a point you should consider ...
@@z1tazzz we fit clips with swivels as standard but some chose to remove. Yes it can twist up occasionally but I don't see it as a problem. If there is twisting, just let the spear hang a moment to untwist.
@@robertrodriguez391 Sorry, I don't understand the question? This was done 8 years ago, I can't seem to fine where I may has used that term, please elaborate.
@@RobAllenSpearfishing yeah fair enough! Alex The Truths comment " No sense of a bungee when having a reel with advance - it will shocked absorb better than bungee anyway." I wanted to understand What his comment meant that you agree with. That's all :)
Hi Robert, I saw a response from you but it did not show here? All good, I should have read the above response to see what you were referring to. I assume "A reel in advance." means it will act like a bungee and let out line "advancing" the line in the same direction the spear is pulling when fired. I agreed more to eliminate the bungee as well because it is just another link in a chain. The bungee is there to keep tension on the shooting line but now the reel can be adjusted to do the same.
Useless video... talked about wverything except on how to attach reel to gun... do you drill screw holes on to the gun? Wont that damage gun? How do you do it without damaging gun? Disapointed
