Aloha your rubber is the best, i use one 9/16 black 17.5 inches on my 90 stretched to the max 37.5 inch to the 2nd notch on my Rob Allen shaft (strongest shaft. i always pound some big rocks😢 constantly n doesnt bend at the barb hole like most others n no need double check at stores cause yours is always stays straight through shippin) I swear if i dont dive for a year then take it out of icebox its jus as good when i last used it, doesnt even show cracking at the tied wishbone👍 #1 tank u I only use one rubber on my 90 n only yours can bring it up to speed, others not elastic enough Mahalo keith

What is the solid black rubber that comes on the Timberline Roller?
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing 4 месяца назад
It is also dipped, we do not use any extruded rubber.

@@RobAllenSpearfishing I was wondering what it's called?, I wanted to buy more for my other RA Rollers, this black rubber is good or maybe it's just the Timberline that makes it seem faster XD
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing 4 месяца назад
@@texavon6168 the full black does seem to be a little stiffer. With every batch there can be a slight difference.

What actually causes shaft whip? The rear end of the spear or shaft accelerating faster than the point, causing the shaft to flex. This results in the overall power being limited by how rigid the spear is? I've seen online forums also theorize that its the flex of the actual barrel, but I honestly doubt it, because we still see shaft whip in carbon barrels
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing 4 месяца назад
I believe shaft whip is from barrel flex. If a gun is powered way up there will be a little barrel flex. Less so with carbon but still there is some. I will demonstrate this soon in a video with a laser. It can be the muzzle chopping down with a barrel with a lot of flex but I have just thought about another possible issue. The stiffer carbon barrels still have a minor flex when loaded. The spear will lay in the rail and take the shape of the rail. As you fire it, the barrel will straighten as soon as the load is taken off. This will bump the spear upwards as it's leaving the gun, enough to cause the shaft to now wobble. I do recall about a 60mm height difference of a laser light, when lining it up on a 1300 carbon gun while the laser was clamped to the gun handle. I had the gun clamped in a vise and the laser light was shining on a wall about 4m away.

@@RobAllenSpearfishing Looking forward to seeing the video. Maybe also see if the same happens in rollers or if it is just people over powering the spearing.
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing 4 месяца назад
@@JSJ-mn8wg With rollers, the load is in both directions while loaded. But, as soon as you pull the trigger that changes as the load in now moving. Due to there being a single rubber and the barrel is not under any flex I think any barrel movement will be very small, not something easy to show when firing.

How`d the loony bot end up on your channel in the comments? reported him so hopefully that rids everyone from that. on the topic of rubbers, dipped all the way. I own a 900 roller you guys made for me, with that in mind, can you run tests on performance and accuracy should someone decide to go with bigger rubbers, shorter/longer etc, the temptation is always there to go with the bigger rubbers if your used to a standard TUNA or something like that - you can see how someone may wonder if its a good idea to replace the roller rubbers with 16+ mm rubbers instead thinking it would perform better and be stronger
@RobAllenSpearfishing
@RobAllenSpearfishing 4 месяца назад
Thanks for that, I reported and blocked. Re performance, we have run many tests and have a video up on it. At the end of the day, the rubber can only contract at a specific speed (many variables here). The best is to get the spear up to max speed as late as possible for the best performance. The problem with powering it up more, will just get the spear up to max speed sooner, therefore increasing the recoil and reducing your accuracy. With a roller correctly set up, that max speed will be just before the spear leaves the barrel. This is because the rubber can push/drive the spear all the way to the end. This long, slow push is why the recoil is so much less. With a standard non-roller double rubber gun, the spear will reach max speed about half way down the track. This massive increase of acceleration will increase the recoil massively. This added recoil can also cause the muzzle to kick up a little and "tap" the back of the spear as it exits, making the spear wobble during its flight, adding more drag therefore slowing the spear down sooner.

Este não deveria ser o caso. Infelizmente a borracha se deteriora dependendo de como é armazenada. É possível que a borracha que você está usando agora seja antiga. This should not be the case. Unfortunately rubber does deteriate depending how it is stored. It is possible thew rubber you are using now is old stock.

Dipped has been a problem for me. Terribly inconsistent.
@DeepBlueSpirit2
@DeepBlueSpirit2 4 месяца назад

@davidkoba
@davidkoba 4 месяца назад
@@DeepBlueSpirit2 the tollerances on thickness is greater. Sometimes the rubber is stiffer and thicker. Extruded rubbers are much more consistent and cheaper.

@@davidkoba Stiffer is normally due to age and or heat during storage. Unfortunately due to the fact latex is a natural product it will slowly change over time. Fresh/newly made dipped is soft. Many sell this as the "less reactive," said to be better for rollers but...the older it gets the more it cures, the more reactive/stiff it becomes. The diameter can vary pending how it drys. I think during drying (heat treatment) it will loose up to 30% of its diameter. We are going to do a pool test with the best extruded rubber against extruded rubber to compare spear speeds.
@davidkoba
@davidkoba 4 месяца назад
@@RobAllenSpearfishing The storage/age of the rubber is not the cause of the inconsistency. It is the diameter of the rubber. The same batch of rubber gave me different stretches. One set cut from the same batch was so off it didn't even fit in my hatch ulua series (he drills the holes tight).

@@davidkoba Suppliers show there can be a variation in their dimensions, these ore very small. If the variation exceeds in the dimensions stated it should be returned as it is not to spec.
