Rob Machado & Pete Mendia in Peru. Took the train to Macchu Picu. Wove baskets in the floating village of Titicaca. And even surfed the ancient Peruvian reed matt. SUBSCRIBE to The Momentum Files for journeys to an ancient land.
Nothing like Peru, I lived there for a year, surfed almost everyday. In the lineup theres folks from 8-80 , I was gifted a new custom board there ,Klimax by local shaper in Lima ,love it! Machu Picchu is spiritual, the country is beautiful, looking forward to return trip...

I really believe that this kind of movie, showing other cultures than west culture, will help to understand and not to judge cultures which believe that it is not about money but to live and respect the others in each particular way.
Beautiful film Taylor. Thank you for sharing. How cool would it be for you & Rob to go back there to see those locals in this film? Wonder if they would remember you?? And if so, how would they celebrate your return? 🐐 Great surf in Peru it amazes me that more pro’s don't make the trek down there. Would be nice to see new landscape & waves in all the surf mags. Thanks again for sharing all your amazing films.
@Riley Turner good afternoon from puerto Rico just came out of the water john john is great, but Rob surfing style is just above the rest, no effort he becomes one on the water...gracias 🤙
Machado is no hippie ~ he's a surfer... much more of a surfer than most because he has a very relaxed style and personality. Hippies are very nieve and self righteous. I don't get that from Machado... He's very meek and gracious and calm... not as competitive or money greedy. I'd rather watch Machado surf than almost anyone else (in modern style) Nice movie ~
@BC Bob Yeah dude the fimmaker and the surfer have done that a few times. The film from India had a muted light to it.I dont know if it was natural to that area or it was an artificial effect which made it more art, than most of the surf Vlogs on RU-vid.
Sorry, calling a reed boat traversing whitewash to the shore “surfing” is as ridiculous as Thor Heyerdahl’s Kon Tiki. Polynesians used celestial navigation and Hawaiian surfing was deliberate and especially recreational
Perú, land of beautiful endless waves, sacred and wise mountains, indomitable jungles and beautiful, strong, resilient people. I was born there, live there and never quite understood the nationalism. Perú is a land, a place on earth that's lived between abundance and scarcity. I'm very grateful of being able to surf everyday, many diferente waves, going to the mountains and watch immensity. Thank god, pachamama and mamacocha for your live.
Mr Machado has always been one of my all-time favorite Surfers I go back to the early 90s. It's like watching a cat surf. So much Style and grace. Don't know the man but he seems like a really good person. Definitely one of my favorite Surfers of all time. Right there with Occy and Lopez. Tom Curran. All of those guys had a lot of flow and style.
When you get on a thruster you can still do the business. .intrresting to watch the transformation from a twinny My take assy though us quite consistent: you surf the wave! Not smash it, rip it, tear it, dismember it You flow and do what feels good and it ends up looking good too. Nice to watch. Thanks Rob. Peace and love
