Watched Rob & Justin grow up surfing Cardiff Reef, Moonlight, Pipes, Stone Steps, and Grandview. Rob was always the ultimate soul surfer, smooth as silk. He's gotta be 50 yrs old now and the absolute nicest guy on the planet. And as always, the smile. Thanks for the memories Rob, you are the best ambassador for the art of surfing in the world.
felt the same way filming it. sometimes you get to see people who are just on a whole other level with surfing. they almost know what the wave is going to do before it even breaks. was at Lowers doing water photos once on a fun swell and Slater showed up. can't even begin to describe to you what it is like watching him surf coming at you and cranking turns directly in front of your camera. pretty surreal. message me on my IG Alan and I will send you an epic water shot I got of him from that session.
Love his style. Rob shows you how to work with the wave. No need to fling arms about like i see so many surfers doing trying way too hard to turn the board. No aggression. Rob is in a perfect harmony with each wave.
I can remember Rob surfing years ago, he was in his teens, and he's still the smoothest surfer I've ever seen, some things never change, nice to see, that had to be 40 years ago when I was still in San Diego
Always loved the way Rob surfs put him on a twin and it's a pleasure to watch I liked how he held his board with one hand and knifed through the incoming waves he was already in the zone
Agree 100%. Surfing is, above all else, a love affair with the ocean, and Rob personifies that. No tricks. Doesn't try to "dominate" the wave. It's a respectful conversation.
super smooth and totally in tune with his board and what the wave is going to do. excellent transitions between maneuvers. thanks for watching Mike, hope you check out some of the other videos and subscribe.
If I were you I would add footage from other surfers on the same day. That will bring a huge contrast to Rob's obvious mastery... it will make it even more evident, palpable and enjoyable
yeah I add all the others in the previous video before this one in the RAW footage session. Rob's session was just so good it commanded doing its own edit. Thanks Luciano for watching, check out the previous one to see the other people.
Oh yeah, just one of those amazing rippable days. Thanks so much for watching the video and taking the time to comment. Appreciate your subscription as well.
I know Nils. Its pretty remarkable his agility and flow. Such a natural talent. Awesome to watch him surf in person. Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope you subscribed to the channel.
@@SLAWTVvideos it looks great but seaside is amazing in small surf. If you got the money it’s probably awesome. I just don’t see how it beats a seaside .
I surf the same break and I’ve been surfing there since 1973, nobody flows or generates speed like Rob. There are a lot of good surfers there including groms but Rob is a different level of flow
100% agree. tons of great surfers there. Rob is in a whole different level. he sees the end of the wave at the start. just flows through the whole thing. i appreciate you checking out the video. thanks so much.
Don’t forget Jeremy Summerville, Shane Stoneman and Paul Roach. We were all ripping Palisades when the parking lot was dirt and muddy, that’s when Seaside was best. The wave changed so much after they built the new paved lot “twice”, it changed the inside section the most.
So many of the breaks have changed along the San Diego coast. Even back in NJ. There are jetties breaking now that didn't break for almost 25-30 years. Coastline always changing.
Yeah it is pretty incredible what he is able to do. Makes it seem effortless. Thanks for watching and hope you decide to subscribe to the channel and check out our other videos.
well it is also a head high day at a mild flat bottom reef break, to be realistic. it is a little different than the waves Kelly is riding on tour, also not in the pressure of a contest, and not trying to boost airs at Pipe and Backdoor..
yeah I wish I could just use any song I want, but there is this pesky thing called copyright infringement and youtube is not really stoked when you do that. So instead of getting a copyright claim or strike on my channel I opted for the limited selection of royalty free music. But you could alway go into your iTunes play whatever song you like and rewatch it again. Haha. JK. Thanks though. Appreciate you checking out the video.
DONO HOW HE GET THIS FLOW LIKE A CAT - MAKE IT LOOKS EASY AND NORMAL - THEN YOU GO ON YOUR BOARD AND YOU STRUGGEL AS HELL HAHA WHAT I NOTICE A LOT OF HIS MOVEMENT STARTING FROM THE SHOLDER S MOVMENT THEN THE BOARD FOLLOW ,,, NO HARD LEG JOBS GREAT
would be nice to use classic and mainstream songs, but RU-vid doesn't really like. they kinda do this thing called Copyright claims and strikes. So all I have is whats available in Royalty Free music. thanks for watching though.
