Another classical dance, this one is called Apsara, which are these heavenly beings who are in a garden picking flowers together with main Apsara (the one in white). Very nice hope you like it ; )
I read that the ancient Khmer Apsara had influenced most other Southeast Asian classical dancing styles. The movements seem somewhat similar to many old dances in Indonesia and the southern Philippines. Interesting stuff! Thanks for uploading! ^_^
Anak1! Your observation skills are fantastic! Southern most part of the Philippines is indeed heavily influenced by Indonesian hand formations in dance as well as our Languege, Tagalog which is also hevily influenced of Malaysia and Indonesia. We are practically Ancestral Cousins. ^_^ Oh sorry, I am Filipino. Haa haa I should know. ^o^
The ramthai video is actually Rabam Lopburi. Lopburi is in Thailand but during the 12th century it was under the rising Angkor regime and became one of the most important centers in the Chao Phraya basin. Because it was ruled by the Khmer empire, that is the reason why the dance style and costume is similar, it was said that the style was taking from the stone carvings of the temple after the Apsara in Cambodian or Achara in Thai meaning angels or celestial beings.
This is what makes it stand out in all parts of South Asia, dances have crowns but none are as beautiful as the Aspara Crowns. ^_^ well in my opinion. ^_^
i'm so glad to be khmer..i have great culture and art especially classical dance. our culture have lived on til tis day for over a thousand and now its up to us the next generation it on so it can live eternity.
im so tired of crap being thrown from thais to khmer and from khmer to thais. i' ve been trying to calm things down but i only get sad by all that i get to read... i even considered stop watching dance clips... which i cant. i love this dance, i looooove the singing. peace and prosperity to cambodia. peace and prosperity to thailand. im half thai (khon isaan) and swedish.
theyre speaking cambodian. cultures in that area are similar but this is a cambodian dance, no doubt because ill be performing it in 2 weeks! im using this video to practice
i use common sense everyday of my life and like ive mentioned before there is a light and dark side well from my perspective everywhere in the world there is good and evil
like in every other nation on earth their is the beauty and the dark side i would like to go to cambodia but its too expensive and as a traveler everywhere even here in my hometown i got to watch out but im not saying cambodia is a bad place or anything like that from the images ive seen its looks enchanting and mythical someday when im in a good economic state i will visit and learn about their culture
Because if negetive remarks will continue to be spoken or written, then of course there will be no progress if both sides refuse to just let the bad things be, and actually move on. But with your insight of which I have read I really do see your point. So what has been done so far? I would like to know more if I can? Thanks again for your time.
Angkor city may be a bit old. Just let you know Siamese people, we Khmer we never forget who we are. KHMER PRIDE , THE KHMER EMPIRE ( ANGKOR ) I'm prod to be Khmer ( khorm ) Kampuchea or Cambodia. WE'RE KHMER ,WE STAND
What are the apsara crowns made of to make them heavy and worth more than $800? Furthermore, how can individual dancers in Cambodia afford them (I mean, that's a great sum for many in the US), unless they borrow them from rich patrons? Just curious, that's all...
To KoneAngkor. Well I honestly see your point. But I am sure that things will turn out for the best. Not all Thai's wish harm against their roots of which they are aware comes from Cambodia. Its again Politics that has ruined people in High Places to do such things. Again not all Thais are of evil intent. Although this is unfortunate, but with help of "positive" intervention and education of what is really happening. Things can final change.
Can we stop with the Thai Vs. Khmer? stop saying that either dance is better. if you keep arguing, the more hate you will create between the two. Accept the cultural differences and keep an open mind.
@wolf147895623 UNESCO listed Cambodian dance as world heritage because Thai is a copy from Cambodian. Siam lost WWII changing to Thai hiding its shame when France sacked Bangkok.
You have a point, But Thailand is not the only Country guilty of this. Other Cultures out there have done so acordingly or probrably worse. And you still not have answerd my question. But thats alright. Again pointing Fingers at the wrong people should not be honed upon. Those responsible are those in charge of History. Scollars. Life is a Circle, so what harm has been caused will only return to those who did it. Eventually the truth will be shown. And when it does... :-D
Thats a real rude thing to say. Besides all of south east Asia's dances are hevily influenced by India. Would you say that Cambodian is a butchered version of Indian hand formations. No, because each Culture in Asia, are all linked together one way or another. Be it through Foods, Dances, or way of living.
Khom is another word for Khmer back in Thailand long ago. Thai say it different, but they know ,but playing the dumb game to manipulate younger generation of cover up.
