Paul knows so much about the development of the RS500’s. As we know, these cars continued racing in Australia, into ‘92. I’ve always wondered if there were any tentative plans to race the Sapphire Cosworth. The car had a decent career in Group A rallying - and the 4WD would’ve been beneficial against the R32 GTR.

Trackstar works unit was next door to me where I worked, in long Crendon bucks , I was a forklift truck driver and used to lift the body shell of that cosworth around on a pallet for the lads that built that , that was 89-90 unbelievable to see the car again ,

This car is the one reason why I ended up doing what I do. The single most important car in my life! I found out it was bought from Zak by a guy 20 mins from me, but gutted to hear that he couldn't afford it. Although he did want to race it, you cant risk the most important RS500 ever to have been built!

You should have asked Paul if he tried to buy the original engine back off the Italian farmer since the Gravitt RS500 arrived back in the UK.

I remember this car at Brands hatch fighting with Rouse when the rouse car had a development turbo on it, Gravitt could get by Rouse but was overtaken on every straight Great great racing

Hi Adam & Paul, guy's what a brilliant video, Paul you are a pleasure to listen to my friend, such detailed explanation literally unparalleled in my experience. I used to work at a Ford main dealer in the 80's and spent many a weekend at Brands Hatch watching these very cars, so an added pleasure to hear the back story from you. Another front running independent RS500 btcc Racer was Dave Brodie BBR Brackley, quite a character who added alot entertainment on and off track. I'm sure Paul is familiar with this car and very distinctive livery.

I know the car , and Dave well , as you say , What a character We were in the drivers meeting at silverstone classic in 2017 , Brodie walked in late , stood at the front looking around the room and said ,, So, who in here is more famous than me , ( everyone started laughing ) then he walked over to Steve Soper , grabbed his head and kissed him on his forehead and said out loud , Its Steeeevie ,, and the whole room just cracked up , and he then sat down next to me and carried on as if nothing had happened A very very funny guy

Maybe you could introduce Adam to make a video at bbr? I will also, I think one of the most all time successful race cars mk1 escort "run baby run" has been restored by Dave. Famous for the gold plated engine components. And the rs500s /sapphire 4wd with the expanding foam race hack... 🤔 Adam the RS videos are this channels bread and butter, love it.. Get back to working on the cossie.

I must admit I didn’t realise Eggenberger supplied so many parts to privateer teams. Always thought they built a handful of factory cars - and that was it. Also wonder where all the other famous BTCC RS500’s are these days. Must be quite a few still hiding away. Oh yeah, it’d also be cool to see Paul’s RS500 replica. See how you go about building a ‘new’ RS500 with reproduction parts.

Can you ask Paul in your next video what his opinion is on the story of No500 rs500. Been told it was a press car and stripped after launch Also been told a manager of Ford had it and it was stolen and written off when quite new. Also..... Been told they never actually badged it and 499 is the last one as they did quite a few press cars so did the 500 without actually selling no 500. Just his opinion would be great please!

Not been to a Rs day for 20 years now and my saph has sat in lockup for past 15 years. The stories I used to hear were varied and ranged from believable to pissed up gossip. Lol
