Robbie Buchanan is one of the main influences in my musical life. He has that signature EP sound that no one has. Actually he has a variety EP sounds.

He, along with Walter Afanasieff have very distinct keyboard sounds. Having been born in 1984, and having been exposed to many different types of music via my parents-namely music like what Robbie had been involved in-it really shaped my own music interests as I was growing up.

I was born in 1980 and heard multiple hits that Robie Buchanan's piano and Dyno-my-Rhodes piano parts accompany. The man's keyboards define some of my favorite songs performed by Laura Branigan, Sergio Mendez, Whitney Houston, Kim Carnes, Linda Ronstadt (by which time he'd likely quit playing his Rhodes) and other credits which I'm probably not fully aware of yet. I especially enjoy te pairing of his keys with Harold Faltermeyer's synthesizers during the Laura Branigan LP Self Control. I didn't know his name as a little kid, but I enjoyed his playing, and I'm glad to take stock in knowing who he is today in the 2010s.
