Along with I Shall Be Released, and also Tears Of Rage & This Wheel’s On Fire (aka the theme to Absolutely Fabulous), this was a Bob Dylan-penned song specifically written for The Band to record and release first. Much the same way that, say, Jack Tempchin wrote Peaceful Easy Feeling for the Eagles. (And no, I’m not comparing Bob’s songwriting to Jack’s, just making a point.)

We all tend to under-appreciate the partnership Bob Dylan benefitted from with Robbie Robertson.
