To anyone that doesn't know about the amateur rule set, it's all about business and pace more so than one off clean shots. That's why Cubans going pro some have a problem with pace slowing it down and not exerting too much energy. And why Americans just adapt so well to the pros. Not Shakurs day but all learning and he definitely has the edge in the pro scene
@@2wavy628 Shakur is my pick to be the next p4p #1 , I remember seeing him fight in the WSB against McCormack English amateur champion from a good boxing family, he displayed all the tools at a young age. Really does remind me of a Floyd/Andre ward style Hybrid.
Well this time the Cuban was landing more and cleaner than Shakur. The kid's good but not so much against quick opponents. I see him having a lot of troubles in the 135 division, too many fighters who hit harder than him and have more speed plus great fundamentals. Haney could be a comfortable match for Shakur but dudes like Tank, Cruz, Garcia, Kambosos and especially Loma going to be a problem for him.
@@bigjunz2716 he’s still fighting he got kod in his pro debut by a unknown boy but he’s still pro he was fighting there a few months ago stopped the Irish boy Eric Donavan honestly I think he should of stayed amateur
@@tysonhustler5775 his next fight is title fight bro.... have you not seen how he's been boxing since his first fight? Or you just hating for the sake of hating?
@@yungzizou3789 IF U WANT TO CALL IT HATING U CAN DNT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE I THINK HES A BUM ITS MY OPINION, JUS LIKE HE WILL LOSE THT TITLE FIGHT , MAKE SURE U REPLY COME FIGHT NIGHT!!
@@erick7704 I’ve only watched old videos on him but I would have to say Laszlo Papp 3 Olympic Golds 301-12-6 record, but I personally liked Ray Leonard, Roy Jones, and Floyd Mayweather as amateurs, but Laszlo Papp’s accomplishments cement him at the top.
Seeing plenty of comments claiming this was a robbery, which is complete nonsense. It was a close, competitive fight which could’ve gone either way, and you could make an argument for both. Don’t shout robbery every time there’s a close fight - it’s not fair on people who are actually robbed.
@@ProjectTenBoxinglost because of stupid judging criteria, Shakur was the way more smarter and effective boxer whereas guy in the blue was a brawler throwing punches in bunches doesn't matter if they landed or not because most of those wild punches were being blocked by Shakur and were landing on his gloves.
Can not wait till they meet again, but this time as professionals! I think Shakur gets it done, if they fight again. He gets better after every single fight! He is the perfect boxer and in my opinion he will be the P4P king in the near future! Shakur Stevenson and Jaron Ennis are taking over boxing!!!
they won't meet. Robeisy wants to clean division which means he's aiming for undisputed. Shakur getting too big and said after Conceicao he's moving up. If they ever meet, it'll be in their mid-to-late 30s... another possibility is people avoiding Robeisy too much he eventually reaches Shakur... And I think Bam Rodriguez overtakes Shakur as P4P king, Bam younger and already has a better resume...
nah ismael salas robeisys trainer said robeisy is already at his max weight 126 he won’t go higher or lower than that class that’s his permanent weight class he admitted shakur is bigger
@@Ryan-qq9qe definitely bro lmao there’s more too come for him aswell so he may take his little jealous ass an hibernate 🤣because shakur is the future p4p king
Estos 2, Ya Son Profesionales de Éste Deporte, y En Mi Opinión, "Deberían Volver a Enfrentarse" Ahora Que Son Ambos Número 1 y Resolver Esta Pelea Inconclusa, de Rio 2016
@@MichaelWilliamsJR its irrelevant, Crawford didn't make the olympics, look at him now. Also, many fighters that did well in the olympics don't do so well in the pros. don't forget, Valdez was an olympian, as was Ugas.I did watch the, fight, I think Shakur lost this. If they fight now, Shakur smokes Ramirez..
@@pocket1684 well I can’t disagree w you on that but I do think this fight was very different than the Mayweather Olympics. I think Floyd one easily. This was a close fight.
He lost fair, but it's a short rounds, some are slow starters. He got blocked and dodged more times, got countered and wasn't winning the exchange. He wasn't outpunching Ramirez, no significant punches landed to favor him to steal the rounds as well. Ramirez was more active. This is how you fight Shakur, you can't reach/hit him when he moves out of your range or defending in the pocket, but you can hit him during exchange when he's throwing as he gets opened and get in your range, no one can slip all punches during exchange. But you'd need speed to outnumber him and win the exchange. Distance control is a doubled edged sword, you can't be hit but you can't reach them too unless you close the distance.
I agree shakur is very technical and gives anyone problems but you’re right he leaves himself open during exchanges and can get countered I think Tank Davis would give him a run for his money because watching tanks last fights his iq is crazy and he finds that perfect counter that will most likely sleep or drop you this is the next fight I wanna see💯
@@reallyunderstandmetho Oscar didn't do that. What he did was trying to cut the ring to trap Shakur which he can just easily escape, he wasn't focus on countering. But as far as I remember he did some counter and it's actually landing better than trying to chase Shakur on the backfoot.
@@2gas783 You'll notice also that if you focus your attention on his left it gets clearer that his left is counterable, food for a good counterpuncher like Tank, and as far as i remember his left lacks variation like it's just straight or hook. His right is mostly setup, jab, and measuring distance, understanding this will make you see through his line of thinking when he'll throw that left, an elite counter puncher like Tank can read and catch that with his timing and explosiveness.
Judges gave Ramirez a gift here for the third round, he didn't do enough to be convincing. He was animated in the last round but punches were being blocked, slipped, or answered by Shakur.
Commentators suck Ramirez hardly landed and when Shakur landed clean counters nobody mentioned, no points for shakurs amazing defence? Close but Shakur won this for more shots landed and his defence
Commentators; looks like their in another weight category!? Isn't that how it always is against Cubans,, most of these guys if they fight at 130 their walking around at 155 ,if at 147 their at 168 -170 so every fight night 20+ lb. Weight advantage..
At first thought I think there weee 2 main factors that made the Cuban victorious: activity and frequent clinches. Shakur being a longer fighter should've boxed behind the jab and looked for counters and opportunities earlier to score more punches, he wasted the first round a little bit by trying to get the best possible timing (and I'm not judging Shakur cuz I'm nowere near his level), instead frequently found himself smothered. Did great work but wasn't able to use his strength.
Question, how was Shakur Stevenson allowed to fight in the Olympics when the minimum age was 19 and he just turned 19 that year, for example even if you turn 19 that year you have to wait till the following year before your considered old enough or am I wrong
Notice Shakur don’t age he still look exactly the same and his opponents is a bum meanwhile Shakur unified champion best lightweight of this generation
@Moneyxl00 ig Rigondeaux, Erislandy Lara, David Morrel, and many other countless great Cuban boxers are low tier. You realize the Soviet style boxing is almost the same as the Cubans? Yet the Kiltschkos, Lomachenko, Usyk, Kovalev, Bivol, and Beterbiev all are some of the best boxers out there.
@@deveion23 No they didn’t. They didn’t have the skills or infighting. Most come forward fighters aren’t actual INFIGHTERS. Even against herring the best work of Herring came inside.
@@j.osh.4261watch the oscar valdez and jamel herring fight he stayed inside the last half of each fight and KO’d Jamel, both guys were belt holders by the way
It was tight until the last 35 seconds of round 3 where ramirez stole that round with that flurry.. Although, imo round 1 shd have gone to stevenson too.. Stevenson has a more pro style.. Doesnt favor well with olympic judges
seams like the cuban was just running at him with punches that wherent really landing whilst stevenson is much more composed and picking him off but its tends that in amateur agressive pays off more which then changes when u get to pro
