Seems that Mr Heifetz was much tougher on the boys than on the girls. Regardless, if you can survive Mr Heifetz’s “tests”, then you can survive anything. I doubt Leopold Auer, though demanding, ever put his students through those crazy difficult scale contortions that Mr Heifetz would request. But who am I to argue with the greatest violinist of the modern era!
