From 1974 to 2000, Canada’s Brian Linehan conducted thousands of in-depth interviews with the greatest actors and directors from over 60 years of film history. His programs City Lights and Linehan have not been seen since they first aired and are now available for the first time for licensing. Linehan, a stylishly gifted broadcaster, meticulously did all his own research and that, coupled with his knowledge and passion about film and film-making, puts him in a class all by himself.
With 20,000 hours of music footage spanning 90 years and thousands of hours of in-depth interviews with the 20th century’s icons of Film and Television, Politics, Comedy, Literature, Art, Science, Fashion and Sports, Reelin’ In The Years Productions is now the World’s Premier Source For Footage Of Musical Artists, Entertainers & History Makers.

Note: these clips are available on RU-vid for producers, directors, researchers and clearance companies for potential use in their projects. Our website on the screen is to protect the footage from being used without our consent and so industry professionals can find us to properly license the footage.
Brian Linehan, who passed away in 2004, left his entire estate to The Brian Linehan Charitable Foundation to provide training, work opportunities and promotion for young actors of exceptional talent. All of the income of his Foundation is donated to not-for-profit institutions for that purpose. In the decade since his death, recipients of the Foundation’s support have included extraordinary young actors affiliated with the Canadian Film Centre, The National Screen Institute of Canada, the Stratford Shakespearean Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival, which, since Brian's passing, has preserved and housed Brian's personal archive and tape library.

I came here for Duvall, and found Linehan (whom I have never heard of). Linehan is truly awesome.

@ I'm in MO, USA. In 1983 I was in the 3rd grade and my parent's wouldn't have watched anything like this. It wouldn't have been on the channels we had, in any case. I never had a television myself after about 1997, or 98.

One of my very favourite actors being interviewed by one of the very best interviewers in Brian Linehan. Thanks for uploading this and allowing us all to watch. “They say you do that, and you did it!” Duvall to Linehan, complimenting him on his research.

@Jim Newcombe Harris worked with Brando on Mutiny On The Bounty and later, opposite Duvall in Wrestling Ernest Hemingway. Harris' judgement may have been clouded by Brando's unruly behaviour on set. Hard to believe Duvall is 90 years old!

I've always felt Duvall in "Tender Mercies", Denzel in "Malcolm X", DeNiro in "Raging Bull" and Daniel Day Lewis in "There Will Be Blood" are best male actor performances of all time. Denzel is only one that didn't win the Oscar that year.
@TTM9691
@TTM9691 2 года назад
Yeah, but Pacino got his Oscar that year, his only Oscar, which was given for all the years HE didn't win and/or get nominated. And with all due respect to Denzel, and Denzel's performance in Malcom X (which was fine, but not the greatest thing ever), Pacino definitely deserved his Oscar. That was THE story that year - are they going to snub Pacino yet again? - not that Denzel was robbed of an Oscar in an ok-biopic made for dummies too lazy to read the book.

Brian is possibly the best interviewer of all time including all the greats. Such a shame talents and like his and indeed Duvall don't exist anymore, no more intellect and depth and knowledge and no time given to these attributes in this modern age, now we have Will Smith slapping someone!

I've always loved Bobby, surprised about a little thing that slipped through this interview where he's talking about being on set with DeNiro and mentions: I'm too prejudice to be married to a black woman, something in my past I might not do... Not really something I wanted to hear from one of my heroes... This is an old interview though so I don't know. I'd like to think otherwise nowadays...
@osianmuhammad

I was surprised by his praise for Ken Loach at the end - Duvall doesn't act in Loach-esque stuff I would say. I'd like to know what a conservative republican like himself would think of Loach's other films. If anyone knows of another interview where he talks about it, link me up please.
@peterj4741
