Robert Duvall and James Caan are two of the most underrated actors of all-time. Duvall is top ten all-time and Caan’s performance in Thief was one of the greatest I’ve ever seen.
@@60zeller No, he most certainly is not. Greatest quiet actor I can think of. He does more acting with his face and movements than most do with dialogue.
I am not a soccer fan, but Kicking and Screaming is one of those put the remote down movies. When it's on, I have to watch it. "You know who I am?" "Yeah, you're the juice box guy!"
They worked together a number of times. They were both in "Countdown", an early Robert Altman film, produced by Coppola; they co-starred in Coppola's early film, "The Rain People"; they co-starred in Coppola's first two "The Godfather" films; and they were in "The Killer Elite". There may be more I'm forgetting, too. Magnificent actors, indeed.
Clint Eastwood always gets the rep as the Hollywood hard ass that nobody wants to mess with but Robert Duvall's name needs to be brought up more in that category, that man is terrifying.
The real life bad ass was Audie Murphy most decorated World War II soldier look it up!! Yeah Clint east wood was a bad ass he had a kid when he was 62 I think and not only he painted the town Red which he portrayed a man that was whipped to death and the town just stood and watched him die and he came back a priory much a ghost and payed back what they were owed he had a fist full of dollars, for a few dollars more, hang’em high he played a man that got hung and lived, the good the bad and the ugly he played a man during the civil War that was a gun for hire and over herd were gold was barred in a old grave yard with lee van cleef also a BADASS! I’m sorry but that’s a BADASS and there is no actor now a days could portray Clint east wood in those movies or even do dirty hairy movies NO ONE Robert Duvall was more mob style movies not too many westerns I know I’ve watch a shit ton of westerns
Duvall and Sidney Poitier are my favorite actors. Sidney first got my attention with Lilies of the Field. Robert was already famous before Apocalypse Now, but that is when he got my attention, and he and Tommy Lee Jones made Lonesome Dove one of the greatest western sagas of all time.
As far as James Caan playing football at Michigan State, this is a cut & paste from Caan's wikipedia page: Caan was educated in New York City, and later attended Michigan State University (MSU). He was a member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity during his two years at Michigan State.[10] During his time at MSU he wanted to play football but was unable to make the team.[11] He later transferred to Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, but did not graduate. His classmates at Hofstra included Francis Ford Coppola and Lainie Kazan.[12]
I saw Will Ferrell at a Rockies game at Coors Field once and, I swear this is true, he was walking around playing 'Don't Fear the Reaper' on his phone and playing a cowbell.
For some reason, I just imagine Bobby D in his character from The Judge ( RDJ movie) which makes this more hilarious. I’m kinda thinking, this is the first time Will has ever been out weirded. Bobby ought to win some sort of award for that.
I have that with him too, except it's the character from Secondhand Lions. I've watched a lot of his movies, but that's the persona I think of whenever I see him.
When you talk about the truly great actors over the last 50 odd years then Caan and Duvall deserve to be in that conversation along with Brando, Eastwood, Pacino, Nicholson, Cranston, Gandolfini, De Niro, Connery, Finney and probably some others who I have forgotten to mention.
I was on the show Vegas with James Caan. I had just a bit part - a couple lines. Caan was a lot more conservative than people would think. He didn't like leftists - but he would never come out in public to say that.
The funny thing about this clip is Dan Patrick displaying his familiarity with the movie Godfather even though he has repeatedly said he's never seen it and doesn't get it. He has to be the most FOS fugker on the radio.
Soooo Dan asked Will if he ever had a fight on set just so he could say that he "almost" got into a fight with Adam Sandler and Dave Matthews had to hold him back? Surely not a guy who would ever embellish anything.
actors are naturally competitive, they will deny that goes on but its common imo. All this bullshit about 'loving to work with so and so' is just fluff. Most name actors are very aware of their position and the threats to that position on the set.
You are assuming he's funny outside this show. That's not the case. Those 2 days in Dublin were boring when the actual celebrity guests were not on the show. Friday's show was 100 times better.
