Robert Fripp's "Music for Quiet Moments" series. We will be releasing an ambient instrumental soundscape online every week for 50 weeks. Something to nourish us, and help us through these Uncertain Times.
"Quiet moments are when we put time aside to be quiet. Sometimes quiet moments find us. Quiet may be experienced with sound, and also through sound; in a place we hold to be sacred, or maybe on a crowded subway train hurtling towards Piccadilly or Times Square.
Quiet Moments of my musical life, expressed in Soundscapes, are deeply personal; yet utterly impersonal: they address the concerns we share within our common humanity." Robert Fripp

I used to listen to Frippertronics after dinner in my adolescent days, thinking: "what am I doing here? shouldn't I be studying or sleeping?" So here I am, nearly 40 years later, while my family is sleeping, once again lost in reverie like I used to, a true believer in his ministry of music. Thank you once again and for all, Mr. Fripp.

I got to see Mr. Fripp when he opened for Porcupine Tree at the Olympia in Paris back in 2009. Most people in audiance were disappointed, maybe they were expecting another "prog metal" band as opening act, but I enjoyed every second of his performance.

Salama Nicolas I saw his soundscapes tour of 2007? It was awesome seeing him in venues that were under 500 seats, and with an appreciative audience that knew what they were in for. He has a very dry wit. He was very generous with his time during the Q&A.

@Mordred's Quest I'm just saying what happened and what I saw. Later Fripp would say how annoyed he was and that he didn't leave because he was supporting PT and was not his own gig.

Sad to hear about such disrespect, if they only knew how much Fripp influenced their favorite musicians they would have listened a little harder!

Hi ya, Robert. I’m a drummer originally from USA but immigrated to UK in ‘96. I’ve always been a wanna be guitar player. I’ve also taken your brilliant artistry for granted. My heroes have largely been other amazing innovators eg Robin Guthrie, Kevin Shields, Sonic Youth, but you were there from the beginning, making your biggest impact on me in ‘83 playing the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles with King CriMson. And then fell in love again with your work w/D.Sylvian. But “where is the Bowie or the Eno?”, many might wonder. For some reason it was delayed to 2020, of all years. A year of strange new ambience and hidden heroes. I shall mention one influenced by your work w/Bowie one Robert Dean - formerly of Japan, which served as a bridge to your pioneering sounds of incredible fanTasticism. I look forward to QM 2 in the coming day while I also await my first vinyl copy of Heroes. For today I shall cue up “Beat” side two. Ta

Oh mr Fripp you have inspired me since I first discovered kc back in the early 70’s. a unique playing style and a unique take on what music is and what it’s for. Who else is able to make your ears bleed with ferocious and savage guitar one minute then make your heart melt with extraordinary beauty the next.

What an incredible feeling listening to this. Multiple dimensions and points in space both near and far. It almost seems biological, like an evolution of microscopic life dividing and multiplying while always connected and communicating. Really wished it could go on for hours ... looking forward to more. I’m blessed to have attended one of Robert’s Frippertronics sessions so many years ago at NYC Limelight when it was still a church. Have always been a KC fan and now reliving it through my twin sons who are more fanatical than me! We all caught the KC50 show at Radio City and will never forget it.

I got an audition in a band in '80 because I told the keyboard player I was recuperating at home from a car accident by making tapes with 2 tape recorders and a fretless bass, then soloing over it. He knew what I was talking about. Thank you Robert & Brian. The original small mobile unit.

Thank you Mr Fripp for making my morning just that bit calmer. As I start work I am soothed and memories come flooding back of first listening to an album of Frippertronics in 1980 and being inspired to replicate the sound in the college studio with a couple of Revoxes and my guitar.

Pandemic day 58 S.E.Pennsylvania... May 9, 2020 - my grandfather's 120th birthday. In 1918, he was 18. During that horid influenza. 250,000 died in Philadelphia, just days after a WW 1 liberty bonds March was held. They ran out of places to bury the dead. When we look back on this, how will History tell it? Were we civil? Did we care about our fellow men and women? Thanks Mr Fripp.

FRIPP SAID: "Quiet Moments 2 is a sonic meditation on dying, loss and accepting, disguised as looping; so it is better equipped and able to go out and present itself in public; so more likely to escape the expectation and quality of attention that would otherwise undermine the reflection/event were it formally billed as Meditation On Loss, Grieving & An Acceptance Of Suffering As Both Necessary & Inevitable In The Human Condition. Boy. That’s a show I’d avoid.".

I really wanted to like this and I listened all the way through, but I'm sorry, I found it boring. Maybe I'm not in the right mood. Or maybe this is utility music, made for meditation rather than to be listened to. Anyway, I wanted to enjoy it the same way other commenters seemed to, but I didn't. I've got a blind spot, I guess.
