What better way to represent your favorite team than to wear a replica championship ring. If you love this sport you will fall in love with these memorabilia, take a look: number-23.com/
I remember being 8 years old watching that game 5 San Antonio vs Detroit with my dad. He wanted to Detroit to win and as soon as he saw horry catch the ball wide open he said "it's over" out loud. He then told me all about big shot bob. Hell of a role player and just a great winner. My dad passed away that next year and I miss him more and more everyday. Rip dad!
@@jaroj1112 I mean it's just a really good memory that I have of my dad. Kind of the reason I posted it. My dad taught me everything I know about ball. Sorry man just typing what was on my mind.
Horry was a solid player. Had good basketball IQ. He could play defense and score when needed. He wasnt the guy to put up alot of stats but he will give u quality minutes off the bench and of course hit that big shot
Horry was always the go-to man for the win. Nearly every team in the NBA wanted him on their team just so he could be on the floor in the final few seconds. The higher the pressure, the higher the chances he would sink the winning shot from three point land.
Jackson and Popovich are two of the greatest coaches ever. They knew exactly what they wanted their team to look like and who they wanted on them. The fact that TWO hall of fame coaches wanted Horry on their team should tell you something. Coaches like that don't have "flukes" on their teams.
I know I'm saying the obvious, but you always felt good about having him on your side. Besides the clutch shots, he very seldom made any bone-headed or foolish plays.
And without him, Duncan, Shaq, Kobe, Ginobli, Parker, Olajawan, Clyde Drexler, (I would say David Robinson but idk if he made a clutch shot for the 03 championship.) etc would all have less championships. He was the guy that nba legends depended on at the end of games. Making Big Shot Rob an nba playoffs legend. Even then it wasn't just last second shots it was how he played in the 4th quarters.
That shot against the Kings I still remember to this day. I remember being glued to the TV, my wife and kids had to leave to a birthday party in the middle of the game. I stayed home but remember being so frustrated during the game. It all boiled down to that last shot by Horry, I jumped off my chair and screamed as loud as I've ever screamed with joy and even shed a little tear. That one will forever be my most favorite lakers shot of all time and of course beating the Celtics.
Man, thanks for posting this. I loved that Shaq-Kobe 3 peat lakers, but Robert Horry was the hidden gem of that team. What I love, that is this mistake every team Horry played against made, they focused their defenses on the known stars (Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, Hakeem, etc), but you see this "oh no!" moment when they get the ball to Horry, he does that kickstand shooting motion, and he is able to get the shot off without a hand in his face, and the ball is in the air. The opposing team knows they are f*cked, but they are hoping divine intervention is coming, but it doesn't. That man was solid gold in clutch moments.
The Lakers had two of the most clutch role players and clutch players period of all time in Robert Horry and Derek Fisher. I don’t know if the stats will say it but D Fish use to hit HUGE shots in the last minute of games up until he was like 35.
I remember watching that shot against the Kings and was completely awestruck. I was sure Divac had smacked the ball out of the reach of anyone and into the backcourt. What a crazy series that was.
You would think by the time Horry joined the Spurs, all of these teams would double team the guy in the last 3 minutes of every playoff game! Big Shot Bob is the LAST guy you should leave wide open in the 4th quarter!
There’s a motivational quote by Michael Jordan where he mentions that he missed 26 game winning shots. To the best of my memory the only one I can remember Robert Horry missing was in 2003 against the Spurs. Does anyone know if this is correct?
@@shaquilleray3795 syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/1649603-comparing-lebron-james-playoff-buzzer-beating-shots-to-michael-jordans-best.amp.html check this out mate. while I guess technically you are right, this article sums it up perfectly. while breaking a tie with a layup is still considered a buzzer beater, hitting a 20 footer when down by one is just on a whole other level imo. :)
I love the dude but look at his career stats 7 points per game, 4 rebounds per game and 2 assist per game. No all star appearances. Perhaps if there was a hall of fame for role players. Again I'm a fan so I'm not hating
I was driving down to San Diego from LA with some friends and the radio reception quality was slowly getting worse. So I drove well under the speed limit to catch the last of the game. Kobe drives, no dice, Shaq put back, no dice, Horry buzzer, just ice. We shook the car with excitement. Guy driving next to us pumping his fists. Phil and those legends brought LA together.
There might a shit ton of Forwards better than him, but there will *never* be anybody cooler than Robert Horry ever again in the NBA. Dude would just show up, hit a clutch shot, made millions, and win rings. What a legacy.
I still remember Horry's one miss being a Spurs fan, he missed at the end of game 5 against SA and it was dead on target but popped out. CLUTCH he definitely was.
Ice water 🧊 in his veins! To step up & continuously take & hit those shots-Game winners! A role player his entire career but w/7 rings & MULTIPLE clutch moments on different teams-Who could argue Horry isn’t a HOF? Many of the greats wouldn’t have a ring(s) w/o him just as he needed the Greats as well 💪🏽
@@okd521that just shows how overrated the HOF is. This man was key in 7 championships. Rings are why the game is played. If he wasn't special, more so-called "stars" would have done the same or better, but they haven't. He's the ONLY player that wasn't part of the Russell Celtics dynasty that has more than 6 rings...think about that. There are plenty players that did way less and got in the Hall.
I love that at the end,,he chose the Lakers to be a post game announcer ..Lakers are magical that everyone as good as Horry is fall in love with the Purple and Gold!!!
I remember #1 like it was yesterday watching with my parents. Was the most amazing shit I damn near had ever seen at that age. That and when Derrick fisher hit that shot in .4 seconds 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
Horry is the bench player with most championship rings. He is humble enough to take the backseat yet he always deliver specially on crucial moments a.k.a the secret weapon.
He is the all time buzzer beater champion. That game winner he had against Sacramento was his best imo. The whole entire city of Los Angeles was yelling "Horry Horry Horry Horry" The guy that coached Horry at Alabama was the awesome Wimp Sanderson, the man who created the Plaid Palace at Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa Alabama. And I went to the same high school coach Sanderson went to here in Florence (AkA Flo Town) Alabama. Horry was always my favorite Alabama player.
@@okd521 you got that wrong. Danny threw the inbounds pass at Mario Ellie and hit him in the face, point blank. Then tried to deny that he did it on purpose. Then Robert found out that Danny did it on purpose
Big shot man. I haven't seen the vs Kings one in so long. Brought me back to being a kid and watching it live. I remember right when it happened. We watched the replay a few times then I went outside and I see my friends already reeenacting it with his little brothers lmao...
I remember watching Horry hit that game winner against the Kings on a portable TV at a park. Me and my dad and uncles all watching the game from a little handheld device start going nuts in the middle of the park haha
I still remember exactly where I was when that last shot was taken. I couldn't believe the ball bounced out to him. Such an open three. Easy striper. However my memory is of them being on the opposite side of the court. I believe the video has been flipped.
I will NEVER forget that shot against Sacramento. I was 6 years old watching the game with my family in Hawthorne and I’ll never forget how that felt. I spent the rest of the day in the backyard shooting around pretending to be him.
Robert almost had another one when he was with the Lakers, going against Spurs in the playoffs. That ball rattled as if it was going to go in, but bounced out.
Big shot bob has to be top 5 greatest clutch players ever. Game on the line he’s always showed up. All of these were finals or conference finals performances while his team was down with seconds left of some of those games!
I remember when Divac tapped the ball out, I saw long arms reaching for the ball, and when I realized it was Big Shot Bob, I immediately started celebrating cause I knew it was going in!
I'm born and raised and live in Houston Texas. I remember when the rockets drafted him and I remember him Robert horry getting booed when he got drafted look at him now...
As a Rockets fan, enjoy watching Horry's career being great on the Lakers and Spurs too. Fact: Rockets were never the same after they traded Horry in 1996 for Barkley.
I've been watching b-ball since the '70s. Horry's shot against the Kings was as thrilling as any sports moment I've seen. The ref said he fixed that game. He went to prison for fixing games. It broke my heart to hear it. I don't watch basketball anymore, I've seen way too many examples of officials fixing games to doubt it.
@@keithjoseph128 Santa isn't real baby Keith Joseph no matter how badly you want him to be. Do you even know what you think is false, or do you just like to say nah uh?
@@brendanbrendan4067 I didn't say better I said he doesn't get his respect. And just to be clear he bailed those teams he was on out of a hole in points by being clutch.
@@gregmatic2861 Best example being the number 1 clip in this vid. Kobe misses a tough layup, Shaq can't put it back in from the crowd, and Divac gifts Horry a chance to save the Lakers that he didn't miss.
lol I feel bad for Vlade and the kings on that one. Great defense against 2 of the best ever, just to tip it out and have Big Shot Rob standing there for pretty much no reason and drain the dagger😂😂😂
I'm just wondering how long before he sneaks his way into the Hall of Fame. All these post and pregame analytics he does for spectrums Lake show should help add him to the list. Those game winners were all in the playoffs. Already Hall of Fame worthy IMO.
Been my favorite player since I was a kid. Before he was big shot Bob. Mainly because he looks just like my moms brother. So I thought my uncle played in the NBA as a kid.😅
