Thank god! This is exactly why I like to watch videos like this, it actually gives the true harmonical view of what the text meant. I wouldn't go as far as to call Robert Madu a false teacher , I just believe that a lot of pastors nowadays are living for the shocking an awe , the enertainment and are still seeking to truth themselves. I believe the prayer in the garden was Christ teaching us the absolution of God’s will. No matter who you are, no matter what you pray for, if it’s against God’s will, God will not do it for you. Christ actually prayed that he could avoid the cross, if it was God’s will… If we apply THAT to our lives, maybe we would stop trying to use God as a means of prosperity… If it’s not God’s will for us to be millionaires, no amount of praying and “declaration” is going to make that happen for us… I guess that means we should pray more for contentment… That’s just a sneak peak of a book I’m working on…

We share the cup insomuch as we are to be partakers in the sufferings of Christ. But the cup Jesus had to drink was His and His alone. Only Jesus could bear the weight of the sins of the world and God's wrath and separation. That was the point.

I love your channel brother! Thanks for calling out the Mike Todds of the world etc. and please continue to do so.. Now, full disclosure, I do go to Social Dallas and I love Pastor Madu's teaching. This is a case where he honestly used the art of metaphor. Possibly incorrectly. Now I do see your point. There's no comparison between Jesus taking on the wrath of God in our place and our personal trials we go through. I think he was just trying to "bridge the gap" and use an extreme example to illustrate a basic truth of life. He always gives glory to Christ and never makes the focus on us, but the power of Christ in us to overcome adversity. I listen to brother Voddie, Paul Washer and many others as well as do personal study. We are the body of Christ and sometimes the "toes" don't understand the role of "ears" yet they work in unison. I pray you understand my point. Much love to you in Christ and hope you continue and even start a ministry/church of your own if you haven't already. Many blessings to you!

I think the focal message of the garden of Gethsemane to your point is the fact that Jesus has already drank the cup of the wrath of God for us so we wouldn't have to. And so the text should point us to Christ who deserves our undivided adoration, love and gratitude. Nothing that we will ever do in this life would ever equal to what Yeshua did for us. Unfortunately this pastor is making it about us. The focus is 'man-centred' not 'Christ-centred' which is really misleading.

The first time I watched Robert Madu it was during the pandemic and someone recommended his sermons “Get Out” & “The Beauty of Being Stuck”…..I knew right away that instead of reading and explaining scripture he much rather wince and holler as if he’s made some great connection or point. He told more jokes than anything.

The greatest responsibility that pastors have is to properly exegete the Word of God. There is a level of carelessness, and sometimes recklessness, that many are committing today. That which belongs to Jesus, belongs to Him alone. And, that which applies to Jesus, applies to Him alone. Let’s not superimpose our life ideas onto scripture, but rather impose the scripture into our life episodes.

Only Jesus could of handled that punishment 1. Because he was blameless and w/o sin and 2. He wanted to do it because he understood the assignment which was saving humanity and bridging the gap btw us and God. Mark 10:35-40 Jesus elaborates that James + John can't drink from the cup that's coming his way. So why would I want to drink it? 🤦🏾

Idk this preacher but you missed the whole message of this sermon. Bro you did a poor job of breaking this sermon down. Where that preacher was going with it we can all agree this had nothing to do with us making some type of atonement, ultimately canceling what Jesus did. Bro you do you understand that seeing Jesus in that moment praying for and accepting the will of God taught us one of the biggest lessons if not the biggest lesson! There is literally a lesson in that for us and you missed it.. the struggles in life and hardships is a reality for us and oftentimes God allows it to happen to us because of something greater that we can’t see at the moment. That cup in our life today is the will of God in our situations, not ours. So instead of running away in these moments and giving up, we should face it head on with the grace and power of God being the driving force. The best outcome for our lives is God’s perfect will.

Also, I don’t even know if I’m understanding his analogy correctly or not but if he’s saying WE, not Jesus, are given a cop by God (His will) that it’s hard to rebuke? I remember when my husband was in the hospital dying and I prayed that I will not drink from that cup and he will live and not die and His name will be glorify. I was talking about the cup of death. Hebrews 414-16 says “Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are-yet he did not sin. 16 Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Our confidence should have NOTHING to do with us, but in Christ who stands and intercedes for us. This biblically illiterate pastors need to be removed from the pulpit and let true theologians preach the word!!

First, Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane.....the name in Greek is "Oil Press"....it's no coincidence he was there as he was about to be pressed or crushed. That cup is the redemptive wrath of God....just like the book of Revelation talks about concerning the reaping of the grapes of wrath (Revelation 18-20) where the grapes are put grapes in the great winepress of the wrath of God. Only Jesus could bear that cup..... We deserve every bit of God's wrath. The fact that this false teacher is teaching this is blasphemy not borderline blasphemy....it is blasphemy! and makes light of what our Savior Jesus Christ did. THIS IS NOT THE GOSPEL!
