All TV performances in the UK back then had to be mimed hence the lip sync. I don't remember recording this but we did do a few around then, lots more in the States. The American ones were normally us (the band) miming with Robert singing live which could for obvious reasons be hilarious. Even though I don't remember doing this I can see myself there at the back quietly seething because there is never a camera on the drummer! x
hahaha, You mean, There is a drummer in this video? lol I've always said, Best post Zeppelin band bar none. So you were actually hitting the drums Chris even though lip syncing? I would love to find a drum solo on youtube of you playing. Hope your well Chris,
Hello Chris you may not remember being there but I certainly do! I was a teenager in the audience and was extremely impressed that Robert Plant was performing as I'd been brought up on Led Zep by my Dad and it was the best song on the show (even if the lip syncing was daft). Robert was exceptionally nice to us in the audience and things like that stay with you especially as I've now worked in music for 30 years mostly with songwriters & composers. I know you now compose Chris so great to meet you 😊
Most of Plants 80s music was totally awful, but Heaven Knows on the Now And Zen album is actually quite good. His 1993 album Fate of Nations is truly excellent.
I think this was for television, hence the lipsyncing. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, they did this on American Bandstand, Top of the Pops, etc all the time
funny how 80s tv forced everyone to lip-sync and a giants like Plant went for it as well as the rest. Still - fantastic song and great Jimmy Page solo on recording
1987 I ghostwrote a long list of songs for Plant's comeback, and due thanks RIP to Phil Johnstone, the do-it-all man for making those songs reality from my tapes sent by back door method.
Uhhh....can't see this is lipsync? Wow. Check out the point at 3:18 or so...Plant's voice keeps going, but he doesn't have the mic to his mouth. And the lead guitar part is identical to the album, as are all the other parts. This guy was a fraud. Sorry Robert, loved you in Zep, but here you obviously ripped people off. Just another Milli Vanilli. Shame.
