One part gospel, one part funk, with a little bit of part rock and rollah thrown in for good measure. Pedal steel shredder, Robert Randolph, unleashes the sonic swagger with this gritty but soulful tune.
I grew up listening to steel guitar in country music bands. Not a big fan the but learned to appreciate the musicianship. Then i heard this, blew my mind. WHY ARENT THEY MORE POPULAR!! Fantastic, abosolutely freakin mind blowing.
Not a Black Face in that audience that I can see. What the FFFF is that about? And Robert Cray coming behind them? Don't the brothers and sisters support these artists? Too into Byonce?
ROBERT ....O M G ..I AM SOOO FEELING THE BITING OF THE BOTTOM LIP AND THE CHEWING OF THE GUM,,, VERY NICE TO LOOK AT . NOW WHEN ARE YOU COMING TO THE CITY OF BROTHERLY LOVE. I'M SO READY TO DO MY SHOUT / DANCE
Just felt like adding a little to the comments about Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, etc. There are two ways to become a famous musician. One is talent, which all of the people in this video have. The other is the complete opposite in that it requires absolutely no musical talent at all, and that's Disney sponsorship. People like them are the reasons why I dislike Disney.
So wondering why I had to even look for this song? Why isn't this cranked on the radio every morning? I'm sorry, I just don't see how this can be discarded in favor for Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, etc. Quite disappointing..
A lot of people say that great music is dead and gone. For the most part they are right, but perhaps it's better that way because when a band comes along like these guys you get to appreciate a timeless and amazing band. Definitely a band I will listen to and respect for the rest of my life.
Somebody PLEASE tell me what tuning this is! I need to be able to play this but there are no tabs! If I can just get the tuning I can figure this song out but otherwise I'm sunk!
Tell me about it. But alas, I'm afraid Robert Randolph lacks the allure and unbridled talent of such artist like Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers. It's a goddamn shame he goes almost completely unnoticed.
I first saw him when he opened for Buddy Guy a few years back. He put on an electrifying performance back then, and he has obviously only gotten better since then!
Now this is talent... I'd like to see a hip hop artist sound better live than they do on the album version... No no no nononononononooo can't nobody perform like Robert Randolph and The Family Band can live! lol
There is good music being played out there. The Family Band are dynamite. The Carolina Chocolate Drops really blew me away, Robert Lighthouse is my Hero. I decided to quit despairing over the MISERABLE state of music and look for whatever is good that can be found. I ignore most coporate music anyway so theres nothing to lose and everything to gain by searching out and supporting music like this. That the flip side. When we find music that deserves support, put the money where the mouth is.
They'll be headlining the Friday night show in Madison, Indiana at the annual Ribberfest on August 16th! A $20 wristband gets you two full days of nothing but fantastic blues and BBQ! It's a qualifying event for the national KCBS cook off. If you are anywhere near that part of the country I encourage you to check it out!

When someone tells you shredding rockers that rock and roll ain't nothing but Holiness music.......THIS is what they're talking about. Clapton knows.....

I just purchased the Crossroad DVD, just for fun, I am from Mexico, my musical roots don't have nothing to do with blues, but the entire DVD and SPECIALLY this song is awesome, what a feeling it has.
I remember this, this was part of the Eric Clapton Crossroads event. This performance was epic! Robert Randolph is a master. I heard he was amazing at Bonnaroo. Thank you for posting this video!
