I can't stand Chamberlain for some reason, he's just eck. chamberlain IS NOT way Hotter than Robert. I'm sorry but He doesn't seem like he has the Talent to me that Robert does, let alone his looks are kind of bland.

James Dunn is right that Robert Redford probably had a bigger career overall than Richard Chamberlain. Yet, during the five year reign of Dr. Kildare, only the King of Rock and Roll himself, Elvis Presley surpassed his stardom. If Kildare was a fad, it was one of the great crazes of the Twentieth Century. Chamberlain received an average of at least 12,000 letters a week during its run. Incredibly, that's more mail than Elvis received until he was drafted and went overseas!! Part of Chamberlains effect was that he was not only incredibly good looking, he was a fine actor as well. As Chamberlain noted in interviews later, Dr. Kildare was a fine show. With a wonderful cast of actors and guest stars. Foremost of course, was the Marvelous Raymond Massey, who portrayed Blair Hospital Chief, Doctor Leonard Gillespie. Massey was renowned for his portrayal of both Abraham Lincoln and the famed Abolitionist John Brown on screen. One of the finest actors of the century. And a prime reason why Doctor Kildare and Chamberlain rose to such heights during its triumphant run.

Chamberlain was very handsome, maybe more than Redford but looks alone do not equate mega star. Both had big careers but Redford's was by comparison much bigger, but then he is one of Hollywood's all time maga stars.

Redford did some producing of movies and THE SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL but he had a relative at WB that's why his classmates didn't like him

You're right. Chamberlain might have been bland when he was younger but he matured into an amazingly good looking man and versatile actor. Unfortunately hid talents were underrated and not fully utilised. He is also a wonderful singer and talented painter. Besides he still looks good while Redford looks a wreck.

Holy shit, it's a baby Robert! I think this is the youngest I've seen him in anything. Although I have to correct a few people Chamberlain IS NOT way Hotter than Robert. @@yvonnecamacho8793 Like you stated it,s a matter of different taste. Chamberlain just doesn't do anything for me, I don't know if it's his tone of voice, or looks but he's just 'Blah' to me. But no, Rob was born blonde, could his hair have been dyed in this ep? possibly, or it could've just been a period where his hair wasnt sunbleached/lightened up alot by the sun. Every Interview I've read/saw says he was born the "All American Golden Boy" Because he was born Blonde and Blue eyed, AND has good looks. But I'm the kind of person that goes beyond looks theres just something about Chamberlain that he doesn't seem to have in his personality, that Robert does In my own opinion. But also Bob was in "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" Which was shortly before this and the man on the radio said "Suspect is Blonde and Blue eyed" so again the blonde isnt a dyed in effect. Not quite sure what height has to do with anything though.

chamberlain was a better actor than Redford but the gay thing at the time held him back ...wonder if he made any moves on Redford...That scene when Chamberlain was on top of Redford must have caused a little hardening of the artery

Richard Chamberlain. is a much bétter actor than Robért Redford he went to. England to study açting for four years his craft then came back to the states to act he played in movies here he also play ed in movies in Australia and Africa and he also play [n stage as Ha mlet

I disagree, one episode doesn't give RR enough credit and it's unfair to judge the two based on one episode. Also if Chamberlain made any moves, I highly doubt they where appreciated, RR didn't work that way. That's one of the things people love about him, he didn't come onto his co-workers. But what makes him a better actor is the fact that he can *act* he came from the theater before he ever began acting. He didn't have to go to a school to learn about the craft at least just for acting, RR went to study RR across the seas, because he wasn't at home in school and there's nothing wrong with that.
