One of the best parts of the 2020 Drumeo Festival was the full band performances: drummers in their natural habitat!
Arguably one of the most energetic performances at the event, Ghost-Note features Sput Searight (Snarky Puppy) on drums and an incredible group of musicians. On top of Sput's flawless, funky fusion playing and major personality on the mic, you'll see him trade solos with percussionist Nate Werth (Snarky Puppy).
This performance also features the fantastic Xavier Taplin on keys, MonoNeon on bass, Jonathan Mones on sax, Peter Knudsen on guitar, and Daniel Wyantis on trombone. People were dancing in their seats - it's hard to describe the experience when you had to be there!

@@stephhaug3316 tbh theres nothing to worry about. Everyone in the band understands musical context. Their resumes as individual sidemen on albums and tours they played on speaks for them. Like MonoNeon being Prince’s bassist before Prince passed Sput playing for everyone from Kirk Franklin to Kendrick Lamar. They got it. 👍🏾

You can hear "Musicology"-era Prince in this, and sure enough Nate is rockin' a Prince t-shirt. Sput plays the band like another instrument, just the way Prince did.

I like the way the MC characterised the band. Lots of music pushing boundaries i thought had been reached in the late 70s. Standing on the shoulders of giants, and doing them proud. PS. Anyone remember Neil Jason playing bass with the Breckers on this? It was slick and sick.

I first heard Robert Searight with God's Property in 1998 after I was born again in a Pentecostal Church in Moss Side, Manchester, UK. What a great drummer. I had no idea many of the best drummers were Gospel musicians. Loving his stuff here and with Snarky Puppy. Nice kicking off with Some Skunk Funk (Brecker Bros), not an easy tune.

I have to say, listening to Robert on drums over the years, and listening to his philosophy about our role as drummers in a band, has been extremely educational. What I've learned about myself through Robert is that I hit the drums too damn hard! Since coming to this conclusion so many things have been improved, mainly my dynamics and tempo. I never made the correlation between speed and stick height before and was working way too hard and getting no where.
