I'm shocked he has a Law Degree! 😮 A Politian well I don't have nothing nice to say about that subject but how did he ever get elected to that position? Maybe if he didn't show favoritism when he was elected & didn't make the workplace intolerable for some people in his office they wouldn't have felt like they had no other recourse but to seek out a Journalist who was willing to investigate this on his own. He babbles about nothing to do with his case & comes off as if he didn't pass highschool talking about irrelevant things & theories. And who would want this Journalist dead other than him after his truthful but scathing articles that came out & he wasn't re-elected for his own wrong doings? And bc of that he murdered this good man & Journalist?! All the evidence points to him & there's no great conspiracy that put a 🎯 on his back. This man is an arrogant, egotistical & a narcissistic man who thought he could get away with anything bc of his position. He learned nothing he thinks he can get away with murder who when police showed up @ his home he barricaded himself inside & then inflicted some type of wound so he'd be brought to a hospital. He was mad & wanted revenge on this Jornalist! He certainly thinks he's better & smarter than anyone else in the room but it's so far from the truth. He had 2 years to work on his case of who to blame this murder on & this was the best he could come up with or maybe he's playing a the sympathy card. He didn't even stand up to speak to the Jurors to show some respect & @ times he doesn't make eye contact with them when pleading his nonsensical case. He points the finger @ a so called death threat over the phone & police misconduct who wants to frame him is just ludicrous he's grasping @ straws. Although I've never committed a crime I could do better than this man if I we're in his shoes. His Attorneys are probably just dumb founded that this is the best he can do unless he's pretending to be a simpleton although he has a Law Degree. How are they going to try to point the finger @ someone else for committing this murder with all this evidence that they have that point directly back to him?! He wants people to believe that someone had keys to his house so they could plant evidence under his & his wife's bed without either of them noticing? Then someone planted more evidence in a sealed container that holds their childrens sports equipment stored in the garage & yet no one not his wife or kids noticed? No neighbors seen anyone lurking around or entered there garage? Nothing nor anyone showed up on neighbors cameras or their own ring camera or surveillance equipment! Most people today have cameras in & around their home that they can access to @ anytime or while visiting another State. They also receive a notification if someone is in their house, garage or around their property yet he doesn't have one or maybe it just wasn't working or removed just before this crime was committed. And oh yes they stole his red SUV with a key to his vehicle while dressed in something that you'd wear as a Halloween costume. I guess that's all he could find around his house thinking it wouldn't draw anyone's attention while committing this murder shows he didn't put a lot of thought into his clothing or he didn't want to be seen buying a disguise. His anger & need for revenge got the better of him. Although this Journalist who did his job well & wrote an article about this Politian & how he mistreated people who answered to him in his position who therefore wasn't re-electioned. He didn't want to accept responsibility for his own actions or make a public apology & couldn't accept the outcome. He blamed his actions on this Journalist that he hated for exposing him & that's what good Journalists do they keep people in Powerful positions accountable for their actions for Citizens in their Cities. I hope he & his family & all those who loved him receive the justice they've been waiting for & deserve! May he RIP. 😢Ontario, 🇨🇦 💔

It’s very common for attorneys to want to represent themselves, or so I have heard. It’s also very much an ego thing to want to testify on your own behalf and a lot of the time that reflects negatively on them as well. In SOME cases a defendant will need to testify for themselves when there is no one who has first hand knowledge of abuse for example, but in a case where the defendant was clearly awful in his communication with the victim prior to his death… it makes zero sense. He came across as fake and insincere. Whether or not he is guilty he looks more guilty now.

Finished like a dud. Fizzled out big time. Should have used the photos from the states evidence to say they had the suv back home at 11:51. Yet I was at the gym at a time after that. So the state would have had that video of his suv leaving the home again.

I think he did well. Remember his aim is not to prove that he is innocent, he merely wants to sow reasonable doubt within the jurors in order that only one juror causes a mistrial. Jurors are not always the brightest or most honest people around and can be easily influenced as we saw during the Trump trial in New York.

I didn't watch the defence so I didn't know what the evidence is but... When I listened to this, I believed him.

Wow what a horrifically biased video (and thumbnail). So you’re assuming that his lawyer absolutely did not want him to testify and that the reason for this is because his lawyer knew “based on the evidence” that he was going to lie? It is not up to the lawyer to evaluate the evidence. If his lawyers didn’t want to be a part of defrauding the court can they not resign instead of letting him take the stand to distance themselves from wrongdoing? He obviously is testifying because he is a lawyer and wants to explain the entire situation as completely as possible instead of answering a bunch of yes/no questions posed by attorneys on both sides. He may very well be guilty, I have no idea. But watching these self righteous pundits pat themselves on the back making assumptions they don’t actually know are true or not and presenting them as facts is rather repugnant.

It seems that you have misunderstood what was explained in this video. The sensitive issue is *not* that Telles decided to testify on his own behalf -- which is every defendant's right, regardless of whether their own attorney counsels against it. The issue is that _Telles gave his testimony "in the narrative,"_ instead of having his testimony elicited under direct examination by his own lawyer. The professionals in this video explained the chief reason why this alternative form of testifying _may / is likely to_ occur: i.e., the defendant's lawyer does not want to risk getting drawn into an act of anticipated or potential perjury by their client. So, the attorney advises the judge that their client will 'freehand' narrate their version of the 'facts', while their attorney provides distant support (raising or answering to legal objections, for example).

@@u.synlig thank you for this explanation and insight. As a lawyer and politician himself I would have thought he considers himself to be skilled at public speaking and presenting evidence in his own favour which I do believe is why he probably wanted to give a narrative. Unfortunately he also failed to present evidence supporting his claims from what I saw.
