From the manual... As the piston absorbs 95% of the energy, the fastener is driven into the base material at much lower velocity (100m/s). .... The trigger safety device ensures that the cartridge cannot be fired by pulling the trigger only. The tool can only be fired when pressed against the work surface. ..... Yadda Yadda, Yadda..... 1:30 - 3:10 - best part of this scene. Last part - worst part. Because the tool McCall used is ANYTHING, but accurate weapon. Even if you are the best sharpshooter in the galaxy, you simply CAN'T land an accurate hit with this tool.

That was a masonry drill bit. It would not penetrate fast enough. You would need a fresh wood drilling bit.

Because he obviously is used to using various drill bits. I must agree, the masonry bit would be way more effective in a hammer or sds drill. This drill was neither. In my experience, an auger bit is the most effective for drilling into the back of a man’s skull quickly.

this is hollywood, nuking a gas cylinder wont do anything, breakers arent usually turned off for the lights. and you dont sling a nail gun like a shotgun. the need pressure on the nosepiece to even fire. i wont fault the movie for its action but i will fault the writers for not doing their homework.

Some directional switches would have done the same thing in the end. 1. He could have just made an improvised bomb instead of using the microwave 2. Let's just say he turned on the lights somehow 3. He could have just picked up a handgun from one of the fallen baddies

Masonry Bit in the drill would have never drilled deeply quickly enough, should have use a sharp wood bit instead. The entire microwave scene is sketch as hell. They always time it so perfectly but have no idea if it would have even worked. And of course the Hilti gun scene... It's most definitely smooth bore. Has no rifling. Nails would tumble through the air, needs to be pressed against a solid surface to fire, and it certainly can't be operated with one hand... I absolutely love the Equalizer movies, don't get me wrong at all. But the vast amount of improvised weaponry in a hardware store is a hell of a lot better than these choices. Battery Operated saws for starters, electric chainsaws, hammers, sledges, axes, picks, awls, chisels, carpet knives and utility knives etc. But yeah if I'm sneaking up on a bad guy, I don't think I'd trust a drill to get the job done. But I bet a 12lb maul on top of his head would have worked...

Most on screen "tough guys" are actually sissies in real life. From Keanu Reeves, to Hugh Jackman to Liam Neeson, none of these guys aren't actually legit tough guys in real life, and they've admitted it. That's why it's called acting. They pretend to be something they are not. and they have a bunch of stunt guys whose job is to make them look like they real are that badass.

Just a bit of fantasy here... construction attachment guns do not work like shown. Ever. Nose has to be depressed against something hard for a Hilti gun to fire. Would be nice though if they did but anchoring guns do not independently fire like shown. .

Despite several opportunities, our hero declines to pick up high powered rifles from the corpses of those he killed, preferring instead to hopefully find something he can improvise into a weapon. That's just stupid. Also, sprinklers go off to accentuate the slow motion drams but for some reason the fire alarm didn't feel like activating. Maybe the fire alarms were on lunch break? It is possible to create a riveting action scene without making the hero into a complete moron. Just have him pick up the damn rifle and go from there!
