Everything that happened around the low blow was above board. Jamahal FOULED Alex, Herb called time to check on Alex, Alex waved him away, Herb resumed time, Jamahal and Alex touched gloves. Then they both threw punches at the same time and Alex slipped Jamahal's and landed his for the KO. To even suggest that anything that happened there was unfair is not only ridiculous, it actually encourages fighters to foul to get time to rest, their position reset, or otherwise benefit from not just the foul but also referee interference.
The fact that we are even discussing this means 300 was a major success because it brought a bunch of new fans in. The idea that Alex should lose his range distance because he was fouled is dumb. If fighters get put back into position on the ground, it should also happen on the feet. Why reward someone who is committing the foul? Alex just found his range right when the foul was committed
11:48 Forgot to mention another reason is the fact that Izzy met up with the tiktoker and did the meme and izzy helped Hill for this fight. Alex a straight savage
My very first sparring session I trood on the guys foot by accident and realised very quickly as the lesser skilled fighter it evened the playing field. I taught Alex everything he knows obviously
I found it very funny but it did seem a little out of character, he always looks so unshakeable but it made it seem as if he was a bit annoyed by Hill’s comments in the build up.
Robert, you really have to know the joke-and Pereira's social media wit- to understand how hysterically funny what Pereira did at the end was. It was certainly no more cringe than Hill 'catching the arrow' after Pereira's entrance😅
The ref steps in when he thinks there's something, Alex's reaction was to tell him he's okay. Hill gave a thumbs up, apologizing to Alex for the groin strike, they both bumped fists before he got knocked out, he also threw the first left cross with power that Alex slipped off and threw the left hook-uppercut
Love Robbo as a fighter, he is one of my all time faves. The Soldier of God wars make him an all time BMF hall of famer. Love Robbo's commentary too. What a legend.
I'm a massive Charles Oliviera fan, but to say he won that fight is insane. He maybe had the first round, but every round after he was getting out struck and out wrestled
Whittaker talking about the Arman v Charles fight is literally SPOT ON, no one has been this spot on about the fight yet, thank you to the both of you was a breath of fresh air to hear this after all the terrible takes I’ve heard before hand 🔥👌🏽 then rob’s reaction in the transition to the Bo fight was gold 😂 good luck Rob I hope you put on a show against chimaev and put his lights out 👊🏽
Absolutely love this podcast! I’m so excited to listen to Rob’s takes on UFC 300. You guys are awesome! I’m a Cuban from Miami but regardless…Aussie Aussie Aussie!!!! ❤ from Miami
“You fight until someone pulls you off him, you don’t leave it in the hands or anybody else, ok, that’s why leaving it in the hands of the judges is always so sketchy” - Robert Whittaker . . . who’s last 7 wins have come by decision lol. I’m just kidding with ya mate, saw the opportunity and had to take it. Those top guys are hard to finish, and hell I think some of those shut out performances like the ones against Marvin Vettori and Kelvin Gastelum are more impressive than a quick finish. With that being said here is to hoping that Khamzat breaks the streak, really wanna see Rob detail that hype train with a 1,2, headkick KO, would solidly make my year. Overall boys I appreciate the podcasts, always provide some good entertainment, and a solid few laughs. Wrote an exam today and listening to a nice chill episode of MMArcade was great to relax after. Easily my favorite podcast and frankly the only one that keeps me coming back week to week. With that being said if Rob needs to take some time to focus on camp and take a hiatus, thats completely understandable, we all wanna see you kick Khamzat’s ass so if you need to take the time for training then I think I speak for all of us when I say go for it, we will be waiting when you come back. Keep up the great work y’all. P.S The joint stream idea between y’all sound like a neat idea that I’d be game to tune in for. Edit: Would also love to see Rob get some custom shorts with the Southern Cross and Reaper logo on them, those would look awesome.
Notice how when Rob is talking ab Jamahl’s layoff he still manages to do so with respect (as opposed to the other take that was seemingly taking unnecessary digs at Jamahl)
This dude is acting like Jamahl doesn’t have that knockout power that Alex & Jiri were able to show off over the weekend…. Mans either a straight casual or baiting us for these comments harder than your average internet thirst trap
@@chefNasty00 He quite literally doesn't and he was never good which casuals like you got memed into believing. His KO/TKO rate is 58% vs. 80% of Alex and 87% of Jiri.
That is absolutely correct. Hill has power but most of its his bull like style and pressure to break guys. Walker was still awake until the 2nd shot Santo’s gassed in 4th and basically shut down under many strikes,St Prue never went down, it was standing TKO and he hit Glover w/ 232 strikes and couldn’t KO him. Good fighter, has power but we’ve seen Jiri take higher ranked fighters out with less shots, and Pereira even more so There’s just a difference ☝️🤔
If Rob needs to take timeout for camp or whatever, keep checking in with us once a week, Jonny. Apart from the fact you're a decent bloke, you gotta keep pumping the content for the channel to grow.
Cody said he was experiencing vertigo which he's dealt with in the past. I know there are plenty that think when fighters share things like this it's an excuse, but I don't tend to and anyone who's had to deal with that knows how rough it is when it hits.
Hill and Pereira touched gloves after the cup shot and then squared up, just a second or two after that the uppercut from hell took jamals soul. I get the "don't touch the ref", but that had no play in the knock out. They resumed and both were ready. Its not like Jamal got kicked in the nuts and Pereira pushed him away. He basically politely told Herb that "nah dude, Im good" and Herb obliged and gave the time in sign. Shouldnt be any controversy imo. 300 was a hell of a card though! Cody said that he has been dealing with vertigo for over a decade and thats what lead to him getting submitted in the fight..
Not buying "the controversy" It was clear Herb was gonna let them fight. They touched gloves and Jamal never took his eyes off Alex. Do I think Poatan took advantage of the millisecond of confusion? I do. Conversely do I think Jamal was completely distracted? No I don't
I think the individual who gets fouled should be able to call the ref off. It would be like in football where you can decline penalties. Its a good solution to stop fighters from intentionally fouling to escape bad situations. AND in the particular situation Hill got knocked out by a counter. Hill threw first; then got countered and went down. Hill re-initiated the fight first. If you can't call off the ref then ball kicking becomes the next fence grab solution to solve any bad positioning.
Love the pod thanks for another good one. On robs point of submission attempts should be worth nothing. Then control time should be worth nothing. Submissions are an attempt to end the fight. What is control time ?
21:10 Justin finds a way to find/retire chins It will be a sad day when Max's chin goes midnight, but his legacy is already set. Fantastic scrap. Fantastic card Great show. Trying to finish Baldurs Gate 3. Brb.
@@justinp_ that’s why I thought it was so good. I dont like those things either. The way Jamahal and his coaches dawg’d on Alex, then Hill saying when he knocks Alex out he’d rub it in everyone’s face it comes to a point where it’s like here’s an innocent non aggressive way to get some pay back then it’s over ya know.
Cody released a statement saying he was having vertigo during the fight and really made it hard to focus on the fight , sucks for him but he looked good on the feet
I seriously think Jalin Turner was so in his head about the Bobby Green fight that he just walked away from Moicano once he dropped him. I don't like how people are calling him all sorts of things but it definitely was a big mistake to not finish Moicano.
The Khaby Lame celebration was to mock Izzy who has done a skit with him, where Khaby was seeing people using a car door to cut the pizza, and he was able to show the easiest way using a fork & knife, before Izzy walked in to show him his own ANIME hand thingy to cut the pizza without izzy using his hands. Afterwards Izzy did the Khaby Lame hand thingy.
I'm so sick of people who have seen none of it, saying it's "too long". Alright, well watch 50 episodes and then decide! Or better yet, consider that watching 5 different and crappier animes over the course of however long it would take you to watch One Piece is still the same amount of time consuming anime, only you've watched 5 average ones instead of 1 great one.
@@Astrokobideadwell maybe not kick someone in the balls to begin with. And he’s paid to be a professional mix martial artist, knowing how dangerous it is how about not allowing yourself to be distracted. These things come out because he lost and he needs any excuses he can get after telling everyone he was gonna stand and knock Alex out and rub it in everyone’s face when he did.
@raywilliams7667 I literally said he looked set to lose anyway bring so unfit and slow.. but still ig herb had initiated the break he should have made them start when he wanted to not when pereira wanted
@@Astrokobidead you can literally hear the cup being struck and Hill acknowledged that he hit him with a lowblow. Hill also threw a punch before he got KO’d so this idea he wasn’t ready is silly
Question for Rob: when I watch UFC embedded, I notice that fighters either go to the hotel or in your case, you went to some house/airbnb? Do you guys have to book that separately?
One piece is my favorite show ever. In the first year i started it, i watched like 300 or so episodes and then just kept going faster and faster, but every like once in a while id stop watching for a few months and then go back to it. But robs right, you cant skip around, even some of the filler is incredible, the arcs and character development and storylines throughout is so seamless and just perfect storytelling. It’s a masterpiece in my opinion. But i completely understand not being able to watch it. I started it back when i had no job, no priorities whatsoever and it still took me years and years to get to where I am now which is episode 860. i had to wait for the dub to catch up a bunch of times too because the dub is really good and has some voice actors from dbz like zoro has vegetas voice and usopp has krillins voice, etc. but even with all that freetime it took me years, so I would never expect a top 5 Middleweight UFC Fighter to have that type of time. Once you start though you just keep wanting to get to the next arc and the next arc and it just keeps building and slow burning, it’s just incredible stuff. I wanna say you’re missing out but it is what it is. I find it funny though how some people hate it being so long but for me, i started it because i wanted the longest show imaginable that never ends because every show i watch i usually finish in like less than a week and get sad that i blew through it. So even if i try to blow through one piece, i physically cant, there’s so many episodes. And it’s still ongoing. Sorry for the long ass essay but i had to get my thought out clearly lol. And before people roast me, a long comment just means the person is very engaged with the content, its the best compliment you can really get besides subscribing. So im sorry if I annoyed anyone with the 6 paragraph comment but i’m just very engaged and interested in the show. Love the pod 🔥🔥
Damn, I had no fuckin clue Johnny worked at Bethesda. I thought he was just a random gaming youtuber rob was friends with or something, no disrespect. Just suprised me. Love the pod guys! 🙌🏻🔥
Renner Gracie was probably the one in the video you saw explaining the choke with Charles and Arman. What do you guys think of that fight would’ve been a 5 rounder?
