Roberto de Zerbi to leave Brighton at end of season

They sold a lot of players last season that they didn't replace well. He seemed frustrated in the job tbf with things he's said through the season probably best they both part ways

Graham Potter deserves more credit for how Brighton came to be.

De Zerbi is your typical Italian coach: he values teamwork above all, he absolutely rewards merit & believes everyone ought to buy into his team's philosophy but these coaches, like Conte, have trouble communicating that aspect of their philosophy that feels dictatorial. They are fundamentalist in that aspect and often provide results. The premier lg is a different animal where certain players, Fati for example, believe they ought to be given opportunities because of their stature in the game. The perpetual rotation didn't do him any favors. I've watched most of their games & i think there's been a stagnation of sorts, especially when your best players are out injured. The league is a marathon and often injuries decide who finish well at the end. Man City have everybody back on board for their push & Tottenham didn't. I just think the pressing by Brighton was not there this year due to injuries but he did improve a number of players, especially Gilmour and that Dutch CB. I am still on his biggest fans as a great coach and I think he will be given the Juventus job, where the culture is a bit more open to a strict coach.

People bashing DeZirbi should chill, he lost key cogs of his tactics in McAllister, Caicedo, Trossard & Colwill. EVERY manager will struggle in such conditions.

He was great when things were going well... when things got tough this season he showed another less impressive side which was a shame. Still, appreciate all his hard work with his staff and grateful for giving us some of the most amazing moments whilst in charge of Brighton

I think the backroom staff have played a large part in Brightons relative success. They have great scouts and technical staff who have found and developed talent from around the world at low costs and sold on for fortunes.

Well so many injuries in Brighton he clearly shows that he can manage the squad to get the best out of the team, he has been terrible this season

Friday he said he wanted to stay, a day later he's gone. Must have been approached by Bayern/Milan or even possibly Barcelona. But the Premier League fanboys will continue to say de Zerbi would never leave the league for a job in Europe.

De Zerbi is a good manager. But brighton have been in freefall for the last few months and probably best for all parties that they part ways. He'll be back in a job very soon

Sad to see him go, but feel De Zerbi and Bloom maybe didn't see the same future, with lack of new players or maybe Brighton will sell players again before the new season. Also feel Bloom may have decided De Zerbi outspoken words few months ago was a step to far ?

Yup he made the right decision - Brighton chairman did not let him keep the good players - made decisions to sell key players for profit at the wrong time - Trossard to Arsenal (2), MacAlister to Liverpool (3) Caicedo to Chelsea (6) …so now they end up not even in the top 10.

He must have a BIG project on his hands to leave them now.

Must be hard being a manager of a selling club especially after qualifying for Europe, best players sold and now the manager. Have to say Brighton are one of very few clubs not loaded with millions in the red.
