I think I saw an interview where Robin said this was a favorite Christmas caroll of his mother's. In England this is considered a Christmas caroll instead of a him. With Robin's voice it could be him singing with the angels. So beautiful.

Christmas carols make me quite emotional and I really like Robin's arrangement of this. It brings to mind the snowy winter scenes on the Yorkshire moors that one sees on some Christmas cards....minus the glitter! I'd like to add my greetings for the season. I have always LOVED this song. It is just a perfect English Christmas carol. I can envision a choir singing it in St Paul's or Canterbury Cathedral. It was originally a poem written in the 1800's and put to music in the early 1900's by Gustav Holst. It gives me chills. THANK YOU GABY, AMI, LAURIE and JANET! and thank you Robin, of course. This feels perfect for a beautiful old church where I grew up. It was a large Presbyterian congregation, and they hired college kids to play in small orchestras for the choirs at Christmas and Easter. It reminds of playing for that beautiful choir. @@janicetrimmell6897 - A few times I played my "kitchen pipes" (a muted miniature form of bagpipes) with friends, all music teachers, accompanied by harp, organ, guitar, tin whistle and a choir at a local church singing this song. In such a setting these songs are magical. Due to my lack of association with religion, I expected the church to explode but it survived. Thank you for your wishes. Did you know Robin made this album in one of the huge upstairs rooms in Prembable in Oxford which was his home. I watched the documentary of the making of this album and too be honest Chad, Robins voice wasn't as strong after Mo's death. I don't know if this was down to grief and hurt because of his fall out with Barry. His vocal was shaky, I felt his confidence had taken a knock....

I have my booster but I'm taking no chances. More restrictions brought in. I think there's 80,000 cases in UK today up from 50,000 last week. No birthdays, Christmases, Thanksgivings, Easters, family....anything, I've been so careful. At least I live in the country so I can get outside and walk my Scotties and I'm near Lake Erie and the Niagara River so there's lots of pretty places to wander. I pity people who are stuck in an apartment in a city. Thank god for You Tube. I've made a few friends here! I'm a traveler and that is certainly verboten right now with no end in sight. Maybe next year. Fingers crossed. 🤞
@@eaccristo This was recorded in 2006. He was not ill then, just grieving. A lot was going on in Robins life at this time. His life as he knew it and enjoyed, was whipped away from him after Mo's death.....

I love Robin’s Christmas cd. He mentioned that he wished the group had done a Christmas cd. They had that in their future plans but life changed plans. I love this song and his voice is magical. Love hearing him sing about Jesus. Beautiful soul. I can imagine him along with Mo and Andy singing to Jesus.
