"What a terrible man Rob Greenfield is. His position is essentially that he will leech off society for major healthcare expenses and retirement, if necessary as a last resort. Guess what? His chosen lifestyle means it is indeed quite probable that it is necessary, that society bears the cost of his decisions. I was hoping that he was an honourable man who would commit suicide if necessary as a last resort, that the depth of his beliefs would not allow him to leech from society. Sigh. Just another parasite. " ...
Hi Rob, I have to say that you’re extremely inspirational! I respect your way of living and your attitude to life. You’re very lucky having had managed to figure it all out at the beginning of your life and not by the end or even in the middle. I hope to be able to join a like-minded community of people and make this type of life a reality. Unfortunately I’ve let other people convince me to get into things that I never really wanted (marriage, kids, etc.), but I’m still not going to be very old by the time my sons will be grown ups to live differently from the lunacy of what’s called life nowadays. By that time I surely won’t have many possessions as I’m turbo getting rid of them every single day and adhering to minimizing waste, making conscious choices and following the road to enlightenment :) Until then, I keep watching your videos and make baby steps towards freedom.
At 35 I wouldn't have heard what you said; at 65 I heard every word. Thank you for showing us how to live an authentic life, at whatever stage of life we may be in.
I have never meet Rob, but I love who he is and what he stands for. I believe he is becoming and going to be one of the greatest philosophers of our time. Philosophers often focus on the bigger picture, think about big ideas, unorthodox, and go against the social norms of current society. I can’t wait to hear more from him. I hope to meet him some day. If he is ever in Sacramento he is welcome to crash in my home.
I hope he's not just a philosopher, I hope he'll make people change, not just listen his words. Personally I started living in a minimalist way before I knew about him, I'm so much finding myself in his lifestyle, I hope it inspire people, that'd solve all environmental problems
I am 60 yrs old and I am so glad to see the earth being left in the hands of young people like yourself. But, Iam just a plant based, tree hugging, animal activist, minimilist, Wiccan living in a camper with my dog and two cats.....so to most people Iam crazy
Me too. I love his message, and actually have been pondering how complicating society has become. He has inspired me to seek out a community with his philosophy.
@@rrivera_2747 lol 🤣 "Oh no. You're 23 year old has cancer? Allow us to bring him to our care clinic in the jungles of Africa!" "We've been in business for millions of years and our patients never report negative reviews!" "At Jungle Africa clinic, experience no waiting times! As soon as you walk through our enchanted natural forest, you will immediately be able to see that our care givers are at the ready and can not wait to assist you!"
''In an artificial world, only extremists live naturally" quote Paul Graham. You are only a few years older than me, but your courage and wisdom are immeasurable and are a true role model in my generation. Thank you!
Of course owning a home is a delusion. But I still wish to own a piece of land and a tiny house because I want to freely grow fruits and vegetables, have peace and comfort in my dwelling, engage in my hobbies and take care of my pets. Being around and relying on others is overwhelming. I don't know how you do it, but good for you. You're much more enlightened than I could ever be.
I find this really inspiring. It's good to be reminded that as individuals, we get to choose which aspects of society we participate in, we don't have to just do what we're "supposed" to do according the the medical system and other things. And this gives me an idea of what my life could be like if I never manage to make a lot of money. I have also done the mental calculations about health insurance and thought, it seems like in the vast majority of cases, it would save me money not to have it, since I don't have any chronic illnesses.
I am twice your age Rob, and also made a conscious choice to not have chemo or organ transplant if the situation arose. Nor did I want my own children. I'm fine with dying when the time comes, for me it's about quality and the older I get the more I simplify my life. Its liberating.
There is so much to digest...Every time I hear you speak, Rob, I leave with so much to question and sort through to create change in my life. Maybe my life can't look 100% like yours, but I know there are places that I can and will make changes.
How many times can I like this video? I love this point about health insurance. I think it applies to all insurance, really. This is an entire industry that profits from the fear of misfortunes, and legislates that we must all work to pay into it. Instead of contributing to keeping everyone healthy, which we should all do, it normalizes reckless behavior and requires us to pay for a culture that essentially insists upon reckless behavior (bullshit jobs, and getting to them by driving - driving cars is one of the most dangerous things that anyone does!). Thank you, @Rob Greenfield!
In some cultures the doctors have only been paid, if the patient was healed. I think, in that way the doctors would really try their best to help people heal. And they would be more open to other kinds of medicine. Of course some are, even in that current medicine system. And those are very valuable to me.
Oh my goodness I LOVE THIS! I just made the decision last week ~ now that I have regained my health far enough ~ I am gonna spring myself OFF Social security disability.. And THANK YOU FOR HAVING YOUR CHANNEL! You have taught me SO MUCH! 💪🙌✨✔
Thank you for sharing this amazing point of view with us, Rob. I think many people want to live a simple life, even when they have an option, but they have no models, no examples, or sometimes no courage to start it despite their conscience and values requiring it. Your testimony is fundamental to promote awareness and action in this direction. Thank you again.
I don’t think you are extreme You are living the way all humans suppose to live When I plant a tree in the yard I do not understand why I need anyone’s approval, I’m working for Mother Nature 🌬 not any human beings People always forget that rules and laws are set by humans and same they can change the rules anytime they want as well, it’s all according to a small group of ppls preferences Again, You are not extreme! If anyone told you so they haven’t wake up yet
Definitely this. You have 2 ways to live, 1 by doing everything he's doing, getting rewards for what you put in, and living life to your means and necessity. Or the way it is now 2 keeping people uneducated, increasing population for benefits of war and factories. This is where they give more money or promise better future trough(dreams, factory benefits). So now you have bigger family to worry about, you can't educate 5-6 kids at once, and no time to your self to live like a healthy human. But living with in your means, would come down to, they have to promise you a house and some bigger land to live of, and that doesn't work for greedy and factory competitive earnings.
You continue to be my hero..... I have never known anyone as ethical and brave as you are. Thank you for proving the truth of my heart ... meaning that you CAN live in an ethical, loving and faithful way on this earth in this time and you CAN take total responsibility for yourself. I support your truths.
I love you for standing by your thinking and philosophy in times where living a different life may be very stigmatized often by much of society. I love your work, virtues, truthfulness , dedication and love for Earth.
Rob, you are very brave for speaking up like this. So many people intuitively and instinctively feel the same way about many things you share throughout your message. We just don't know how to commit through to these actions because it hasn't been done before so casually and easefully. We are programmed to believe anything outside of society's structure is the deep dark unknown where great tragedy lies, but inside of society's strict regulations is tragedy itself. I'm definitely stoked to check out more of your videos and lifestyle.
I’m 65 and agree with the end of life choices focusing on value/quality of life not longevity. My 89 year-old mom has dementia and has chosen not to go to the doctor. Family members struggle with her decision and try and pressure her to do what they feel is the right thing to do. My 91 year-old mother in law spends most of her life from one medical crises to another. When she’s not in the hospital she’s worried about medical issues in the future. She spends most of her days sleeping. Because of these experiences I’ve added a dementia rider to my will and have made a decision to not go to annual medical checkups, etc. I’ve been veg for decades, vegan for 16 years. I’ve taken personal responsibility for my own health. I did sign up for medicare (65 this year) but have not used the medical system since the birth of my son 24 years ago and my intention is to not use it at all and die in my own terms. I read the Nearing books back in the late 70’s. What Scott and Helen advocated and lived was completely in-line with my thoughts and values. I have great respect for you and your way of living.
I continued to be so inspired by your lifestyle and message. It’s truly wonderful to see someone living their ideals. I would say to some who are negative on your message regarding taxes and living on someone else’s land , insurance, healthcare etc...that they are perhaps angry that they feel they have to live in the way this society functions and taking out their frustrations on you unfortunately. I do live within the “system”. I wish to not do so. I work in healthcare, I see a huge waste of resources and misuse of money and I am attempting to change my job to match my ideals of what healing and healthcare should look like. You take care of yourself and that’s what prevents you from getting sick hopefully and the rest is just not something to worry about as you pointed out. I do require health insurance as I cannot afford epi pens for my son and he has life threatening allergies. This is something that I believe is criminal and should be available to all people and as I pay taxes I wish that money would go toward funding epi pens for people who have no health insurance and cannot afford epi pens. Your lifestyle is a good one and I applaud and admire you.
Wow this is my first impression of Rob Greenfield... He is like a modern Jesus! This is great for him. Its extremely OFF-GRID! Borderline homeless. I enjoy his message. I love thrift shopping. He seems happy so I wish him well.
There can only be one Jesus. I still wonder why he’s not a Christian having a relationship with God Almighty? Love God and people. Good is not enough to get him into heaven . He still needs Jesus even though he have the basics of the value of life nailed down.
I came across his channel yesterday. I usually don't watch videos which are over 5 minutes but this man has that positive energy, that shocking thing he said that made me think a lot. He's so positive that I'm overwhelmed... Thank you...
From what I understand, you are not religious, which is fine by me, but I have to tell ya, you sure do seem to hold and live out what I personally consider very Christ like ideals, which I think is very, very cool! Keep being an amazing example and source of inspiration for all folks!
Thank you! I feel really isolated in my thoughts on this. Even though I know that lots of people feel the same. It is great to hear it from someone else from across the globe.
Precisely my sentiment from the time I was a young girl! There are enough children already here who need love. I have never, not once regretted the decision to not have children.
Your speach makes so much sense and reminds me that I'm not alone in refusing the pressures of the consumerist society and yearning for a sustainable lifestyle. You're such an inspiration, Rob!
Somehow this philosophy touched some of mine. I did retire from my corporate work at 46 to start creating an environment where I could spend the rest of my living years. A community with basic support system, with like-minded people around you, peaceful & nature-loving.
Love you brother Rob, Thank you for your transparency in which you do not have to let us in. I also choose transparency and love living to serve and not living to take.
Right!! The people who'll survive if we have an extreme solar storm is people like him and the richest of the rich, but who'll be happier? The richest will be raided and he will become a teacher.
An inspiration to those of us who think we have nothing because we are poor or houseless and without pensions. Working towards a simple life is key and you Mr Rob Greenfield are an inspiration of what this world needs. Thank you. Thank you for all your gifts🌸🌻🌹🌼🍀🌺🌷🌱🍉🍏🍊🍋🍑🍄🍒🍑🍓🍍🍇🍎🍌🍠🍢🍡🍲🍛🍚🍜🍞
Wow! Woooow! You are "literally" most powerful messages I've ever encountered! 33 years packed of wisdom... I feel move by you to such extent that I will keep changing in a more conscious way towards similar goal!!! Keep it up bro! Happiness, health and freedom, three outstanding values you embody to the extreme so that other like myself can follow an inspiring track!
Lots of food for thought in your talk. I would point out that currently Social Security provides an absolutely critical safety net for disabled and elderly populations. I believe we should try to strengthen this program, and others like them, and safeguard their erosion from those who would dismantle them. I would respectfully encourage you to recognize the need to support and strengthen social programs such at SSI and SSDI, rather than speculating on their demise.
I'm so glad to see more about this! My goals and ambitions have been so aligned with this and seeing someone on a similar path but several steps ahead is amazing.
Rob, you are the messenger to the world of extreme abundance. you inspire me a lot in a way of viewing and living. thanks from the other side of the globe.
You're incredible. What a bountiful entity of beautiful life force you are. You are manifesting returning to our humanity and natural living that we have all been forced away from by from consumerism, capitalism, and indoctrination. Thank you for sharing your message publicly.
I love the philosophy of your life, as I remember a proverb that food and clothes are enough for life. I hope I'm gonna change my mindset to live peacefully, joyfully, and simply as you live. God bless you.
I am inspired to spend more time thinking about these ideas. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking of my own security rather than thinking about how I can help the world to be a better, healthier place for all. Thank you for your thoughts and work.
You're amazing and your message comes across clearly. I live a much more convenient life than you do, and whenever I feel any discomfort about not having something, your videos remind me how much excess I already have, and that these cravings for more comfort don't need to be satisfied. There's a price to having more things - personal and environmental. It's good to hear your unique outlook.
Trying to get my girlfriend to see these different perspectives of life. I feel like a lot of the stress in her life would dissolve if she could see life a little differently.
I understand you very well, the fact is that your girlfriend like mine needs a leap in consciousness, many people have created this path which is the path of research, the first point is observation. There are many books that can open to the jump, but the words for those who do not want to listen are not enough unfortunately, but the first step is to stop and see.
You are so right. We are so delusional so in denial. It's funny how hard i'm trying to leave a ststem i worked so hard to get into. You're an inspiration.
How do you deal with the romantic isolation that this must bring you? Do you manage to find someone who can join you in this lifestyle? Just asking because this is what I would struggle with the most I think
Oh I have a feeling that he can connect easily. True love is beyond what Hollywood tells us. And also, love like we are used to, that's an attachment. Marriage is a legally binding contract, where one used to own the other.
I've had these feeling since early teenage years. You definitely brought some clarity and relatability into my thoughts and my life. Thank you, you are making a big impact, hopefully inspiring many others!
You are an inspiration... I am pre retirement... asked God how I can start my own ministry... you gave me lots of food for thought... may God bless you... Jesus is coming soon
Tell people abt Jesus 1) Jesus is a historical fact evidenced by Roman calendar ad 2020 and bc Anno dominis and before Christ 2) quran which originate from neighboring countries of jeresalem where Jesus was crucified talked abt "prophet" Jesus 3)rome is the country that invaded jeresalem. Rome started the roman calendar and roman catholic to record Jesus event as a historical fact 4) hell is created for demons. All is done for us to go heaven by accepting Jesus crucification as payment for our sins. However God cannot override our freewill. If we choose to go hell made for demons. God cannot override that
Great video! I'm contemplating cancelling my internet to eliminate one of my monthly bills! I can still watch your videos using the wifi at my mom's house! :)
xfinitywifi is broadcast from most comcast customers routers. If your parents or a friend has comcast, they can add a user for you, this allows you to use the xfinitywifi from anywhere you get the signal. I once set up a wireless mesh network for a farm I was living on and made a wifi channel public (securely) so any of my neighbors could save a bit, it's been running for 7 years or so now. Though reviled in the country, frugality is a virtue none the less.
You're such an inspiration Rob! A peaceful revolution is what this world needs and it starts with each one of us. Thank you for sharing story. Your example is inspiring so many.
So grateful to find your channel. Last years I followed a lot of coaching and I was brainwashed by all sorts of bussinesscoaches that I need a lot of money to be really free (passive income, financial freedom etc). However it seems that in order to gain this money I have to invest a lot of years to become ‘rich’ and meanwhile not doing what I like, and getting more distanced from my dreams.
I am truly pleased to hear the message you speak in this video... It goes straight to what I've been thinking since I left college 3 years ago about the lifestyle of today's society and how I want to live my life. I didn´t know your channel before and fortunately for some reason one of your videos appears on the related videos... Feels soo good to hear someone with the same vision that I have, it's very rare in a formatted society where most live on the same model!
What an inspiration you are to me Rob Thank You so much! Please make a video about what you feel about Peter Joseph and The Zeitgeist Movement with a Resource Based Economy.
Your life philosophy tallies nicely with a spiritual leader I admire, named Ajahn Brahm. As a Buddhist monk who had renunciated all material possessions, he talked about having security in the form of the goodness that he spread over the decades, the good karma he accumulated and his faith in humanity; someone will take care of him when he is too sick or old to function. These monks live very simply with no money, no social security, no savings, no houses, no phones etc. and primarily depend on the generosity of worshipers or laypeople to bring them food in return for their spiritual services. Your chosen lifestyle just reminded me of their lifestyle and how these simple lifestyles result in the most happiness, peace and joy. Thank you for being an inspiration to so many of us.
Love your concept! Neither do I! I don’t believe in tax, health insurance and the current medical 🏥 system; I don’t need ppl cut me open and play with my body before I die Keep on growing 👍 to stay away from hospital 🏥 remember eat whole food plant based And yes we human are really over populated.
Jasondurgen people who trust the medical 🏥 system they are all dead around age 65, in our generation there are already ppl start to die at age 35, if people don’t wake up there will only be more ppl dying
I never in my life have insurance or trust it...I dont trust a bank...I put all my money in gold, so rat dont it, last time keep cash rat ate my cash money, cash made from paper, rat left half of the bank note
Rob!! You are the man!! Wow!! I am 78 yrs old and you have made me think a lot. I live a very simple life too and accept death as part of it. But now I have more to think after hearing your fantastic talk. Wow!! thank you, young wizard, fantastic man. Blessings.
His statements on marriage was quite interesting. He mentions governmental marriage, and doesn't mention the religious marriage. I would love to hear his thoughts on religion.
Thank you for this. I’ve been feeling so very out of place these past few years. It’s really too much to go into so I will spare the class 😉 I think deeply about things too and I’m often “accused” of thinking “too much.” I don’t understand how living mindfully is a bad thing. I’ve been trying to figure out how I can live my best life in a world I don’t fit into. I’ve made a lot of progress these past few years… but the things you discuss in this video are things I’ve been thinking a lot about and haven’t had much in way of solutions. Thank you for having your life on display and living with many of philosophies I have… that I struggle living out in a society built against it. Thank you for showing there IS a way!
I feel proud to say that you're someone I look up to. That's how awesome you are! Making me feel good about myself just for having you in my life haha. You are truly an amazing human being! Thank you very much
I liked the part talking about health insurance at 26:23 "Health insurance in the United States is a part of this place and this time. I have chosen not to just blindly buy into that system. If you look at the bigger picture, humans have existed for 99.999% of their existence without health insurance." "I practice deeply preventative healthcare. That is central to my "health insurance." My insurance is investing in my body every single day"
my heart joins yours in song :) have you heard of Charles Eisensteins "the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible"? really aligned with your message
love that there are no ads. for stuff! right on dude The main reason for Going plant based was my health, it's obviously grown to be fully Vegan now and environmentally friendly too. One great idea is to "Pay it Forward!"
