When this album came out we were young and it was the day of the eagle, now it seems we're at the bridge of sighs these days, but it's all good because we can jam to Robin's great work. Thanks for the memories!
Robin Trower is a World Class Guitarist / Axeman! ~ In the wake of releasing the new LP, he has (sadly) had to cancel the remainder of the USA Tour. We will wish him well & let him know that we hope for his speedy recovery and RETURN!
A top Classic album smoked alot of weed listening to this and other Trower albums. One of the greats from the 70"s. Seen Robin Trower countless times since 1974
Remember powerhitters? Smoked lots of in my car with the 8 track player blasting this album, nose hits with a powerhitter with friends, LOL. And we were just teens, ha ha
This album has been a part of most of my life, it opened my eyes to a whole new area of the musical universe... thank you, Robin! RIP, Jimmy Dewar - greatest blues rock singer ever.
Turning 16 in '73', a friend popped in an 8-track tape of RT, and I've been a huge fan and admirer ever since. The top three guitarists ever, in my opinion, Robin Trower, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Gary Moore! 🙏🏻
For me, after Jimi Hendrix, the best guitarist with language with the wah wah effect, a masterful and unsurpassed Blues technique, quite UNDERRATED, unfortunately other later ones were valued just for playing faster, but the listener and lover of music values the feeling, not the speed, he already played stadiums in his concerts before they were born.. ✨✨✨✨✨🎵🎵🎶🎶🎸🔊 ROBIN TROWER
Tracks like Day of the Eagle and Too Rolling Stoned inspired many an aspiring guitar player to want to learn how to play lead solos on a Stratocaster. To this day I still haven't heard anything like the guitar playing on this record. May the guitarist who inspired millions enjoy a speedy recovery. Looking forward to your return Robin!
This was is the greatest psychedelic blues rock recording ever made Trower never made another Bridge of Sighs but has released some phenomenal material over the years😊❤
50 years well aged and still timeless. Robin Trower's second album is, and I'm going out on a limb here, the continuation of what Jimi Hendrix was unable to complete. Without being branded as a cheap copy, but rather as the steward of a certain body of sound that characterised entire generations. The key element is Robin Trower's ability to place the guitar playing in the foreground without appearing egocentric. With bassist/vocalist James Dewar and Reg Isodore on drums, a blues-inspired masterpiece was created in a classic trio line-up. The album celebrates its anniversary with an opulent 44 track retrospective (the complete album in the familiar version, purely instrumental, concert recordings, outtakes).
One of the first songs I learned to play when I finally got an amp. Bridge Of Sighs, I was blown away how good it sounded amplified, then I got to be in the front row, feet away from Trower cranking it, right in front of his amp. I was blown away again, by the master.
I remember the first time I heard this. I was 14 and I got the record as soon I could. Two things I didn't realize at the time. One, it was his second solo album, and two, I'd been listening to him playing in Procol Harem way before I'd heard this.
I bought my first BoS end of June, 1974.. 2nd vinyl by the time I saw Robin open for Dave Mason - Sept- Oct 74 Spectrum SRO on the floor In 2 weeks, I bought Twice removed, 4 Procols Live-Edm, Gr Hotel, Exotic, and Barricades, It was a listening stretch ( 5 weeks) of PARAMOUNT importance! I bought the Procol catalog, Mathew Fisher... Saw Robin, March 1975 , " For Earth Below. Now Robin was headlining with Brian Auger as opener!
Chrysalis needs to release the rest of the recorded live and studio works that were recorded by Robin Trower back in the day for the intire awaitng community.
