Thank you. I once could never imagine myself having the chops enough to approximate this heaviest and dreamiest of rock classics, and your lesson has literally made a dream come true for me. And your comments about the man himself, his tone and talent, spot on. I've blown a lot of friends' minds over the years introducing them to this album. Truly a special artist and guitar god, Robin Trower. Thank you again.
Mr. Stache: Great lesson sir. I have to say, I've learned more from your channel in a year than I did on my own in the last 30. Keep 'em coming! Thank you!!!
just started playing the guitar, but i can't tell you how much i have learned from you, going slow then at a normal speed with good camera work has really helped, have always loved Trower. I'm 54 years old but its never too late to just have fun, thanks alot stache!
Seen Trower back in the day, front row at a small venue, he melted my face off, he wasn't 347 years old yet , he just had a b -day on doctober the 38th and was just a pup at 124, rock on bruh!!
Trower came to Orlando about 6 months ago. He was about 70 and still electrifying. He was spot on, flawless. Amazing. I missed ever seeing Hendrix live. Do NOT miss finding Robin Trower playing live. His technique is still unique. Heavier strings, tuned down, and rarely using his mid or bridge pickup.
I am so happy that someone has made a guitar lesson so easy to understand! I just started to play guitar again after 20yrs. I have the time now, got my strat and a cool amp now. trower, srv, hendrix, eric gales, and so on. thanks man.
I saw Robin Trower a few weeks ago in K'zoo, what a player! Saw David Gilmour last year in the Windy City, my favorite. It is sad the Masters of Classic Rock are slowly leaving us. That period in music will never be repeated.
Dude, I love me some Trower. Met him and got his autograph on a cd I bought after a great show here in Houston. Thanks for the video. Now I'm a subscriber.
Thanks Papa! As a big Trower fan, this is my fav. lesson you do. It is great. You do such a good job teaching. So, laid back and easy to follow. Papa's & Marty's the best lessons on web. Thanks again. Keep Jammin! Enjoy Life!
Met up with Robin in 1992 at the old Huntridge Theatre in LV.NV. where i used to live and he was way cool ! He really put on on Hellofa psycodelic blues rock show I'll never forget !!! He gave a bro hug and hand shake. He asked i wanted to show him around Vegas and have a few biers . I certainly did at the Hard rock cafe. Took a limo there then showed Mr. T. the downtown strip on Las Vegas Blvd. What a hell of a blast that night 👍🎶
@@BrettPapa Dear Bret , thanks a ton for your amazing input on the Lollar pickups bro! You rock! Heading out to where i used to live to see my famillie in Konzert The Scorpions in Las Vegas, Nevada. Then , Klaus , Rudy , & Matthias will want to definitely hang out with me and Peggy after the show for some biers and food. Anyways , it quite a long story How i know them . It's through my wife. Love to answer any of your questions pertaining to this wonderful story. Wishing you all God's very best and a nice weekend too! Sincerely- Eddie.
Your first few strums put a smile on my face. You sure can play it. I hope I can learn to do the same. It is, of course, one of the great blues icons of its time.
Love this song and love you showing how it is played. Really like how you give what is needed the basic ideas without too much detail on any specific derivations he might do. He improvised a lot and that and part of the greatness he had and the fun in playing for many. Just need the heart of it to follow and play. Thank you!
Nice. Picking up the guitar again after years of not playing. Like learning all over again, but it's coming back much quicker. This is one of my all-time favorites from back in the day. Watched another guy doing it but he blew through it too quickly for a beginner or intermediate player. Your instruction was perfect. Thanks!!!
My guitar instructor was a Trower Clone in like 73. He even wore his hair like Robin Trower back in the early seventies. You know Trower does those lead beginning licks on the B string third fret &5th fret, you're doing it on a different position, but it's the same note nbd....
Way to spread the Rock and Roll Love Papastache. Its great that your passing on some of this killer music to a new generation. Keep up the good work.........!
Every single one of your lesson videos is FANTASTIC! Your style and tone are really great, your playing of the songs is right on and your instruction makes those of us who are guitarded feel like we can actually do this sh...stuff! Thanks for taking the time to make these videos to help all of us out. Cheers, man!
Absolute killer sound! That first chorus chord has always given me chills. I learned to play bass with this album. Always played around on guitar and knew I wasn't playing that chord right. I hit a G but now I'm saved and can hit that sumbitch anytime I want! Thanks
Right On Papa! Iv'e been wanting to learn this song for a long time... used an Accel Uni vibe pedal which was around 30 buck or so...perfect Trower tone when added to my boost & dist. pedal.
@@BrettPapa You are the only guy that I think of, when I want to learn something my man! I have your Hendrix Style dvd's, and that series helped my groove and feel for heavy blues tremendously.
The first chord of the chorus is just a C minus the B#. So just play a C but leave the second string (B string) open. Then A and G. The fourth chord (after the single notes) is basically a B#7 except you're playing the 1st and 2nd strings open. The last chord is a bit convoluted. I find it much easier to just put my forefinger on the 2nd fret/5th string and my ring and pinky fingers on the 4th fret/3rd and 4th strings respectively. It basically sounds the same. Works for us old arthritic guys anyway.
hey papastache,i'v been trying to figure this song out for a long time,i just got a whirlwind phaser, and now i got the sound.now i just got to practice it some more, your a great teacher thanks a lot man, keep it up!!
Thanks for this one man. It's weird how ya play guitar most of your life, but you still get chills when you learn the stuff you loved as a young teen. I had the 8 track lol I'm almost 60 and when I hit that Em 7sus oh man that's cool. Some of the most iconic licks are so easy.,
@@BrettPapa Thank you Brett for teaching us all these songs we grew up with. You are an awesome teacher with the technical things and simplistic enough for a beginner to understand. 🤙
Hi Brett, how's life in the fast lane? Today's practice I chose Trower and since I missed you so much , I thought it have you show me the fills again. Take care Papa.
Really appreciate this. The video supports my method of improvisation only to find out it's pretty close to what you do. Picked up some good phrases here. Thanks man for taking time to make this. The younger folks should go out and buy the album(s). Seen Robin many times over the years and he is one hell of a guitar player. He's down to earth and always has time for the fans and questions. I saw him last in Jacksonville FL at a Shriner's auditorium along with Peter Frampton as opening! Tell you what, that was the best $12 I have ever spent, yep $12. And got to talk to Robin and Peter... Ah, the good old days. Big thanks again for the video, good to see his music is inspiring the newer generation. Jam on...
12 bucks?? MAN, you got ripped OFF!!! haha (kiddin') Miss the days when you could get a whole SUMMER's WORTH a tix for Summerstage in Central Park for like $50. or less. Talkin' $5. a show (for good seats) or $3. for floor space I think. I KNOW it was CHEEP!!! But I'd GLADLY go back to even $20. for a regular show ticket! Cheers!
Being old enough to recall Trower when he first came to attention. Interviewers trying to sound informed asked Robin about Hendrix knock offs , to the man's mild annoyance.Where do Hendrix and Trower persistently overlap that much ? Robin is his own man.Plenty of guys have borrowed from him.
This is so badass! I've loved this song forever now it makes me actually want to try picking up a guitar again even though I've got neuropathy now in my ring and pinky fingers from my bad neck getting worse over the past couple years pretty well stopping my guitar playing. This tutorial was so clear and easy to understand that even someone that hasn't played in years feels interested to give it a try and this is not the easiest piece but it sounds so damn badass. I'd love to master it. I'd feel like I'd done something with what's left of my life! Lol
dude..love playing guitar with ya..never could figure out the tuning on this Trower song.. thanks so much for clarifying.. it's always a pleasure to learn from you! I've been playing this guitar for over 50 years and it's still a learning lesson for me.. and I read music! lololol thanks again
Thanks for the lesson, Papastache. I'm a beginner/intermediate and find your videos very helpful and easy to understand. Any chance you could do an "About to Begin" lesson? Thanks.
Good one! Way to break down Trowers unique approach, and most importantly to introduce a great player to the up-n-comers who may otherwise be overlooked... keep it up brother
First time you barre B and E string 3rd fret you can also play open G, 2nd time just the B and E, gives the 2 a subtle difference, saw Trower live and I'm sure this is how he plays it. Great lesson thanks
Oh Yea, I just did C him~last week in Huntington at the paramount! They changed the layout for the better! Great Venue especially to see Robin! He was GREAT! Need I say more...!!! "....Rocked till the sun don't shine, cause'n it doesn't shine, no more..."
thanks for this video...i love trower...this is one of my favorite songs he did...and i have tried learning it for years...your video is great...so i suscribed...and shared it to my facebook page so my friends can learn about your page...
Wow! This just popped up on my play list while watching a Robin Trower interview! Look at you from five years ago! LOL! Dang Brett! You've been doing these videos for a long time!
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've been trying to figure out this song for I don't know how many years. You made it easy and it helped that I realized that I have a Univibe on my V-Wa. You gotta have the Univibe to really make this song work. I suggest adding some delay too. Robin Trower is amazing.
Man, you have a true talent...dumbing it down enough that even I could understand! Bravo...keep up the great work! Oh, wish you could explain one day, the process you use to figure it out! Someone once asked Trower how Hendrix influenced his style of playing...interesting response...but I dont want to misspeak it, but the jest of it was that he never tried to copy him, but wanted to comprehend the musical thought approach of Hendrix.
Yeah, that is a good way to put it. I can hear the influence from Hendrix but never felt like he was copying Hendrix. Thanks for checking out the vids! Glad you lie them.
