As a person living with depression, I remember crying when I learned of his passing. My thought was if he can't find help, what hope is there for the rest of us? He was such a true gem. I will always miss him.
I hope you can find peace. Dealing with bad depression for 20+ years myself. Hell that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Try to keep reaching out, be in nature, get excercise if you can. If I can manage to get up and out, excercise helps as any med. Did 8 Ketamine infusions over the past few years which was helpful though I'm sure not for everyone. Take care of yourself best you can. And yes Robin was such an amazing, talented person.
No two people have the exact same brain chemistry. The longer we live, the more we understand about the way the brain and the body work. Millions of chemicals and electronic signals....it's room for a lot of variation. There is always hope. How much, depends on how life is going for you today. Small steps can result in huge change.
Please remember, Robin did not just suffer depression. Would that it could have been so. The disease he had not only had no cure, and not much in the way of palliative relief, but would, ultimately, literally have robbed him of his mind. "Lewy body dementia (LBD) is a disease associated with abnormal deposits of a protein called alpha-synuclein in the brain. These deposits, called Lewy bodies, affect chemicals in the brain whose changes, in turn, can lead to problems with thinking, movement, behavior, and mood."
I was not just depression!!!!!! Please read and pass this mis information on. If you study lewy body dementia you will see no amount of therapy or anything once it's got a hold could possibly help nothing it wasn't depression that took him for heavens sake!!GEEZ I HAVE GOT TO STOP HERE NO ONE'S ASKING ME TO COMMENT BUT IT'S REALLY MAKING ME SICK SO MANY OF YOU THINK IT WAS DEPRESSION ,WHERE DID YOU GET THAT? Once in awhile I'll come across a Robin Williams clip.. and for a moment there's this disbelief that he's actually gone. He was so full of life and no matter what, he had something funny to say. His own unique view on things that would often just make me burst out laughing. He was a brilliant comedian and the world was fortunate to have his presence. He really was a gift. RIP Robin. I hope you're cracking them up along with Farley, Candy, Belushi and others.

He was in my AA group in San Francisco and he was the not only the funniest but the nicest kindest person one could have the pleasure of meeting. He suffered in a lot of silence and I wish he would have let more people know what was going on so he wouldn't have taken his own life.. sad
Thank you for being apart of a group that tried to support him. AA does a lot of good. The group itself may have prolonged his life more then you might think. Just knowing he was not alone.
Thank your for sharing this. Mental Health community care AND self-care/mindfulness SO CRITICAL NOW than ever before. It is our lifeline. To this day, I feel like RW one of my own family, perhaps because I felt some of this mental pain though in many lifetimes I won't have his uber comic wit genius. I live in the SF bay area and now wish I could have met him live at the Thockmorton Theatre, Mill Valley, CA where he would often appear during Comedy night (along with Mort Sahl), I am told. A gem of a human being and talent Divine! So missed. RIP.

I still live with sadness in my heart with the loss of such great human being as Robin Williams was.. I never met him in person, just on movie theaters and TV yet I always felt that he was authentic.. My heart goes out to his family and I wish they know that R.W. was one of the best.. And this coming from my opinion. The opinion of an 81 years old woman!

It really takes a lot of energy to be Robin Williams, and when you're the funniest man around there is no one else to amuse you and he sure burned through that energy very fast. RIP mad clown. We will always love and miss you.

His mentor, Jonathan Winters, kept him going. Winters himself had some dark times. He was institutionalized for about 6 months in the early 60s, I believe.

Unfortunately he had memory loss, self awareness issues, dementia and other issues. He had to many to list. Surprisingly Depression was not a part of this issue. Very sorry that you are gone. Mickey Mouse as a character witness on Michael's trial to Spngebob Hot Pants - good god, out of control laughter - there are so many jokes and characters/impersonations within seconds by Robin that I can't even begin to list. And they are so hilarious, yet critical yet totally respectful but mainly just perfectly hilarious. And so down to earth and authentic. It's a treasure and form of therapy to have these videos available.

I heard on one of these youtube video's that Robin came from a fairly well off family. Obviously didn't go to his head as he seems like a very generous, down to earth working class type of guy. Absolute genuis and sorely missed.

Robin was able to cheer him up for the first time after his accident that left him paralyzed. He showed up as a Russian gynecologist, to examine a pregnant lady. Made Chris laugh. for some reason i can picture this scene in my head in detail :)

From the first time I saw Robin, I was laughing a lot and it's been that way ever since. He was my favorite comedian because I could keep up with his quick wit going in a million directions. You are sorely missed Robin.
Robin Williams was a genius .... in many areas! His comfortable revealing of himself and his genius was through comedy! His agony would sometimes show through. I loved the man Robin Williams. I prayed he would find his way to a peace that he could live with. 😪
Met him once in Prince Rupert BC. He was coming off four days of partying on a cruise boat where Little Feat was the onboard band and guests of Bill Gates included Deepak Chopra, Debbie Reynolds, Jean Michel Cousteau, Quincy Jones and Jeff Goldblum. Robin was tired but he was still going a mile a minute spinning out dazzling, incredible spiderwebs of words. Totally brilliant and irreplaceable and we miss him so much.
