This is not a show for children. This is a cult program PURE ROCK for heavy metal fans that was broadcast late at night on the Japanese TV station TBS in the 1980s. I didn't know that Cheap Trick was appearing when they came to Japan in 1988. This is a very valuable video.
wow, I remember this, when I was in high school. Since this program PURE ROCK was broadcast in the midnight, I recorded and watched this again and again. Robin's singing voice was very beautiful and impressive. And I remembered that Rick praised the puppets. 懐かしい‼高校の時、深夜にやってたPureRock この回もビデオに撮って見たのでギター弾き語りしてたの覚えてる。 今聴くと、ロビンの歌声は1/f 揺らぎがあるように思います。とても耳に心地よい。
I almost forgot what a great voice this guy has... Killer. No studio, no effects, just pure talent. Let's see some of these newer 'singers' try that.........
No Effects ? hehe Listen to it again I'm pretty sure there was a decent amount of Reverb there, trust me but yeah, no auto tune but make no mistake .... Reverb was added while he was singing, that's clear as day as for NO STUDIO what do you think this is , it's a Set / Studio it's optimized for sound and Video now Even though he has PURE TALENT, no question about it, this what you heard is NOT his PURE talent it's PURE TALENT + Reverb + Possibly compression and a few other things to jazz up the tone, but basically it's him
What a fun show! That's hilarious. I also saw the one where Def Leppard band are talking to the muppets as well. The 80s sure had some good rock banks. Loved both Cheap Trick and DL.
I'm trying so hard to look like him, Robin is a great influence for me and my music... this song in particular is one of the best ballads of all time... It works so great with just an acoustic guitar and singing... Thanks Cheap Trick for rockin' my world!
In 1987 - 1989 I was at Rick's house after school for like 5 hours every day because Rick's was in my class and my mom must have been friends with his nanny (Nana). We had a field trip and my mom took the class to the cottage Lincoln stayed at (it sucked), but Dax took everyone to Rick's studio and recorded a track of everyone singing together, then back to his house which blew all the teacher's hair back. I'm almost 40 now and I don't think I will ever own a domicile bigger than Rick Nielsen's kids tree house (which was like 3000 square feet I swear). I think of this now because I remember when The Flame premiered for the first time as a music video and watching it at their house - it was a big deal at the time because that was like a make or break moment (many years later I read about this song). Sucks bc I was too young to understand that the 14 story house I was playing electrician (yeah we idolized electricians) in was the property of one of the few people who own a real 1959 Les Paul and more (great) guitars than anyone on earth - and a Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Legend. I miss Rockford, not the Crime but: Cheap Trick...
Love the Michael Schenker Group poster in the background!! First time I saw CT in 1980, MSG opened up for them, my ears are still ringing from that show!!
I saw this video on TV in real time at that time. I took this in my VHS tape still I have. "Ghost town " PV followed this portion which was eliminated from this post.
Hugely popular. Especially in Japan. Robin was an extremely effective frontman, chicks loved him. Unlimited poontang. This weird thing with puppets has a real Nippon culture, 1980s tone. It's ingenuous and charming.
OMG...this is such a classic clip. Can you imagine a rock group drinking beer on the muppets show😂😂😂 Dog bless the japanese culture! Just 1 question Shouldn't they b drinking Asahi or Sapporo if they are in Japan 🍺Super awesome video😎
Love everything about this!! Want to hang out and joke with them and have beautiful Robin serenade me while sipping some good Bourbon My kind of Sesame Street🤗🥃🎸🔥💋🖤 Have seen CT 3 times in the last couple years and again very soon this Fall…they Rock as great as ever 🤘🙌🏁
