Sorry for the long wait! This is a lengthy video, but this tutorial will teach players how to make an idle, walking, and running animations for their mech template. This video is a continuation of the previous tutorial, so if you haven't watched that yet, please do! It's okay if you don't want to watch the previous tutorial, because this video still goes through the basic formulas and logic blocks that are used for making the functions that are shown in this tutorial.
The next video will be about implementing animations that can be activated through a keybind using lists. Stay tuned!

hey man, ive been following this tutorial series. at parts you've mentioned using lists to make animations? i was wondering if you could give me a quick rundown on how that would work. i figured it would be something like using the position grabber mode to get each IK position for each frame, and then adding those to the main list for an animation for each keyframe. then using some sort of system to grab those positions and apply them to the mech when the animation is triggered? its perfectly fine if you dont though. great tutorial series btw

you're actually correct on this one lol, we pose our mech then we grab the vectors and put it on a list create. then we use a list get vector which feeds into the animation handler! to play the animation, we switch between the two poses (the two vectors) that we've recorded. for example, a pose for a wind up punch, and another pose for throwing the punch.

could you explain how to hook up the leg height for running? Ive wanted to adjust the running leg height but you made it feed through the same constant

I answered this through discord, but if anyone wanted to have a separate leg height for the running, you'll need a switchbox that switches between the two configuration constants, then feed the output of the switchbox into where I connected the leg height constant in the video

So I tried to use my controller for the walking mechanism. I connect the throttle output to the speed (since the controller supports it). But whenever the speed changes, it the leg is resetting (going back to its normal position) before walking again at the desired speed. How do I fix that?

Once I got to the running/ walking anims and input them to the animation handler, I held w to test and my arms and legs would just fold into each other. How do I fix this?

17:29 what do i put for X here?? i dont have any side offset because my mechs hips dont rotate in that direction also it would be useful to explain what is going on with some text here because its quite a lot

a problem with my animation now is that when it is running, the legs are maybe 30 degrees backwards to the body which would make it fall backwards if i were to use it

Side offset is optional, it's only if you want your legs to be a little bit spread out. I don't understand what you're saying for the 30 degree part, could you elaborate abit more? That would help alot

@@Telophorus whats basically happening is im enabling my mech, when it does the walking/running animation the legs move backwards imagine the legs are like on a clock and they are facing down towards 6 but then when i press W or S it will snap to somewhere between 7 or 8 then do the animation, i also cant turn the servos a few degrees to stop this because then the idle animation is weird

@@lime6802 Okay, heres some suggestions for troubleshooting. - If your walking/running animation starts where your leg starts abit forward, there might be an offset somewhere in the Z axis for the animation logic. You can figure this out if this is the case by connecting the Z axis into a number display and see if it starts at 0 or not. - Might be a clock problem aswell where the clock doesn't start at 0 and starts at a random time? Check the clock circuit for the walking/running animation and see if theres any problems with that

does the lenght of the limbs include the motors?

the length of the limbs is only up until the center of the servos

@@Telophorus Im sorry but i still have another problem, im currently at the idle animations, and when i deploy the mech it doesnt go up and down like in 9:21, instead the limbs connect to each other slowly and swings rapidly on all directions. When i press the button that toggles the build into position grabber mode, they stop but doesnt return to their straight position and doesnt follow the vector global position block. I re watched the tutorial multiple times and re did the logic but it doesnt seem to change
