@@TK-7193 Yes and no. The big 3 were at some point intentionally written to be not just female, but feminine as well. Lewis, is shown to be tough as nails, but she also shows her vulnerability and compassion, her loyalty and bravery, and best of all ... she's not just some generic love interest. It's the difference between Wonder Woman and Captain Marvel. One is a vibrant well written character, who is the embodiment of femininity, strength, and compassion. Some trivia - Rob Bottin designed and built the Robo Suit and did the make up in the scene with Toxic waste, melting Emil. He's the same guy who did the crazy make-up effects in The Thing. The scenes with non walking ED-209 were all miniature models and the stop motion was done by Phil Tippet. He also did the dino stop motion in Jurassic Park.

Phil Tippet is legendary in his own right for being the co-creator of Go-Motion; which, was put to great use in Dragonslayer. Game of Thrones was inspired by Vermithrax from Dragonslayer, definitely one of the coolest realistic ideas for a dragon.

7:00 In the Falklands War of 1982, Lieutenant Robert Lawrence of the Scots Guards was shot in the back of the head by an Argentinian sniper with a 7.62mm round. It shattered his skull, and 45% of his brain flew into the air and was lost to the winds. Not only didn't he die, but he didn't even lose consciousness. He survived five or six hours on the mountainside, a one hour helicopter ride, eight hours in triage at the field hospital, and rudimentary surgery. He is still alive today and retains both his personality and his memory. Headshots do kill, but not necessarily. Or at least not straightaway.

YES!! LOVE THIS MOVIE!! Before Peter Weller was cast as RoboCop, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Armand Assante, Michael Ironside, Rutger Hauer, Sylvester Stallone, and Tom Berenger were considered. Weller was cast as he was the only person to fit the suit. Weller lost 3 lbs a day from wearing the suit, which had an AC unit inside to prevent him from passing out. It was 110 degrees in Dallas Texas where they were filming. Weller couldn't eat any solid food except for Ice Cream, Yogurt, Oat Meal and PBJ Sandwiches. The film was a box office and critical success, making $60 million dollars against a $13 million dollar budget. It won the Oscar for Best Sound Editing. The stop motion animation effects were done by Oscar Winning VFX artist Phil Tippett whom did VFX for Star Wars, Willow, Jurassic Park, and Starship Troopers. It's now considered to be one of the best Sci-fi Action movies ever made.

One reason this movie is incredible is its high level satire of corporatocracies. Its criticism of the military industrial complex, other forms of corporate welfare, gentrification, heartless and psychopathic business values, police suppression of the poor instead of addressing the causes of poverty, promoting technology that industry profits from at taxpayers' expense, infotainment, privatization, commercialism, consumerism, business propaganda, etc. It's not just an action movie with an amazing musical score, acting, special effects, set design, etc. With appreciation of its accurate satire, the movie deserves a 10 out of 10. Robocop is one of my top five favorite movies for several reasons.

The behind the scenes definitely are worth a watch. Paul the director at first wasn't interested in the movie and his wife convinced him to take another look at it which got him interested in doing the movie. That and it took them several cuts to get it from an X rating (or NC--17 or something like that an American rating basically that not one under 17 or 18 is allowed in). Like they had to cut down the guy getting shot by the ED-209 and some of Murphy getting shot. One part in particular being Alex getting shot in the head.

They were putting certain officers in high risk jurisdictions intentionally so they could have a subject for the Robocop project. As far as using the officers corpse, it's illegal to abuse or misuse a corpse, but these officers signed releases which basically gave the company the right to do whatever they wished.

Robocop (Murphy) really is a machine. They deleted Alex Murphy's long-term memories, and constructed a cyborg around what was left of his brain. The mannerisms are muscle memory, and one of the few things OCP didn't trash. This story is about a machine discovering it has human feelings and shadowed memories of its former life, and how it comes to terms with its existence. And that's not my take, that's the director saying that.

You two are a great couple. I always enjoy your reactions, and I really liked this one too. I have to admit though, when they said, "Fire at will", I was confused. There wasn't anyone named Will in this movie, was there 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣???

People always talk about the “blood and gore” of Murphy’s death. But the part that makes me wince is the sound/echo of him screaming.

If you're wondering why they don't use blood squibs in movies anymore is because Robocop 1&2 used them all

This could NEVER have worked as a kids/family film (as the 2014 remake confirmed) in fact this was one of the major hurdles they came up against when trying to get the film made. The major studios would ONLY put up the money if it was done for a family audience, or they wanted major changes to the script, this is why the studio that also gave us TERMINATOR (independent Orion pictures) produced ROBOCOP, the intention was ALWAYS to make this for an adult audience, the social satire & politics would have gone over the heads of most kids seeing this as well as frightening them of course. ROBOCOP is terminator (in the sense that he is almost unstoppable)BUT as a trajic anti-hero

Watch director Paul Verhoeven's older movies, the ones he made before ''Robocop'', like his Dutch masterpiece ''Soldier Of Orange'' (1977) and his first English language movie ''Flesh + Blood'' (1985). And then later on (like everybody does on RU-vid) his two other American SF classics, ''Total Recall'' and ''Starship Troopers''. Greetings from The Netherlands.

I have been following you for a while. Love your reactions. I have both special editions of Robocop 1 and 2. The first is of course the best but I think part 2 gets a bad rap and is underrated. Is there any chance you’ll be doing a reaction to part 2? Would love to see it.

The Robocop remake was more of a "re-imagining" - and that's what I want from a remake: give me a new take or spin on the original. Therefore, comparing the two is comparing apples to oranges. Both are good. That said, if I'm gonna sit down with a pizza and watch Robocop, I'm watching the original :)

Yes ! Watch "ROBOCOP 2" (1990) ! It's really good. Same actors (Murphy, Lewis and the OCP boss) and it's directed by I. Kershner, the director of "StarWars : the Empire strikes back" ! 👍
