BTW 13:24 - IK where we are at! We are near GTOger's Parking lot! XD I remember him showing that in his tour of his neighborhood! #DrumBeatsNation Also 16:38, gotta love how For the Longest Time is running!
@@Our80sLife Really enjoyed it, seeing a couple explaining everything also makes it better, I’ve seen a few single people doing similar videos but you 2 seem to have a brilliant connection ❤️
Great video. I used to live in Oklahoma City back in the 1980s when I was a kid, and every once in a while we would go to Dallas. I have no idea which building it was in Dallas, but in one of them I remember they had a life-size Robocop suit/model. It was pretty awesome, especially for a 7-year-old.
Wow, awesome video. Now I'm going to have to watch Robocop tonight and see all these places. I grew up in the Dallas area and never knew it was filmed here until I was much older.
@@Our80sLife I watched the movie last night and wanted to ask if you knew what roads or highways Robocop was driving on when he was "patrolling the city."
This was fascinating! Robocop is one of my favourite movies but living outside of US I had no idea it was all in Texas. Amazing what a good story can distract you from!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching! Fun Fact: Robocop II was actually filmed in Houston, Texas. We'll be visiting there later this year and making a video of those filming locations as well. Stay tuned!!
Moved to Dallas in 84 after college, spent a ton of time then in the downtown area. Saw Robocop right when it came out of course, and knew right away all the various filming locations. Very distinctive exterior shots for sure.
Good eye! We read that Dallas was chosen because it had several buildings with a futuristic look. Dallas City Hall is especially distinctive! Thanks for watching our video Neil!
Me too, until we did the research for this video! Dallas is my hometown, and I didn't even realize it was filmed there. We love hunting down filming locations! Thanks for stopping by our channel Randall :)
The BEST part about this video is seeing the two of you actually enjoying EACH OTHER'S COMPANY!!! THAT'S what REAL LOVE IS!!! Congratulations to you BOTH!!!
@@Our80sLife Wow, that's AWESOME!!! For MOST of life I've PRAYED that I would find a beautiful woman that I loved and who loved me equally that was also my best friend! I'm glad to see that it IS "possible"!!!
I met Peter Weller back in 2012 when he came to a show with Gabourey Sidibe. I was working the front door, and he comes in and says “I’m Peter Weller, I’m here with the Gabourey Sidibe group”. Y’all, I nearly about had a CONNIPTION. My childhood hero was standing right in front of me. It was so surreal, but he’s really just the nicest guy.
Also, Dallas Native here, so I always love these videos. Went to a show a few years back at Sons of Hermann and was geeking out the whole time because of the RoboCop history. Also, another fun fact: IM Pei was the one that designed Dallas City Hall. He also designed the rock and roll hall of fame building!
Very cool! Thanks for stopping by our channel and sharing your memories Josh! That's amazing that you got to meet Peter Weller, wow!! And we still haven't gotten a chance to step inside Sons of Hermann hall or The Bomb Factory (which I think is trying to change their name to The Factory?!) Anyway, those places are on our list to try and see shows if the opportunity avails itself whenever we're in town. I'm a Dallas native as well, but we've been living in Wichita, Kansas for nearly 20 years, so we only get to visit the DFW area occasionally. Have a great weekend :)
This has always been my favourite film. I was obsessed with it, growing up. This is the most comprehensive location video I've seen on this film so thank you for taking the time to make it!
0:21 That's my favorite city hall in the whole world, I just love the design of it!!! Robocop is a awesome 80's film. You guys did a great job filming the locations!!
That's such a thoughtful comment, thank you!! We're glad you like this video. It's one of our favorites too! Stay tuned because we're planning trips to visit the filming locations for RoboCop 2 & 3!
Robocop, a history ever made in the year 1987. thanks for sharing this all! its really a pleasure to see the places where Robocop/Alex murphy roamed once.......
You guys rock! I watch a lot of movie location videos and have never seen one on Robocop much less with all the details! Such a classic movie from my childhood. To see the real locations blow my mind. Thank you for the time and effort both of you put in to this video!
Thanks Marco! Yes, we were pleasantly surprised at how many locations they used in Dallas. I think the steel mill is the only location they used that's not there.
marco -- yes i read that detroit had the run down locations that they needed to show in the movie but not the futuristic looking skyscrapers and other buildings so they chose dallas which had both. thanks , the batman.
Very good video, it transported me to that wonderful stage of my children when I saw the movie for the first time, it is incredible to see the real locations and how they transform into Robocop's Detroit.Greetings and thanks for the tip. Also friend they have told you that you look like Dolph Lundgren.
Although far away in China, I still watched this movie when I was 10 years old, which laid the foundation for my evaluation of all future movies. This is a sad movie about death and rebirth and self-recovery.
Hahahaha I work right next to the studios! I was even trying to see if I could find my car in the parking lot 😆😆 Great video! Robocop is one of my childhood faves and can't belive I'm working next to where it was filmed inside the studios
That's awesome! Las Colinas is a neat area, lucky you! There have been plenty of other things filmed in those studios too! I've only been inside once... I was an extra on the Barney Christmas movie, lol! It was fun!
This was so thorough thank you! I love Robocop and knew already several parts, ocp facade, etc were in filmed in Dallas. But until now I had no idea that SO much of it was there and not even a film set/sound stage, just houses, business, etc. That's so cool, Thank you for making this!
RoboCop is an awesome movie, but they did make a few filming mistakes during its production. Here's a link to our video of the funniest mistakes in Robocop: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_VYI2w34oXw.html
Ha! Watching the movie on television right now. One of my favorites growing up in the 80s. Decided to check for filming locations, and there you were. You two did a great job covering the locations, and I was surprised at how much you were able to show. Thank you for a great video!
Loved watching this. I'm from the UK and this was always my favourite film. Quite often used to play it over and over again before grabbing my bike to go to secondary school in the morning. Always wanted to see the locations but just a little too expensive for me to travel to Dallas. Keep smiling you two, absolutely beautiful.
Wow great video, I live in the Dallas area and have been to a few of these locations. I love Robocop and will have to go explore some of these locations again. Thanks for the great video!!!
Cool, thanks! I'm originally from Dallas (but now we live in Kansas) so when we were watching RoboCop I was like... I totally recognize some of those places! That gave us the idea to make this video on a trip there. Glad you enjoyed it!
Robocop is in my top ten of greatest movies I've watched of all time!.. It's great to see some of the buildings and locations that were used in the making of the film!.. Even moreso seeing you two looking so stoked at finding them and showing how passionate you are about the film!!.. Love it!! 😁 👍
Hi guys, I'm Brazilian and I admire your work. Here in Brazil Robocop was very successful and is still on TV today. We Brazilians are passionate fans of American films.🇧🇷😍
This is awesome. Also something I normally expect from longtime hardcore fans of a film, not from people who literally just watched it for the first time. You must have really enjoyed it a lot to go to the trouble of doing the research and setting up this tour. :) Really cool. I enjoyed that. :D
Thank you so much!! We had planned a trip to Dallas and thought we might as well check out these places. In the process, we have become big fans of RoboCop!! We had to watch the movie a few more times to do the research, and it turns out to be one of those movies that gets better the more times you watch it. Glad you enjoyed our video! :)
@@Our80sLife It really is! I must have seen it about 100 times at least since I was a kid (yeah, 80s kids watched violent films :D ) and it's so enjoyable everytime. My ONLY complaint is with ONE special effect. Not the ED-209 (I love quality stop motion work) but it's the weirdly long arms of Dick Jones when he plummets at the end. That's the ONE bit I wish they'd have fixed up in the various versions they've released over the years. But eh whatever. Rest of the effects hold up well and as you mention in your reaction video to it, the make up of RoboCop when he takes the helmet off is excellent. You can see his skin stretched over the metal. Despite what some people think, it's supposed to be that his facial skin is overlaid onto a robotic skull... shooting him in the face won't kill him. And it was done by OCP to try help him adjust, cos if you woke up, looked in the mirror and saw a robot skull looking back you'd probably have a nervous breakdown or heart attack. There's a beautiful lil scene in RoboCop 2 where he does come face to face with his wife and she remarks that the face feels cold. Peter Weller plays the part of Murphy/RoboCop so well. :) Anyways I'll stop being a nerd now. Hope your weekend been awesome. Stay safe and well. :)
I love watching filming locations videos, and I love to see your enthusiasm. The original Robocop is one of my most important movies. Thanks! Btw nice background music.
Thank you so much! If you enjoy movie and TV filming locations, here's our complete playlist of those videos. Enjoy! ru-vid.com/group/PLWh-RJ-D1iWVqrToGD9b0OuwbY3QGOXQD
Very impressive all around but matching up the pictures and dissolving them into the current location scene was amazing. Made my night as I was watching the movie. Now if i could just find me one of those 8.5 MPG 6000 SUX!
That's so nice, thank you!! We're really glad you enjoyed our video! It was tedious but fun finding all the places and matching up the pictures. Thanks for watching!
Awesome. I had some relatives that were "extras" in the movie. I always wanted to see the Starck club...its everything i imagined it was in the pictures. Thanks for an awesome video.
Cool! That must have been a really neat experience being extras! The only time I've ever done that was in the Barney Christmas movie, LOL! RoboCop is WAY cooler! Thanks for watching!!
@@jC-kc4si Yes, Barney was taped at the same studios. They didn't have a tour back then, but I spent the day on-set as an extra. It was a great experience!
Gives me chills, I feel like they’re going back to my old house... They should have 1 or 2 actors from the movie when they do these kind of videos. That could give more info on what was going on back then.
Greetings from Scotland. What a seriously cool channel you guys have.Loved seeing all the robocop locations i really need to watch it again :) Have subbed as i seen you have loads of other videos i plan on checking out.
I've seen Robo maybe 100 times over the years, it's such a fun satirical action film, and I really appreciate this video. Great presentation very well done. Thank you!
Awesome video,i'm a big fan of the Robocop's movies when i was a child. You also forgot to include the old and iconic steel mill that was located in Pittsburgh if I'm not mistaken was burned to the ground in the late 80's if I'm not mistaken,a location in the film that has always fascinated me since I was a child.Correct me if I'm wrong
Thanks Alex! We only included the Dallas locations in this video having never visited the Pittsburgh area. But according to some of our viewers, it was called Duquesne Steel Works and was located in Duquesne, just outside Pittsburgh. We've been told it was closed in 1984, and I believe it sat derelict for many years before eventually being torn down. Anyway, sorry we don't have much information about the steel mill. Glad you enjoyed our video!
This is some solid and great work here, and very insightful as well. The level of details is terrific. I used to watch Rococop so many times, it was a movie way ahead its time. I'm eager to watch the Robocop 2 video !
Thank you for making this. I just came across it. I just recently moved to Northern Texas and was stoked to see all the locations of one of my favorite childhood movies. I had actually made a video from church Road of the condos and was going to do more locations but you guys did a much better job than I could’ve done.
thanks so much for making this video ! so interesting and robocop (1987) is one of my favourite movies ! and the JFK part is incredible ! . the dark knight.
Amazing! Both of you detailing all these scenes out, a trained eye is everything even when a piece of the movie is now gone! Also, can you share who's song that is at the beginning of your video after it shows "loading" Awesome work!
I worked as security at Dallas high school which is now an office for architects. I never knew Robocop was filmed there. And I used to go to the McDonald’s almost everyday at the plaza of America. Thx for the upload
It's a great movie, but we were shocked at how gory it was in some parts, so beware of that before you show it to her. We had fun finding the filming locations!
Fun video y'all! I had no idea that any of those movies were filmed in Dallas! Tim has seen all of the Robocop movies I think, but they are not really my cup of tea, so I'm not familiar with them. You guys found a lot of locations and it looks like you guys had fun! Take care and have a wonderful and blessed day ---Stacy 😍💚
Thanks Stacy! We are behind, having only seen the first Robocop. Definitely planning to watch the sequels in the near future. I can see why you'd say that though... the movie was super gory! It did have a sweet/sad story once you get past all the violence, lol! We had a blast tracking down all the filming locations in my hometown, what fun!
AKA our 80s life--- your welcome for the comments! your a wonderful couple, just wanted to share a fun film fact with you both, when the director of robocop paul verhoeven was offered the script he read a couple of pages and said " i dont want to make a scifi movie" and put it straight in the waste paper bin, his wife retrieved it shortly after and read the whole script and said to him that he should read the whole thing as this movie has many layers to it! so if it was not for his wifes intervention we would not have got the robocop movie that we all love so much!, also peter weller was interested in this movie not because it was a scifi/action movie but because he saw it as a tragedy with the murphy character, a man torn away from his family, a story from the heart. anyway have a nice day and stay safe. the batman will watch over you. :))
I remember them filming here in Dallas. I did not know all these locations. The club they used was also the well known Starck. It was the Studio 54 of Texas. Even Grace Jones appeared the just like the NYC club. It closed down about the same reason as the famous club. Those were the days.
Thanks for stopping by our channel and sharing your memories Sam! We went to the location of the former Starck Club, and it was undergoing major construction. Any idea what it will become?
i love RoboCop 2 almost as much as the first one and it's got some great scenes and Weller is great again. RoboCop 3? Eh... doesn't even have Weller and it's all been toned down to be 'kid-friendly' (though I had the first two on VHS when I was a kid) so what's the point? :P
You’re correct! Renaissance Tower was used as Ewing Oil beginning in season 2. Here’s our video of Dallas filming locations for season 2, if you’re interested in watching: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--6FpS0n83tA.html
Thanks for the tour. I found your video after noticing once again how they drive away from and towards Reunion Tower. I wanted to see anyone else acknowledged that.
