This scene really worked. My one regret is that it wasn't Peter Weller under the mask because that would've made everything come full circle. Still, because he is a cybernetic organism, and his human parts still age, the older look works as well. You feel both Murphy's pain and the pain of his son as they try to see and understand each other's points of view on this issue. Alex's question was the most obvious, as was Jimmy's answer. Regardless of whether that could've been tried, OCP would never have allowed the kind of relationship Jimmy needed with his father. And, in turn, they would never have allowed Alex that much freedom. But the scene works in the sense that both father and son found each other and found the missing parts of their souls again. And maybe they're looking into his father's eyes James realized that what happened to him was not by choice and an example of the satanic corporation he was defending. They prolonged his father's suffering in a way when they should've let him die to push forth a product and make a profit.
