Roborock S7 Review: www.bestcordle...
The new mopping module in the S7 solves one issue plaguing older robot vacuum/mop combos - their inability to clean dried stains without leaving streaks.
Older variants with gravity tanks will take more than one run to remove the stains, but still, leave streaks. Newer options, like the S5 Max, do a better job and do a better job at cleaning stains, and leave minimal streaks. However, these will struggle with larger stains, and still require more runs for such.
The S7 has a vibrating mopping pad that helps in this area. And I tested it extensively on various stains. The results were very encouraging and definitely a step in the right direction.

There are rumours going around that the self-empty dock will be released in Q2 of this year. There are 2 separate renders that we've seen which indicate Roborock is going for a bagless system & giving people a choice between a black or white self-empty dock

Hello 👋, been watching your channel for awhile and love your detailed videos and straightforward reviews. Kind of reminds me of vacuum wars channel 😮. Anyways how are you liking the S7? Any issues you have noticed? So what I have seen so far it missing the Sequence feature found on the other Roborock models and ability to use the carpet sensor for no go zones. Apparently the overseas version get this feature but not here in the US. Not sure what the reason is? Keep up the good work!!!!
@CordlessVacuumGuide
@CordlessVacuumGuide 3 года назад
I'm currently re-doing the mopping tests for the S5 Max, S6 MaxV, and S7. I did notice the S5 Max wheels slipping if I use a high mop setting. Not the case with the S7 so far even if I start with a damp pad. As far as issues, I didn't notice anything significant. You're right about the lack of sequence and not avoiding carpets. One more thing, there will be stain build up on the brush roll assembly if you use it on heavy stains. Thank you for the kind words, and likewise, keep up the good work in your channel.

the vibration feature is the best and the most distinctive thing about this robot but when it lifts its mop when on carpet, it seems like the mop still touches the fibres of the carpet. so as you say, it is better not to count on its small lift.

There are several features I like with the new S7 - for one the brush roll is easier to clean and should last longer since it doesn't have any bristles. The pad is thicker with more surface area, unlike the S5 Max where it's a narrow space.

Hi I have bought Roborock S7 +. But after two weeks of use, I sent it back because I thought the mopping was lousy. I understand that you have to wet the mop before starting the robot vacuum cleaner. but after half the house, the mop has been wiped off and the robot vacuum cleaner mops a maximum of 7 to 10 cm wide on the floor. the difference between s6v max and s7, is that the water drainage on the s6v max in two places on the mop on each side. which means that the entire width of the mop is constantly wet. while s7 has a single drain in the middle which is not enough to bleed the whole mop, resulting in it mops max 7 to 10 cm max. I would need your opinion on this .. or if I'm doing something wrong

The fact that roborock didn't release the auto-emptying dock the same time with the S7 was the main factor that made me to move away from them at least for now. I have a Roborock S5 that works great for more than 2 years now but I really wanted the auto dock. In my opinion it was a mistake not introducing the Y pattern also to this robot. Yes it consumes more water but combined with the vibrating mop would have been unbeatable. You can always turn it off if you want. The Roidmi also has that Y pattern. I know it isn't recommended to add cleaning solutions to the water tank but i do it anyway. I spoke with some Roborock S5 Max owners and other brands and in almost 2 years they did not have any problems with it. Even to the S5 i added directly and made large holes in those 2 silly water filters. Who cleans the floors with filtered water? Yes the Roidmi, The S5Max, S6, S7, have an electric pump inside but cleaning the floors with just water is simply pointless in my opinion. Expecially that the mop pad gets dirty quickly and the robot just drags germs from the door to the middle of the house and so on. Yes the floors look nicer/cleaner but all you do is spread evenly the bacterias and viruses through out the entire house. So if it breaks ( I don't think so) I will buy a new one or simply stop using the robot as a mop if i can't find the water tank.
@CordlessVacuumGuide
@CordlessVacuumGuide 3 года назад
Interesting points Muth. The Y-pattern plus vibrating mop would have been an interesting comba. I'm also curious why Roborock didn't put in the Y-pattern as it would be an easy update. Given how good the Roborock app is.
@dennis9038
@dennis9038 3 года назад
You don't need the Y pattern at all, just let it run twice, then you still save time.
@CountPorcula
@CountPorcula 3 года назад
@@dennis9038 nope, not the same the Y pattern goes a few cm forward, a few back then again in almost the same place. Practically is a little scrubbing. + by this logic you can always say you can let it run twice or there times with the Y pattern. 🙂
@RobotMasters
@RobotMasters 3 года назад
Yeah hopefully Roborock can incorporate a Y mopping pattern. I will reach out to them and ask if they can include that in a future software update. Also maybe having the robot pre wet the mopping pad too would be a nice feature prior to mopping that area. I know the Shark Ai does, spins 360 degrees to get the mopping pad wet.
@dennis9038
@dennis9038 3 года назад
@@CountPorcula I know the technology, many manufacturers have had that for a long time. But I have a real robot mop, so I don't need it. The S7 has no chance against the Legee 7 when it comes to cleaning stains.

Thank you for a great review. I'm thinking of buying the S7 when it's available (in Australia), but on the specs it says it's suitable for carpets up to 4mm thick. I'm wondering if it will still work on thicker carpet? My carpet is 8mm to 9mm thick pile or 3/8" pile. It's a plush type carpet. I would greatly appreciate your opinion on this. FYI I've never owned a robot vacuum before. Thank you in advance.
@CordlessVacuumGuide

Roborock isn't designed for plush carpet. I've read reports about the brush roll stalling on thick carpet. I haven't tested it personally at such, but I'm currently looking for a plush carpet for testing purposes.

Great review. Unfortunate that Roborock didn't realise an auto empty system with it. Probably waiting till S7 MaxV to do that (?). Also, impressive mopping capabilities! I think Y path it's basically useless with this VibraRise technology. Do you think Roborock should've upgraded the vacuum capabilities since it scored the lowest CFM in your test? Also, in your opinion, how well VibraRise does compared to OZMO Pro? Thank you
@CordlessVacuumGuide

The Auto Empty system I believe is still under development. Roborock told me it will be sold as an add-on. No word yet if they will sell it as a package.

The auto empty dock will be available as an add on. Someone commented 2nd quarter this year as a release date. Suction is similar to the s6 maxv according to Roborock. The lower airflow could be the denser brush since it covers most od the opening. Haven't tries the OZMO pro yet.
