Hehe thank you!! I already see so much id like to improve on, sometimes it’s hard to work quickly and not disturb her living situation too. Building the perfect hamster habitat is an art 🖼 , I think it takes a long time to get just right! But at least I feel like I’m getting a bit better with practice :)

If u switch her bottom cage and those bins to the right the tubes won’t be so straight up and down it might be easier to make a less steep incline with the tubes
Thank you, that’s a nice idea! A lot has changed in the last few months- Sofia is now blind in one eye 👁 so I decided to keep her in just one 200 qt bin for a while. I wanted to get her in a Christmas Tree bin but the stores near me ran out 😭. So! I might try to get her a Niteangel enclosure or a tank, still looking into a good option for her as she gets older. ❤️ thanks again for your suggestions!
@@RachelGotHamsters I have a 75 gallon for each of my hamsters they make great enclosures but I still feel they arnt wide enough I would love to try a niteangel
@@lexy10985 is the large Niteangel larger than the 75 gallon tank? I have one dwarf ham in a 75 gallon, I LOVE it, it’s so tall an beautiful, but SO heavy and difficult to maneuver!
@@RachelGotHamsters I believe it’s around the same size I think it’s 1” wider and 1” shorter in length I believe it’s 47”x19” and the 75 gallon is 48”x18”
I love that platform! I was debating getting it myself but decided to make my own instead. Sofia is such a cute little bean. 🥰🥰 Also may I ask why the last 11 minutes or so are just a black screen? I'm just wondering whether something went wrong... idk :)
Hahaha I published this video as I went out the door and apparently had music going for an extra 15 minutes! I did edit it but it takes time to update on RU-vid, so hopefully it goes away soon 😂 Well done on making your own! How tall is it? I’d like to give Sofia more burrowing space but right now she has the shorter stilts on her multi-chamber hide, I’ve been waiting for the taller ones to come back in stock.
@@RachelGotHamsters oh lol! I made my platform 9 inches tall, but I'll probably make another with, hopefully, 12 inch legs (maybe taller?) to add in the deeper bedding section. I just gotta buy some more bedding to actually create a deep bedding section lol. After I purchase another dowel rod or so for the other platforms' legs, and finish some extra items for the cage, I'll be set to get a new hamster! I used leftover plywood (made from safe wood with natural glues 😄) I had from building my diy cage to make some platforms and I'm making 4 (maybe more) in total. I want different shapes and sizes to choose from 😅. I'll probably talk abt the platforms in a video when I do get around to that. I've been so busy I don't have much time to film, edit, and upload a video. When I do end up getting a new hamster I'll probably have more motivation cuz I'll want to film all the cute things they do lol. It's sorta hard to film my sister's hamster, Olive, cuz she hides away a lot and likes being left to herself more than interaction. Oof this was long but I guess I'm excited to get my own hamster haha, and the platform reminded me of that... somehow 🤣. I've been so long without one I miss owning a hamster so much.
@@Allthingshamster aww I love how much prep work you're doing! I"m sure it can be hard to stay motivated without a hamster of your own right now, but that is really great you can perfect things before you get one. My struggle is I have such limited time to do updates to my hamster's cages, since I have to put them in a playpen and they don't want me to change much... I wish Sofia has so much more digging room, hopefully I can get some new, taller stilts and upgrade her in one swoop, maybe she won't even notice! What kind of hamster do you think you'll get? It's funny I think my robo hamsters actually do more burrowing than my dwarves... but maybe it's just my dwarfs : )
@@RachelGotHamsters I hope you can get those new stilts soon! If Sofia does get stressed from the change it will be worth it so she has taller bedding in the long term. Maybe you could fill up her bottom bin full of bedding to give her extra burrowing room. 😀 I really want to get a syrian hamster, I've never owned one and I like how much bigger they are.
I wish my robo could have as setup like that ues ina 200 and something Sq inch bin cage but I'm on vacation rn so whem I get home ik getting a bigger bin and attaching it so he'll have alot of room
I am a little worried about the plastic tubing going down, if it is a straight drop she could get easily hurt, and how does she get back up? It just looks like it has a few too many cons and not many pros about it. Thanks
Hmm well I think the pro would be allowing her to have more space, and the con would be your concern about her being able to climb through them? I def understand your concern, it’s why I put a lot of time into making sure she can use it and designing it so it’s never too much of a drop off. That being said, I’m going to upgrade her to a Christmas tree bin now that they are available- this is a much more effective way to provide her with a lot of floor space.
@@sophienioche4949 of course, thanks for your concern! I really do debate this stuff a lot- Sofia is so active and I can tell she’s much happier when she gets time outside her enclosure. I was actually planning to upgrade all my bebes to large Niteangel enclosures (outside of Shirley who is already in a 75 gallon tank), but Laverne’s ongoing health care has made me a bit broke lately! Thankfully Xmas tree bins 🎄 are so cheap!

i've never tried freezing any food or bedding ....does it not affect the quality of the food or make it soft at all ?, and similarly with the bedding , putting that in the freezer too .
Hi Rosemarie! 🌹 👋 hmm, I’ve never noticed a change- I freeze the seed mix and lab blocks, they seem to be unchanged when I remove them. When I was about 10 and my family had gerbils we got bugs from the lab blocks, they spread to everything in the kitchen and it was terrible!! They got through plastic somehow and were in everything. This scarred me for life so that’s why I freeze the food, and basically everything unless it’s plastic. I heard Erin’s animals say she does this too I believe?
@@rosemarieurwin2578 I wish! No, my freezer is too small. I put the bedding in large, ziplock bags and then put in my freezer. Haha it’s quite the process. You’ve never had any issues and you don’t freeze? It’s possible things are less regulated for pets here in the US, I do feel like European animal laws are stricter so your products might be more high quality.
@@RachelGotHamsters i have never had any problems with insects and have never freezed either food or bedding at all , but if i ever encounter an insect problem i know what to do .
