I'm not sure that's applicable here. These are specific loadouts for general targets, it's not really like they're stockpiling random "le epic guns" n stuff just because it looks cool. These are all meant to assist in the mission at hand, and thus will change accordingly depending on said mission. Unless they can efficiently store any extra weapons to carry just in case, cuz, y'know, this is war. You need weapons. It's not at all the liefeld effect when you're talking mechs. Everything is meant to hold a purpose with mech design.

These movies would make a great premise for a post apocalyptic world where humans built these machines to fight and end up eradicating humanity but the machines still fight eachother to win not knowing the war was over years ago.

They do. These are cut scenes. It depends which path you take. It may be multiple playthroughs before you see them all.

Why were these ACs sent with substandard gear? By the time my AC fought these things, I had a laser lance and two laser cannons on my back. My generator and boosters could keep my AC flying for minutes at a time.
