I love how adorable a bot like “Mammoth” can try it’s best to run away with it’s little leggies while a terminator doomsday bot is chasing it down easily.

It's the presentation, the over-the-top style and industrial, grim atmosphere it's much cooler and more fun. The reboot series felt way too bright and clean and took itself too seriously, it was too happy and shiny.
this is one reason the rules system bugged me on this show, an attack started by a house robot when not in the corner ends up with a robot immobile and it counts as a win.
The difference between Battle bots and Robo wars: *Robo bot fights are weak, But the hazards will frick you* *Battle bot fights are better, but the hazards are trash* Bonus: *Robo wars has a better looking arena*
Robo Wars is just a little better produced as well. The commentary is better. I haven't seen any of this win by judge points shit. Battle bots..went week af on the nonexistent hazards .
I wonder if the house robots got upgraded over the years? I always loved Dead Metal, but the saw blade seems more theatrical than menacing with the way the weaponry has improved. How about replacing it with a vertical flywheel or drum? Higher weight and impact force, particularly with the grabbing claws to hold onto a bot while tearing it apart....
Many of the house robots weapons were meant to be flashy, but not do *that* much damage. Dead metal putting an angle grinder to a trapped bot looks cool, causes a fountain of sparks, but won’t actually disable a bot, as it’s meant to be the opponent winning the fight, not the house robots. Same with sergeants flame thrower, or Matilda’s chainsaw - they did superficial damage for the most part and keep things interesting without destroying bots. They saved the real devastating stuff, like the kill-a-lot hammer, for when a bot was already dead.
@@maddermax22 Matilda originally had a regular tree cutting saw on her back, but, in one season, Razer destroyed her and the house robots turned on her. It was pretty funny, but I'm pretty sure the next time she came out they had changed it to a vertical spinner on her back to keep people from getting to her insides.
Also, Sir Killalot has a long, spinning drill with claws as one of his weapons and that thing can tear through some of the bots' armor without much effort.
15. KAN-OPENER vs THERMIDOR II vs MAJOR TOM Oof, Nick's calling it "Thermidor 2 vs Kan-Opener vs Major Tom", Thermidor wasn't the winner of the Annihilator, yes this is my naming scheme in Annihilator fights. This is a worthy opener for the list, a good bit of destruction even if it's a very lengthy bout in this context! Major Tom's disc keeps going for a surprisingly long time... 14. 259 vs TYPHOON TWINS vs DOOM TOO vs MAMMOTH Ah, so we DO have a lower weight class fight on the list after all! Well I'm happy about it, this is a great little bout worthy of attention, I just hope it doesn't come at the expense of Pressure vs Piranha. Fun trivia from Nick, this fight being on the list made my QUEEN Keri Scott the default thumbnail for this video. Can't believe he didn't use it, who wouldn't want Keri in the thumbnail? Also smh 259M is not the robot's name, and I also just noticed Doom Too is four-wheel drive 13. FIRESTORM IV vs DANTOMKIA So it does qualify for the list then, I better be ready for plenty more Firestorm to come! I had my suspicions, NJGW has hardly been the biggest fan of this fight out there, but fan reception justifies its spot. 12. FIRESTORM IV vs BIGGER BROTHER Yep, wondered if they'd be back-to-back. A nice chance for everyone to come to their own conclusions on which fight was truly better. Feels more at home than this fight being in the top half of the Ultimate Countdown while the Dantomkia fight was absent. Jonathan calls Firestorm's flipper a hydraulic weapon, oh dear. 11. BIGGER BROTHER vs TORNADO I was just typing a little comment about how Bigger Brother's appearance in the last fight potentially meant this particular battle would be missing. Glad it qualified, it's not the best fight in the world but a very significant outcome and a great pitting. Nick's reason for not putting it on the Ultimate Countdown, as I recall, was that "the same outcome would happen if they fought again" >:( 10. 13BLACK vs RAZER vs CHAOS 2 Four All-Stars fights in a row, we'd only just finished with Heat A! I honestly didn't think this was going to be here, guess that's it for the likes of Infinity vs Infernal Contraption and Pressure vs Piranha. The positive here is that Razer gets a single fight on the list - its Extreme 2 campaign wasn't great. Granted, Razer was the least significant member of this battle, but it's here!! Terrible job from the floor flipper mate 9. BLACK HOLE vs ZEUS It's here! It seemed a magnificent opener to the list, instead it exceeds strong competition on its path to ninth. Surprising stuff, but I imagine Black Hole's other bout is still far away. 8. TERRORHURTZ vs S.M.I.D.S.Y. Here it is, Nick's favourite robot in what I would suggest is its best victory. Of course, you all saw the thumbnail, so clearly he disagrees, but with the Challenge Belt being the first proper episode of Robot Wars I saw (I started with the New Blood), I always valued this more than any other fight in the already excellent Challenge Belt. I need to screenshot 26:55 for the wiki. 7. DANTOMKIA vs S.M.I.D.S.Y. vs SIR CHROMALOT vs HYPNO-DISC But before the Terrorhurtz melee I alluded to, here's the other Challenge Belt melee. Really great fun this, and I'll add a footnote that this battle was missing from my recording of the Challenge Belt, so it couldn't take on THz vs SMIDSY for the best fight of the episode in my views as an embryonic Robot Wars fan. 6. FIRESTORM IV vs PANIC ATTACK OK, an interlude, this caught me off-guard. It is what it is, a decent fight and then a major, major moment. When's the Fifth Place Playoff from the German Wars then? 5. FIRESTORM IV vs CORKSCREW vs BONDI-TITCH vs WELD-DOR 3 It feels almost unfair how much Firestorm there is in this list, but I can't deny any of it. Extreme 2 was quite simply Firestorm's best series from an entertainment perspective, consistently entertaining. Unless it's fighting Crushtacean. This one in particular, while I wouldn't put it anywhere near fifth place, is a good laugh. 4. TERRORHURTZ vs IRON-AWE 2 vs BARBER-OUS II vs VADER Here it is! "I think this is the stronger melee of the two", JP says, as though Dantomkia and Hypno-Disc together isn't completely busted. And wahey, you're including Judges' decision announcements when needed! 3. PHILIPPER II vs BLACK HOLE The list definitely jumps up a tier now, the Top 3 far exceed the fights before it. This is a very important battle, and one that I hold dearly. Best fight of the German Series, right? I'd gladly sacrifice Black Hole vs Tornado to give us this fight, any day. Black Hole didn't have a chance against Tornado anyway. 2. KAN-OPENER vs THERMIDOR II And there we have confirmation, the highest Extreme 2 fight from the Ultimate Countdown has given its place away, and that to me is absolutely the right call. Still love this bout for all it is, who ever would've expected these two to produce a classic? 1. 13BLACK vs DOMINATOR II Absolutely the best outcome. One of my favourite fights ever, in any robot combat competition. Along with the Series 6 losers melee, this fight made 13BLACK (cheers for spelling it this way lol) one of my favourite robots ever built. I could watch this all day. Good stuff Nick, all I can openly disagree with is Firestorm IV and Corkscrew's melee doing far too well, and I'd be willing to sacrifice Major Tom's demolition for a more competitive fight, but otherwise good stuff. So what missed out? -Chompalot vs Pussycat? -Storm II vs Mute -Typhoon Thunder vs Ellie's Little Pink-Bot (it can't be just me) -Pressure vs Piranha :((( -Infinity vs Infernal Contraption :((((((( -ICU vs CHOPPER VS MAD DOG >:(((((((((((((((((((((((
7:28, my God i miss that laugh Big brother vs tornado is one of the best matches ever. Flipping and clamping tornado was genius 36:24: my all time favorite arena moment between my all time favorite bots
There were few bad fights, very little can beat the tight finals where it’s a judges decision on the finest margins, Razer losing is one of them. Those were the best
If they do this series again, they should completely get rid of the house robots, the pit, etc. I want to see which robot wins, not which robot has the worst luck. Imagine the UFC, but every time they get too close to the cage, Dana White starts hitting one of the fighters with a claw hammer. It's so stupid.
The thing I dislike the most about Robot Wars is the house robots and how they destroy the losing bot, making it impossible to repair and bring back for another fight. Sure it's entertaining, but some contestants can't afford to start from scratch.
Watching this again tonight... I have to say I disliked the Drop Zone a lot as it just makes the show into childish "destruction porn" rather than it being about actual robot combat Even the house robots can sometimes make the whole show look way more childish than it actually is due to their anthropomorphism I am glad the reboot "grew up" and lost some of the more cringey elements of the original series But what really matters is the combat, and this video has several great battles. Well done Nick
I love robot war so much that I think my mind will explode and I love it more and all my other videos I think I love robot wars London early video in my whole life time so I think one day I will build a robot so I can put it in robot would know this
All Stars, Annihilator, Challenge Belt and Commonwealth had the best fights of Extreme 2. The two I would've added are Mute vs Roobarb and Infernal Contraption vs Infinity.
What makes Firestorm so good, is the driver. I see so many people who have no control over their bots, firestorm build itself is nothing special. it's quite slow and weapon is not very effective, but he has won a lot because of his driving skills. So make a note n00b drivers. Don't go into any kind of bot wars if you don't know how to control your bot. Even a good bot can lose easily if you have no control over it. Same goes for Razer, Chaos 2, Hypno-Disk, Carbide ..etc, they are good drivers with good bots and that's why they win a lot. I've seen some other good builds, but totally bad drivers. I think wheely big cheese was one of them, he had insane flipper, but rubbish driving skills and wheels were too exposed, it could have easily won the championship if he just had smaller wheels with some armor around them and better driver. I think wheely big cheese is the most powerful flipper i have ever seen in any kind of bot battle. Also thermidor 2 has good potential, but I very poor driver and also can they not see how BAD design it is? as soon as they accelerate, the front goes up and they can't wedge the opponent ... it's like it was designed by some half-wit who can't see the issue. All they need is to add extra set of small wheels at back (like on dragsters) or move the main wheels further back so it won't lift up.
Firestorm is a mediocre bot, its flipper is slow if strong, but with its driver it's flipped two house bots in one match, which makes it more of a fucking legend.
Totally ridiculous having the house robots attacking contestants. Maybe clear up the arena but I fast forward each time those dumb house robots go into action.
you're talking rubbish lol. i didn't see any new season fail and washing machine is cool to have, however I would have filled it with dishes or some other clutter
I'd love to enter the competition, but not when there are house-robots that do unnecessary un-called for damage that put you financially out of the game.
It'd be risky. If it backfires and you get disabled by a house bot but your apponnent isn't, you lose. But I think you are allowed to fight back against the house bots.
I could not do robot wars. Once counted out that should be it. The time and money to rebuild is one thing, but if after the match has been counted out, and house bots destroy my not after I already was counted out, there's nothing left to rebuild.
so I just realised, why was Chromalot allowed to enter the Challenge Belt melee with camo netting an chains on? surely the camo net at least counts as illegal entanglement device.
@@Phantomsbreath they were at the time this was filmed, and continue to be in most events worldwide. Only in the final series of Robot Wars before it was cancelled was it legal
I think I would be quite upset had I spent long, long hours and lots and lots of money to build a robot, just to lose and have the house robots just destroy it for the hell of it. I hope they knew this was gonna happen cause I'd be cursing up a storm, if not.
I dont like how the fight isa over, yet the judge bots trash your hard work for "fun" I think they should pay for "fun" too bad the rules say competitors from LOCALS only... so they're competing with themselves fun, but battlebots takes in Competition from anywhere, thats why its more popular
is it me or are the house bots just plain bull... i mean if you drive the wrong way to lets say get an angle and you drive into them and they catch you you could be done for and your opponent wouldn't even have fought you... just saying if they ram you into stationary objects fine but these things drive up to you to demolish your bot and they aren't build according to the other bots rulesets
well now you lot have Death Roll, a beautiful crocodile themed robot that made it to the top 4 in Battlebots last year, including a win against possibly one of the most successful all round teams on the planet who have spent over a decae refining their design.
I love this stuff ! But !!!!! I'm watching it with the sound turned down from now on, the commentators are too far fetched & what is it with that bloke wearing motor bike racing leathers ? ! What's that got to do with it ? Does he want to ride one of the robots ?
@@rogerrussian9750 oh well he’s a legend in the uk as he has been in the sitcom red dwarf, other programs and is currently a presenter on the long running series the gadget show also the jacket he wearing has got the robot wars logo on it
