This video explains displacement vectors, which express the distance between the centers of two frames.
Robotics 1 is a college-level introductory robotics class covering kinematics, motion control, and sensors and machine vision.

Thats why I say teaching is a skill and not something you can automatically do due to having a doctorate degree. Thanks so much for the educational videos, I've literally learnt more from you than my professor.

i'm not sure I understand how you got a2cos(theta1) and a2sin(theta1) for d01 at 10:40. Could you explain that in a different way?

Thank you very much for the valuable explanation, I have a question at 9 mins what is the name of the phenomena that are used to find theta in a triangle with 90 degrees. I need to understand it well as basic .

Are you thinking about how she got to a2*cos(theta1) and a2*sin(theta1)?

Why do we rotate the second frame by 45 degrees (top view diagram) while calculating the displacement vector?

Hi i am watching your videos and i find them so helpful :) i have a question why d0_2 != d0_1+d1_2?
@asodemann3
@asodemann3 7 лет назад
That's a great question! You can't get d0_2 by just adding d0_1 and d1_2 because d0_1 is expressed in frame 0, and d1_2 is expressed in frame 1. Frame 1 can be rotated relative to frame 0. So, in order to add d0_1 and d1_2, you would first have to 'un-rotate' frame 1 so that it matches frame 0. That is what the Homogeneous Transformation Matrix does!

i was looking for an answer what is the different between Homogeneous and normal Transformation i think this is the answer thank you and i will keep follow your videos :)

is displacement vector the same as translation vector?
@asodemann3
@asodemann3 6 лет назад
I am not sure because I don't know what is meant by 'translation vector'. Is the 'translation vector' located in the 4th column, rows 1-3 of the homogeneous transformation matrix? If so, then yes, the displacement vector is the same as the translation vector.
