We made it to the semi final! However, nothing is guaranteed against the HULKs from Hamburg - a team with a long tradition and immense ability. The HULKs have dominated their matches so far - but there is no way we're going to let that impress us.

The RoboCup is the annual robotics world championship. Teams compete in different categories including several different kinds of football leagues. Our leage, the Standard Platform League, is the only one that uses identical roboters across teams, focusing exclusively on software.

i am sure this is really hard and i just read in the comment the number of complex tasks. And this was clear win. I think the speed with which the HTWK players always seemed to be first in a good position and the dribbling was a class of its own. But the amount of falling (especially twice just in front of the goal) surprised me somewhat. Is that really just a matter of the control algorithm or is this a hardware problem as well? (maybe I could not walk longer than 10 s without falling if I looked like this :-D )

Hi, thanks for your comment. The falling is do to several thinks. Mostly Hardware issues and the overheating of the motors.

Is the robot given? As everyone is using the same robot?

yes! In our league (the Standard Platform League), everybody uses the same robot model (the NAO), even though we do have to buy them ourselves. So our focus really is purely on the code, we also can't modify the NAOs in any way

Robocup rules are usually that all robots need to be fully autonomous during play.

that's right! we program the robots to solve all problems on their own (at least that's the idea, haha): vision, hearing whistle signals, walking, getting back up after a fall, kicking, communication, strategy - and more!
