One is awesome and can be hilarious while still being one of the most intimidating, scary villains ever made. The other is just a joke that unfortunately doesn't have much to show for himself other than lame jokes and overused storylines ("Oh no, this overly powerful beast betrayed me! Now what will I do?!?!").

I love the character development of him realizing that his minions were not the only ones to blame. "Where did I go wrong with you?" By the end of the solo: "Where did I go wrong with me?" Accepting you aren't perfect is never easy, and for Robotnik to overcome his ego is truly worthy of a promotion.

There are characters, in fact, if you pay attention, there's even a plot: Robotnik somehow obtains superpowers that allow him to do anything (with the possible exception of his egg-o-matic hovercraft). Instead of using these powers in a logical way (like killing Sonic or taking over Mobius), he uses them to rock out, and, in the process, he reflects on his poor decisions in life, confuses Sonic, and hands out several promotions.

I vaguely remember a small outpouring of positive words after his passing, everyone saying he was the most big-hearted teddy bear of a giant you'd ever meet. I'm sure if he were aware of it he'd have appreciated and encouraged this nonsense in his own way. Either way, it's kind of touching that it continues to be made this far into the future.

Simon Cotten technically sonic mania is sonic 4, but sonic 4 is still sonic 4. sonic 4 is canon and takes place after sonic 3k. however, it's not in the same timeline as sonic mania. the timeline starts with sonic 1-3k. then comes sonic 4. eventually, sonic generations happened. this altered time and made classic sonic's world become its own timeline. that never has sonic change into his modern form. this new timeline also has 1-3k but that leads into mania instead of 4. oh wait i mean "what do you mean there is no sonic 4 lol they skipped to 5 so mania is sonic 6"

the boss is a rock, but modified to have robotic abilities and a spray-painted Robotnik face on it. When introduced, Robotnik drops it from his Egg-O-Matic Hovercraft (NO (...maybe) ) and says "It's my rock!". The official name of Robotnik's rock would be Robotnik's Rock (I'm not creative, it was either this or Rocky). When defeated, Robotnik would look at the resulting pile of rubble and say "Where did I go wrong with you?" before moving all of the rubble into his Egg-O-Matic Hovercraft (see related joke above) through the use of a tractor beam, and returning to his evil lair. Also, this would be part of a brand-new, fan-made game where you play as Sonic on a mission to stop Robotnik from (insert 10 cliche villainy things) while meeting characters from the show along the way. There would be unique boss fights such as this, and maybe there would be a special ending for if you get all 5 of the Exotic Chili Dogs throughout the adventure. I can't code this, but if I could, I would have by now.

Is it wrong that I completely and entirely like this version of Robotnik, in this video, than the one in the actual show? I don't know, he seems so self aware of his failures, enough to admit that there is something wrong with himself instead of his creations, but he tries his best to reach his goals anyways, it's charming that he is so confident
