Hey Friends, I understand many of you took Christine's comments to mean that Robyn did not live polygamy with their family & I am not responding to those comments. I am specifically addressing the numerous comments I'm seeing of people saying that because Robyn didn't grow up in polygamy that she didn't understand it. I want to be clear that Christine blaming Robyn for not living polygamy is a complete and utter fabrication. There is and has never been healthy polygamy within the AUB. In nearly all of my conversations with dozens of former members of this church, there is always a favorite wife. older wives are almost always abandoned and neglected by the husbands. They stay in the group because their relationships are not based upon love but eternity. Polygamous relationships in the AUB are not and cannot be compared to monogamy in any capacity. They do not marry for love. They marry for heaven and exaltation. Women are commodity and used by the men as a oven for children and vehicle for sex and money. Christine is coming out a fog, and I believe in TIME she will see that the entire system was built for the family to fail. Families break up all the time in the AUB. Wives are left completely alone and isolated. The new wife is almost always the favorite, especially when the wives are younger. The point of this video is to show that the illusion the Brown's portrayed on the show is an illusion. There is no "ideal" polygamy that exists within an oppressive, patriarchal cult where women have no rights or autonomy. There is also no choice for many of these women because they have been groomed their entire lives to believe they must become plural wives or they will go to hell. We also cannot rationalize how we would handle this situation. The AUB tells members that the more they suffer, the more pain and abuse they experience that they will be given better blessings in heaven. Many in the culture, particularly women, have no understanding of what abuse is or what healthy relationships look like. They also have been told since birth that they are not equal citizens and have no other role in life but to be a wife and mother. The more they suffer, they are told that in heaven they will be rewarded. So this can be used for the women to stay in abusive relationships and the suffering is viewed as a badge of honor. Christine said to Kody on the very first episode, "I feel like you're trading your current family for Robyn and her kids." She was right from the start and her intuition was spot on.
And Janelle when her and Kody were talking about Robyn becoming the legal wife. Janelle said something like " and you two just ride off into the sunset". They lived it, they'd know
Christine is Preston's first cousin. She must have known something about the real Robyn. This show is a lie, there has been way too many hidden stuff going on from day one.

It had to be really confusing for them because they were never allowed to ask their dad how he felt about the whole mess, if he wanted them, what happens to their relationship with him, etc. It was just sprung on them.
Robin sure was a beautiful girl growing up and a beautiful woman. It’s a shame her life now has changed that so much. It all makes sense now. Wow! It makes more sense now with why Robin wants her kids to have it all and be acknowledged ( the way she wasn’t) just sad really.
When Christine says Robyn never lived polygamy, I always took that to mean she wasn't living polygamy in her relationship with the Browns. I always felt like Christine was saying Robyn monopolized Kody's time and he wasn't spending time with other wives, so Robyn was trying to live monogamy with Kody.
Robyn seems to have wanted monogamy with kody with the OG3 supporting them. It seems Kody didn't want to be be a parent to the original kids, but wants that with Robyn with the OG3 supporting them. He could have adopted Janelle and Christine's children and maintained that he wasn't married to their mothers. Robyn and Cody deserve each other. Meri, Janelle, and Christine deserve so much more than Kody ever gave the 3 of them or their children.

I've watched a lot of documentaries on the order and flds, but there's never much about aub out there. But in the things I've seen on the Kingston's, the hidden relationships sound like how you've described Robyns upbringing.

The show tried to pretend that plural marriage was just normal healthy relationships. It's obviously not. I'm not surprised by Robyn's behavior towards the other wives. The dysfunction that these women grew up seeing was just normal to them. Hopefully Christine, Meri and Janelle are able to have healthy relationships going forward
I was definitely fooled when the show first started. That polygamy was just some alternative way to live, but not necessarily bad because they were adults that chose to live that way. The kids seemed loved and happy. Though, I was much younger back then, so I didn’t see behind the facade.

True, I think he questioned Robyn regarding his biological father, that's probably why he lives in a trailer away from the other kids. Robyn probably knows that the kids will turn against her, now that they've become adults.
The driving Preston out of picture was A. Financial medical debt leading to a house being threatened lien foreclosure B. Serious injury Preston's son had that happened with zero health insurance and was never properly explained how a child rode an ATV into a barbed wire fence. So Kody and Robyn decided it was best to force Preston give up his parental rights, divorce Meri, marry Robyn and adopt her children with Preston to take over the debt so house wouldn't be lost to bank. It's very convoluted but it shows their scheming. Preston was then made irrelevant so he could not interfere with Kody raising Preston's children. As I understand it.
I truly feel bad that Sobyn had the upbringing she had. At some point, you have to get above your raising. Sobyn and Sobyn alone is responsible for her actions now. She has to take responsibility for what she's done to Preston, her children with Preston, the OG3 wives, and the original 13 kids. I hope that the karma she and The Kodster have coming arrives soon.

Mrs. Alice IS the main reason why we are unfortunately left with the Mrs. Sobyn Brown and her victimhood BS. I believe it was in season 17 (possibly 16) where Robyn states VERY CLEARLY that her mother calls her the Kody 'Brown family scapegoat'. It disgusted me when I watched & heard it the first time years ago and has always stayed in the back of my mind when Robyn is on her, "world-see-me-as-THE-victim" tour - which is always on tour-never ending. It made me wonder if that is too, how Alice views herself and how deeply its seeped into Sobyn's cold-victimless-heart.

I agree. Once the children became young adults he had no use for them. He needs to be the patriarch, but he isn't strong enough to do that role effectively. He appears to find any other male attention or criticism of his fathering or leadership or decisionmaking very threatening. He wanted, he got, even if it was always too much for him. Over time his insecurities and need to be adored and controlling, with his lack of healthy fathering ability are becoming more obvious. The TV show kept the charade going, but the public attention created cracks in the armor, as the other women who came into it as believers and very naive started to be more worldly and questioning him. It's not unusual for partnerships to fall apart after the children are grown. But in his religion women obey not question the husband and marry for life. And he obviously hates the media seeing his humiliation so he cast the ones who left him as "bad". Which none of watching the show are buying. It's his ethical dilemma not ours. We know who wears the bad mantle. He was his cake and eat it too. He needed to divide and conquer the family to continue control, to have scape goats was useful. Now they are gone he will find new scapegoats.

I don't believe that Robyn's upbringing has anything to do with anything. Robyn never lived polygamy with the Browns, she kept her kids and herself separate. She pulled Kody away from his original family. I think Robyn fed Kody's ego to the point that he grew apart from Meri, Janelle and Christine.

@@bbearsmama If you go and read comments/Reddit threads or watch videos about people who’ve known the Browns pre-TLC days, they go into a little detail about Kody’s relationship with Winn. I could be wrong, and I might be getting my stories crossed, as I’ve researched a lot about modern United States polygamy, but if I remember correctly, Kody was the only one of his brothers to live the principle. Kody was never his dad’s favorite, and to be quite honest, it sounds like Winn was a real butthole to all of his children. Kody - being the only one to live polygamy out of his brothers - thought “gee, dad will love me now.” And he still didn’t, or not in the way Kody wanted/needed. It really explains the relationship he has with his own kids.
@@GlitterGeekTVI think Kody was teased by some of his guy friends of having homosexual tendencies in one of the earlier episodes. He's deeply insecure about his "manhood", and I think that contributes to his abnormal behaviors and entering into polygamy as well.
All cults breed narcissists. Two things that can cause a child to become a narcissist are putting them on a pedestal, and being overly punative/abusive. Cults do both simultaneously. All children are indoctrinated to believe they are god's chosen people, they are better than everyone else, and everyone else is "worldly", "wicked", etc. At the same time parents are overly strict in raising children and use physical punishments. They often use guilt tripping and shame to keep kids in line. This is a recipe for narcissism. And yeah, I know Kody wasn't raised in the AUB, but the LDS are also a cult with these same elements.
They acted very entitled. As if to say, we have all your dad’s attention now and live in a big house with him. Look where you live! Well, as it turns out, they can have him and his greasy curly hair and worship him all they want. The lucky kids are the ones he no longer wants.
Cody adopted those kids so he could be in total control. He likes to be in control of everyone and if he didn’t adopt him kids, he wouldn’t have no control over them.
It's illegal but not really enforced is certain areas due to the ties to religion. Because of "freedom of religion" a lot of shady behavior is overlooked to avoid the appearance of religious persecution.
Call it what you will but yes, he had two families. She nor her children could be true full about their husband and father. Nor would they have any rights to his estate when he died. I can't understand why any woman would have a family under those conditions.

Robin learned how to play the game. To be the favorite- and headwife. She played it so well, that it backfired. She wanted to be a public plyg-family. Show everyone that it can be done. Receiving lots of public respect and accolades.They failed. The show became a social study of why it doesn't work. She's probably taking this hard. She was the wife being in the best position -everything was great and as it should be, a great reality, life is fair. Christine destroyed everything... She will probably never understand her own role. She provided so much honey, that Kody abandoned his family. Kody let down his family. Forced them away by being a jerk. Does Robin understand that if everything was fine, the wives might have stayed? No reason to go? And she doesn't get to define "fine" for others. Robin outplayed herself. That game doesn't work when the other wives have resources, options or a less stronger belief. Robins old feelings of abandonment and not being seen (she's in a bad light) have probably awakened. And she has to deal with a negative outside world. In ways, she's returned.
Robyn grew up being “a dirty little secret”. There is an episode when they were discussing selling the Vegas houses and she says “my mom didn’t live in Las Vegas with her dad because they didn’t want her growing up in Las Vegas.
These kids were confused about this. They had a Dad that loved and wanted them, whom; the kids had a relationship and obviously loved. Now they have two narcissistic parents raising them in a gloomy and depressing home. I do feel sorry for them.
She never learned polygamy life, because her mother was a mistress who lived in a whole other state from my understanding. Robyn came into the Brown family as a mistress, she couldn’t stand the thought of her living the same life her mother did, so she started plotting.

Robyn cried on the show actually admitted she didn’t want to be the second wife. She probably was crying to Kody about it the whole time they were dating. That’s how she manipulated him into thinking she was a caring and amazing person. They probably got married the first time KNOWING the plan was to divorce Meri.

Honestly Katie, Big Love is what got me into Sister Wives when it started. I really like learning about other cultures and religions, but cults blow my mind. I find them fascinating. My one big thing I always say is "how do people fall for this stuff?!" I really love all the research you share about the cults you cover!❤
Any judge who would grant this request should be sanctioned. Kids aren’t registering because they aren’t allowed to show true emotion about losing their father.

Yeah me too, not one of them looks happy or excited about being adopted by Kody at that point, they don't understand it fully and I think it was painted to be "just paperwork" like Robyn and Kody tried to paint Meri's divorce as "just paperwork". The only people who fully knew and understood what was really happening were Kody and Robyn, first they force Meri into a divorce (telling her and the other wives that nothing will change) so they can legally get married and then he adopts Robyn's children telling them nothing will change and almost immediately stops them from seeing their Dad. Robyn groomed those kids to call Kody Dad from the very beginning knowing that this was always the plan. Then made sure to keep Kody only interested in her and her children by constantly playing the victim.......

Well, it helps to understand ( not excuse) Robyn’s behavior. I hope the public will learn how important the psychological environment that a child grows up in will affect not only their life but all those they have contact with. The damage that one little girl who is emotionally stunted can cause when she grows up can be mind boggling. Collectively as a human race we must do better in order to have a nicer, kinder world. Hurt people hurt people.
So Robyn's bio Mum went from 1st wife to 2nd wife, she had all the power in her first marriage as the legal wife but all the favour in her second marriage as the younger child bearing wife. For Robyn her mother took her away from her father and expected her to call her step dad, dad from early on, she wasn't able to claim him as her dad in public....so my guess is her mother told her all about how much power a first wife has, how much favour a younger wife has and how to keep that favour. So when Robyn married Preston she was first wife and expected to have power over any other wives except Preston didn't want to live polygamy (her excuse of not having time is absolute rubbish they were together and married for years, he just didn't want to) and that meant Robyn had to have a husband full time, so she divorces him and looks for someone who already has a wife or is guaranteed to take on more wives and finds Kody who has 3 wives already who are at the end of the child bearing journeys and who tells her he isn't interested in his first wife any more and she see the opportunity to take first wife position and still be the younger child bearing wife so she gets the power and the favour and is able to be acknowledged and have her children able to be acknowledged by her husband. She knew exactly what she was doing, what she wanted and how to get it because her mother had had both experiences and Robyn was not publicly acknowledged by her father once he remarried and couldn't be acknowledged by her step dad either because of the keeping second wives and children secret. Unfortunately for Robyn, although the other wives had issues they were working as a family, she played her game too well and Kody all but ignored and neglected his other wives and children for her, the other wives recognised it and finally figured out they deserved more and they left leaving Robyn back to being in a monogamous relationship with a husband who says he won't be taking on any more wives so she is right back where she started but with 5 children, a tv show and money to throw around until of course those children grow up and move out, realise what happened and start becoming distant if not leaving full stop, the tv show stops because it's not about "sisterwives" and polygamy anymore as it is only about a monogamous couple which in turn means the money will run out and she will end up back in massive debt at which point she unfortunately will repeat the cycle but be unable to be the child bearing wife, if she wants to move on and still be the favourite and child bearing wife she will need to be moving very quickly as she is now in the position of the og3 where she is coming to the end of child bearing age.

I worked with a girl who grew up very poor with a single mother and one brother and in her adulthood she just became hateful trying to climb to the top over everyone status and prestige became very important to her she made her husband by her $1000 purse for Christmas one year and she posted it on Facebook, he made her take it down. She hounded her mother-in-law for expensive gifts for her children for Christmas such as Apple laptops and would get angry at her when she would tell her she could not afford it to the point that her mother-in-law just started putting those gifts on a credit card to keep the peace, it all came from childhood insecurities. Reminds me of Robyn.
At that age, the kids would have had no clue that adoption ment, that they would never see or be able spend time with their dad again. I am sure it was never explained to them. They were probably told, what adoption ment, glossing over the reality OH it just means your last name will. Then lied to them when they asked later on.
Can you imagine what those kids felt inside being told that they are being adopted when they never knew they were up for adoption? Their reaction speaks volumes. They are being coached and misled to their "happy reaction", it's not authentic. I would be so confused if I was told someone was adopting me when I Already have a Dad! Robyn should have been dragged across the courtroom floor for this manipulation. I feel so bad for her ex because it costs a lot of money for a man to fight a monster like this. Everyone can use the excuse of their childhood, religion etc... as the reason they make the decisions they make because we are all affected by those factors. But when you are a grown ass adult having children, you don't Get the right to that excuse. Now you don't speak for you first, you are the advocate for the child and you parent for Them, Not for yourself and your own shortcomings.
Could you look into Robyns siblings, half and full? Robyn doesnt share a thing on TV so i would love to know how many of her siblings are close to her and how many live this crazy lifestyle. How does Robyns mom live, on paper i assume she never worked, collected welfare and then didnt get anything from Paul after his death??
Speaking of Big Love, I recently watched for first time and realized that's where they got the idea for 2 of Robyn's storylines: the jewelry business and the adoption. There was also a shopping addiction, but I have a feeling that they came by that honestly, without plagiarizing the fictional show.

Robyn didn’t grow up living plural marriage. Her stepdad didn’t even have his wives in the same state. They “shared” his time but it was more like a husband who works on the road, traveling in a regular pattern. Was Robyn’s stepdad a member of the LDS as well as the AUB?
Kody and Robyn both need to be prosecuted because they used polygamy lifestyle to exploit the other wives for financial gain. They both need to go to prison because they are criminals who broke the law.
Polygamy ought to switch over to a matriarchy. The women could own all the property handed down mother to daughter, and the pollinating person, the "husband" could just flutter by as needed.
Also, Joseph Smith kept most of his "spiritual marriages" from his wife Emma, the husbands of some of the wives he claimed for himself, and the community at large. Secrecy was a huge part of the LDS from the beginning.
Watching the show, back then, things were exactly as most of us thought, awful! Most of us saw through Robyn right from the start. I stopped watching around this time. I still saw them on Instagram and talked about them in chat rooms but I really couldn’t believe most of what they were spouting in their tv “chats”!

Robyn has been living the “separate” family form of polygamy so she completely changed what all of the others had been living for years before she came.
this makes perfect sense. this is probably why she wanted to be the legal wife. it was important to her so she could be the one in public in Arizona. maybe this is why Cody never took anyone else out.
