Lovely footage - interesting that Mr. Hitchcock found that broader appreciation in the States - he is so very much an 'English' songwriter. The English tradition that spawned him (and owes as much to Warlock as Barrett) is still there, like a supercharged, sentient, thread of mycelium cutting through the drab paving slab of mediocrity that sits like a smug and self regarding, poisoned dwarf on the 'new' and oh so reduced Britain - a thread then - that still pushes through the odd fruiting body to surprise and delight with incredulity and rude challenge (check out this young busker in Salisbury ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gOyPFY-zU4k.html maybe watch from 25.00 - reckon that's an original song - it's a phone recording and ropey but there are several interesting things in there). Saw Robyn Hitchcock recently in Exeter and then Bath - so impressive, bright and refreshing - all these years down the line. Thanks very much for posting.
