@@scenesthathit1958 This stands apart for the daring one live one-take shows. Never say anything like that in my lifetime. Brought the best of film and stage acting in one show.
I like that they made Andre nuanced. There were a lot of layers on why he didn't kill Roc. You see throughout his run on the show that he actually tries to keep his business quiet and running smooth. Can't do that shooting everyone that upsets you. He also seems to live by a code in terms of what he does for violence and when. When he talks to the kid in prison, he was disgusted that the kid used a drive by shooting like a coward, where he could have hit people not involved in his dispute, rather than walking right up to the person he had a problem with. He's not a senseless killer. And finally I think he saw Roc as an obstacle. But he also saw him as a guy just doing what he felt he needed to do, and was willing to stand up to someone like Andre to do it, while not resorting to trying to seriously hurt him. There was definitely respect there.
Andre respected Roc because he wished that he had the type of honor and pride that Roc had he stepped to him with no gun no people and didn't to take no money or territory. With all the power Andre has he don't like himself like Roc does
I think the biggest reason he didnt kill Roc had more to do with how respected he was in the community. He was everything andre was. Two strong men who stood their ground and were fearless when it came time to make a move. You kill Roc and best believe whatever operation he had going on would have been put to bed. Most drug dealers generally arent callous towards people on the outside and are smart enough to understand that civilian casualties only bring more attention to something that doesnt need it. Roc and Andre were both leaders that just different paths
It’s sad that to this very day, there is no type of programming similar to this on TV right now, not on Fox, not even on outlets like BET, bounce TV, or the 365 network
@@yell0wberry Yeah I know man ever since the 90s Black television has completely went completely down the toilet drain It is just a lot of fluff right now There is a huge amount of situational opportunities that are being missed at this day and time
Yo, Roc was a beast💯 A regular guy who wasn't afraid of the neighborhood villains. He lived his life and just wanted better for his family, but he stayed ready.
*you really felt the Hood in this show....this show really showed true blackness and authenticity and it taught alot of lesson.....need more shows like this*
I can understand Joey been upset but he doesn't understand when drugs get a hold of you no matter how many times you tell yourself you got it you don't
Cocaine IS one hell of a drug But a person can get off a lot of stuff that is on the street Nothing lasts forever and with a couple of things there is no too late
@@thomasbrown3356Exactly! Roc was the big brother he never had. Anybody else would’ve been pushing up daisies messing with Andre. But he respected Roc in a way he didn’t understand himself. That’s a MAN respecting another MAN. 🤓🤓
Andre sence redemtion in the Rock, as he for the first time sees a way to redeem himself. The rock is guidanse and Andre sees hope in him but he dont say it. Andre is tired of his old life.
👍🏿👍🏿🎯🎯🎯✊🏿 every time I take a look at these clips it just reminds me how much that I blew pass this show when it was on the air and I was living my life this show is so relevant today right now
I miss shows with substance & messages like this , glad my formative years were in the “90s”.. you could learn life lessons from the shows & music back then. On a side note I love Clifton Powells work no matter the role
"If you shoot me, you have to shoot everyone in this bar." Andre told his boy to put the gun away. Simple math: The gun has six bullets, the bar has more than six people...Step off, Andre.
different era and a different city. What one could get away with in Baltimore that necessary mean you could get away with in another city or just another part of the city.
"Hey Jackie....." "What do you wan-?" "SHUT UP!!!" "Where's your brother, I need to ask him a few things." "Doesn't he work for y-?" "SAY...... ANOTHER...... MOTHER....
