Im a Blue Jays fan. I have to admit though, I like Rocco Baldelli's reaction both on and off the field. We dont get coaches and managers that speak their minds anymore, and it was good to hear someone use swear words in front of the press.

The game wasn't won or loss on that play. The Twins still had the bottom of the inning to tie it, easier nowadays with a runner on 2nd in extra's. Nobody would complain if this happened in the first 3 innings.

He's not right, Just an hour before this happened the same exact thing happened in Baltimore. Both plays were called out on the field and overturned. Sanchez actually blocked the plate more than the Orioles catcher did so they called it on both and that was the correct call, Now the Baltimore call was less blocking than the Twins call.

He just said what we are all thinking. I’ve seen MUCH more egregious plate blocking dozens of times that never got called. What a joke, and of course it decides the game.

@@MT-eo5vy Nope, Sanchez set up on the inside of the base line and then had to adjust into the baseline to catch the ball. You're allowed to go in the base line if you are moving to catch the ball. Plus, Sanchez had control of the ball before any contact was made.

MLB has literally turned itself into a sick joke in the last 8 years or so. This is just the latest nail in its coffin. Ask yourself, would this call have been overturned like this in the WS? Of course not! So why should it be in a regular season game? Stick a fork in MLB. It's no wonder why it's a dying league, with very few younger fans to sustain it.

This exact call was overturned in Baltimore an hour before it happened to the Twins. The situation in Baltimore was exactly the same and was called an out only to be overturned by replay

yep, I agree. The review is bad for the game I believe. It slows the game down and takes out the human element and makes it look and sound like football. And the overturn of a important play that could cost huge in the final outcome of the season is so bad.

@@alntr2872 Exactly. Too many "other" humans are getting involved in this game who aren't on the field, near it, or worse yet may have never even been on one before. One of many reasons why I stopped watching games years ago and resort to YT for highlights (if that's really what they are anymore).

Rocco is 100 % right. When is mlb gonna quit make up new rules that ruin the game. Extra inning starting at second equates too sissy ball. The blocking the plate rule, if they wanna play that way then put on a skirt

He wasn't right, The same exact play and call was made an hour before in Baltimore. In that game it was the exact same situation and the runner was called out and then it was overturned. Honestly if you watch both plays Sanchez blocks the plate more than the Orioles catcher did. I am glad they call that now, Why should a catcher be able to block the plate before he receives the ball?

Gary did block the plate before securing the ball. The runner 💯 slides foot in before the tag is applied otherwise from the replay. That guy swiped 40 bags east last year in KC

You need to go back and rewatch the play the whole back part of the plate is open and when he catches the ball he drops his knee whit slid into the catcher not the plate

LOL that played was called the same day on Baltimore against Pittsburgh so he doesn't know what he's talking about Open your eyes Rocco the plate was blocked as he was catching the ball. If it had been the other way round he would of agreed with it LOL

Your key to unlocking this is going to be as he was catching the ball. If you look at the angle behind the plate you can clearly see Sanchez give a lane and only when the ball was thrown did he make his move to catch it. He drops a leg down to get the runner in a slide and the runner couldn't have beaten that anyways.
