Who needs electricity? Those orthophonic soundboxes sure can rock. Do you know how the 5A differs from the 5B? A tone comparison would be interesting if you have both types.
in my experience i find that the 5B has less surface noise than the 5A. Depends on what machines they're fitted to, a 5B has better tone and sound on the 102 than a 5A, but a 5A is better on my 157 for example.
@@aces78s That's interesting to know. I have a 104 (their smallest cabinet model) which came with a 5B. Guessing they were made for the smaller horn machines. Not got a 102, but do have a 101, which I find is a good all rounder, giving good results on acoustic & all but the loudest electric records.
I much prefer the 5a it is much brighter but doesn't suit every player. I have both boxes so I'll do a comparison at some point 😎👌 great idea Paul thanks 👍
