I was really excited to play this song, (until I found that I can't play anything faster than 16th notes on one pad -__-). I honestly don't know if it's just the drums, or if it's a processing error like in Rock Band 3. I'm thinking it's the latter, and feel confident there'll be a patch for it. If not, I guess I'll just be sticking to vocals with this game.
Feel free to ignore the commentary in the background if you just want to watch a guy play the song. Sorry.
I figured Rock Band 4 was going to be a dawn of a new day. After years of keeping to myself to focus on my real band, I thought some of us RB2 veterans were going to come back and bring back an old trend... We'll see how that goes.

I have the same problems with the stock kit that came with my copy. Basic beats register, but anything that's complex or any drum rolls, it's horrible. There's a firmware update for the kit. I've heard that's helped some people. But others are still having problems.

Admiralex91 they have an expert +++ mode that has all the ghost and accent notes not seen here. 😼 this is easy expert mode compared to the expert +++ mode

They've been talking about updating the firmware (don't know if you heard about that or not) but MadCatz has a firmware fix for the dropping in the pads, while it helps a lot it's still not at all that responsive. I've been having some serious trouble with my Kick Pedal registering. Another thing I noticed is that this game doesn't seem to have the Velocity Sensor in the pads. Like in previous games a light hit would generate a softer sound and vice versa but this game is just one solid sound for every part, not sure if that's part of the problem or not but anywho I'm hoping they give out a fix for this. Great video man being able to play it with the problems the drums present awesome

Actually, on Images and Words (and When Dream and Day Unite) John Myung used a four string. He switched to six strings on the IaW tour and started using them on albums starting with Awake.

If you don't like the auto fills you can turn them off in the options. Also, unfortunately you have to connect your drums to the PC to download a firmware update so that it helps with fast notes not registering. You can find more info just by googling RB4 firmware update.

+BoWLKuTT i tried doing that on 2 different pcs i downloaded them on both the one picked up the drums via bluetooth but it said error so i got pissed off and quit after 30 mins of trying to get the drums firmware upgraded then i tried it on another pc and bluetooth wouldn't even recognize the drums. Do you think they'll put something for the drums in the december patch or no?

I think I saw on some forums a while back ago where they're going to continue to revise and update the firmware updates based on community feedback. So hopefully it'll become more compatible with your setup.

Just bought Rock Band 4 and the drums have been terrible. They're constantly dropping notes randomly so getting 100% on anything is impossible. Seeing as you've gotten 100% you don't have the same problems. Is there anything I could do to fix the issue because it's really starting to frustrate me. Thanks!

I don't think it's an issue with the drums. The same thing happened to me a bunch of times, but it turned out I just wasn't used to the small lag, and I wasn't actually playing the drums to the beat of the song because of my frustration. You really just need to relax and practice, that's what I did, and now I can get 100% on lots of songs on hard.

Dude, I totally feel you and I'm hoping it won't be long until there's a patch fixing this By the way, do you know if it's still possible to get a destroyer pedal? Or at least a cord that connects my roadie pedal to a stock kit (that's what I used with my IONs back in RB2-RB3)?

I fixed my mine with a firmware update from madcatz, but you need a pc/laptop with bluetooth (with the latest drivers).

Actually, I found out that I didn't do a good job at calibrating the timing the first time around. I also discovered that IONs work on the PS4 version but not the XBOX One version. I'm a PlayStation guy so now I'm back in business!

It's more than likely a processing error. People on reddit have come to the conclusion that the velocity sensitivity of the pads is being misshapen into digital causing some serious lag. Of course, this isn't the only thing that has lag. Freestyle guitar solos have delayed strumming and vocals have delayed feedback. The game calibrates correctly, but the signals aren't being registered as analog. Also, The kick pedal has a certain duration that it has to be pressed in order for it to be counted as a kick. That's why those quick doubles didn't register right.

+deathspike1 I already know how to do heel toe. I have old RB videos of myself doing it. The problem is that the game can't register two kick notes being played that quickly, so I have to trick the timing window to actually hit the notes.

song was written on a 4 string, in fact the entire album was written on a tobias 4 string bass, john myung didnt need the 6 strings until awake, and he hardly uses the high c string on his sixer

Hey, I just wanted to throw this out there. There is a firmware update for the drums. You have to go to the MadCatz website and download it, so it will actually hit the notes properly. I don't know if you have done that yet, but I am just telling you in case you haven't done it yet. After I did the update, I haven't had a single problem with my drum kit. It works great now.

bought an expensive hdmi cable, recal'd, and it fixed a lot of missed notes for me. the one that comes with the ps4 is garbage. good plays my dude. also, if you change to dynamic fills i think you can roll the cymbals or what have you instead of using static fills which are mundane.

+sniperlemming "This kid" seems to have a drawing tablet (behind his WiiU pad), and in that case, a "proper monitor" would be an IPS panel with good color reproduction. So he might want to keep that CRT monitor of his, since CRT monitors are the best when it comes to color reproduction.

dude its ur drumset that cannot process the notes. You can fix it by putting something on it like another rubber pad or a towel over it. Can't explain how it works that way, but it did for me

You should really turn off Dynamic fills and keep it on Classic fills. Best way to play for sure, you get the _actual_ fills in the game. Whether or not the drums let you hit them.

Even after the update for the drums it's still a piece of shit my red pad can't register many notes at a time it's like I don't hit notes on run to the hills I know it's not me cause my guitar works fine. Honestly out of all drum sets RB1 was the best it was loud but accurate.
