ORCA is designed so that you can hang a bunch of carabiners from your rack in their unlocked but ready-to-lock state. When climbing, you quickly can grab the one you need with one hand (since it's not locked), and it automatically will lock when it's placed. Opening and closing the gate triggers the auto lock. R-E also tests every single product -- which is why you will see what appears to be a small ding on them.
