One of the more popular fishing spots in Victoria, we hit up the rocks overlooked by the immense scenery of the Otways. Camping just across the ocean we make an early start, persist through some struggles before finding success on the fish.

Thanks mate. It's a cracking spot always almost guaranteed a few fish. What species comes along though I think is a bit of luck of the draw

You're dead right with the smaller hooks mate.. I've been doing well on small 'whiting rigs' off the surf. Trev's, Mullet, and the ever-present Salmon. Small hooks catch small and big fish... Big hooks rarely catch the smaller species. Great viewing Adz! Thanks mate.

They're a sure bet. At the start out just want to catch a few fish. Can always swap to big hooks later once you've had your fix

hey Adz great vid, you can sashimi most fish but things like flathead are more prone to having parasites since they are bottom feeders, to combat this problem you can freeze it for about a week or if you have a really cold freezer you can do it in a couple of days. you can type up how long to freeze based on how cold the freezer is. can't wait to see you on the tuna, they have been going good here we got one today off cape schank. birds are starting to turn up a bit too which makes it easier.

Yeah makes sense thanks for the info! Planning to hit up the Schank a couple times in the next week or two, fingers crossed we can get at least one, heard you can get unlucky if they're not feeding even if you find em. Will give it a solid crack none the less 🤞🏼

Im keen to give it a go. Might freeze for a day before trying, people are saying they can hold parasites because they are a bottom dweller

@@AdzFishing Japanese here! There's nothing to worry about making sashimi out of Flattie. Never froze them and had any problems. Sometimes you'll see them in a high-end Japanese restaurant in CBD it's that good! Clean the gut out and leave them in the fridge for a couple of days and you'll be good to go, tastes better than freshly cut on the day. You can make sashimi out of anything but stay away from calamari and mackerel sashimi. Both are doable and taste amazing esp calamari but require certain techniques to spot/eliminate stringy parasites. All the best :)

Interesting to know why it's the case tho. Can't help but think flatty sashimi would go off its head

@@AdzFishing I think it’s because of the fat content and the fact they are always moving so the meat is semi cooked or red flesh
