Thank you for doing this. I use Sargent Art liquid gesso, but after I run out I will be switching to the Liquitex white gesso.

The difference is kind of mind blowing! 😃 And I was pleasantly surprised that the cost ended up being better, too!

I use the Liquitex gesso for my paintings and prep for ALL my canvases. It's hands down the best. Not "cheap" but it's worth prepping your surfaces for any paint work with a good base.

It has become a staple for me so that I don't have to use a million coats of the color! Since my canvases are smaller than yours, so far it's lasted me quite a while! 😉

Awesome! This will be the next one I get after I use up all the one I got from Walmart. Great comparison video. Really helped a lot! Thank you! ♥️

Great info! Have you ever tried Krylon Spray Gesso? Thanks!

I have not, this is the first time I've ever heard of it! What an interesting concept if you completely cover your rocks in color and need a base coat!

What’s the diff between the liquitex basics and the prof liquitex gesso? (Blue bottle). Thx

I was not sure and had to ask Google! It looks like the basic is a thinner consistency with less coverage, and the professional has a better coverage, to the point where some people feel comfortable using it as a white background. Good to know, I think when I need to reorder, I'll get the professional! :)

This is helpful, thanks! Do you have a clear gesso you prefer? I want to do natural rocks but with some gesso to make them easier to write on. Also, do you have an Amazon shop/list where I can see/purchase supplies you rec? I appreciate what you're doing and want to support you. I am needing some decent paint brushes, too - for rocks and other items I paint. The Michael's and Walmart ones just aren't cutting it (esp. for fine details). TIA, Jessica!

You know, I haven't tried clear gesso yet, and you're reminding me I need to! I would probably default to starting with the Liquitex brand because I like their white gesso. And I feel like they make really decent, but affordable products. You will laugh, but I seem to keep coming back to the Walmart brushes! 😆 I do have an Amazon storefront where I keep lists of all my favorite things: www.amazon.com/shop/jessicarocks. Feel free to bookmark it, and I appreciate the support!!

@@JessicaRocks thanks! The Liquitex clear is pretty pricey, so I'm still wavering about that, but I "get" that they're good quality. Lol, I've been using Walmart Royal and Langnickel brushes with acrylic handles (no worries about water issues with wood handles) and they don't keep their shape (could be me, too), making detail work hard. But, I just realized, I use a LOT of glitter paints, which could be hard on them (plus any rough rock or other surfaces). Hmmm, may need to get a set that I don't use with glitter/rough surfaces. I'll check out your list, thanks! 🩵

@@JessicaRocks ohhh, I'm definitely getting the brush cleaner! I think that will help! Thanks, again!

I have been pretty happy with my Walmart brushes. I recently got some from Hobby Lobby, and like the Walmart ones, better, but I do replace them every now and then. They are cheap enough that you could probably have a set just for glitter paints? I have had really good luck for detail work with the disposable eyeliner brushes, and I don't throw them away after one use...they last for a really long time!
