Arjan Lucassen, the guy who plays guitar and synths, writes the music. He is a great composer and musician. He invites a lot of musicians and singers for his music. They do this even life with a lot of famous musicians and singers. The “freddy mercury” is Tommy from Kamelot. I vote for “spring”. Thank you for this reaction.

i would suggest "Valley of the Queens" - again by Ayreon (the mastermind behind Aryeon is Arjen Anthony Lucassen). Three of the best female metal singers on the planet doing something very surprising.

Well, if you're lucky, Arjen - the tall guy changing t-shirts who is behind all of this - sees this and responds. Wouldn't be the first time I see that. The man is a legend!

Floor is also a huge Queen fan and has stated that if she could only see one band's live performance it would be Freddie Mercury. Floor has performed with Tommy Karevik (Freddie Mercury guy) and both are frequently featured in Arjen's rock operas.

Ayreon is a prog rock/metal project created by the Dutch multi instrumentalist Anthony Lucassen since the middle 90s. You should watch the live versions of "Everybody dies" and "Valley of the queens" from Ayreon Universe Best of Ayreon live. Pure magic!! P. S. This genius is called Arjen, he brings in different singers each album where each singer is a character in a story. Each album is like a book or a movie, and listening to an album from start to finish in one go is like watching a movie from beginning to end! Arjen Anthony Lucassen is, as you have been told, the genius songwriter behind this. "Ayreon" is just one of his projects that he writes music for, with specific artists in mind. Ayreon usually deals with science fiction themes, and Arjen's work includes songs about the movie Stargate and British TV show Blakes 7. Part of the reason so many great artists all over the world cooperate with him is that he seems be literally the nicest person in the world. (Plus the already mentioned genius of course.) Arjen is known to occasionally turn up in RU-vid comments sections, where he is always polite, encouraging, and grateful to reactors. I know he is very busy but fingers crossed he shows up here!

Ayreon is one of the most unique music projects I know. I think its realy crazy what one man with a brilliant mind can accomplish. Btw. The "Dad of three daughters" is a brilliant singer and his band "Blind Guardian" is highly influencial for decades. If I may suggest. "Blind Guardian - The Bard's Song & Valhalla - Live at Wacken Open Air 2016" This video shows exactly what this band is all about!

Hi Anastasia, i think Arjan is going to like your reaction very much if he sees it. I sure did and have listened to some of your work. I'm not a musician but i have this feeling your vocal range is far bigger than what i've heard so far, certainly a beatiful tone to your voice.

The singer at about 19 minutes is Russell Allen who sings primarily for Symphony X. He also sings for the East coast lineup of TransTrans-Siberian Orchestra.

Best way to enjoy Ayreon is to listen the albuns in order and in one go, each song is a piece of the history and complement each other. My favourite albuns are The human equation and 01011

The fellow singing the 1000101100 etc. part is Michael Mills. He has a really incredible vocal range and plays are large array of instruments. He has a band called "Toehider", which I'm told is a play on the Dutch word for "Listener" and is for all intents and purposes Michael Mills doing everything himself. Really cool music, you might want to search out "How Much for that Dragon's Tooth" and "Whatever Makes You Fell Superior" to get some ideas what he is about. On this track (and in the album, and the live shows) he plays a character called TH1, an android that helps to save humanity. And the 1001010 whatever turns out to be the ASCII encoding of the string "trustTH1"

The guy that you like his voice is Tommy from Kamelot. Check kamelot Live "Sacrimony with Elize (from amaranthe) and Alissa (from arch enemy). Also you can check the awesome video of kamelot "liar liar"🤘

This is the first song of the rock opera (this is how I like to call this) The Source. All the characters are being introduced. Please also check out Ayreon - Valley of the Queens. You will absolutely love it.

The 01-guy is the machine TH1 in this rock opera (The Source). If you translate the binary code it says “trust th1”.

One of the things I love about Ayreon is it reminds me of the old "all stars" bands. Musician/songwriters would go on the road and meet up with each-other and "studio" artists normal people never head of, and perform not just at dive's, but also record their performances and/or stop at various studios. It's actually what the band from "The Blues Brothers" was kind of a parody of, as evidenced by all the big-name studio artists in said band. You know the song "sitting on the dock of the bay"? Yeah, Steve "The Colonel" Cropper wrote that. Otis Redding just walked away with most of the credit. Probably the biggest all-star band we ever had came about in the '80's. The Traveling Wilburys. You know you've got an all-star lineup when Jeff Lynne from ELO is the "who's that one" guy. Any time you can get together the best of the best of the best, it's amazing.

it's pronounced Air - E - On. don't feel bad. you're not the first to be confused. it's a tremendous project. the live performances are out of this world. Literally. you see Arjen playing the guitars, bass, keyboards, synth, and organ. he wrote the lyrics and music, and invited all the other musicians and singers to participate. fits the definition of a "super group", involving members of different bands participating in a single project. for the 2017 live show, they had between 20 - 30 people, all coming out to perform different songs from different Ayreon albums. some that you see here were there. others couldn't make it for various reasons. there are others there that weren't on this particular song or album, but have contributed to different albums.

Every Ayreon CD is a concept album with Multiple vocalists and instrumentalists. Arjen Lucasson is the mad genius of the project. You don't have to react to it, but I "highly" suggest checking out his 2004 release The Human Equation.

First of all, welcome to the Ayreon universe. Ayreon is a musical project created by the Dutch multi-instrumentalist Arjen Anthony Lucassen in 1995. In every Ayreon album, Arjen composes a greater 95% of music and texts average and plays electric guitars, acoustic guitars, electric bass, synth and keyboards, and invites several guest vocalists to join him to play a part in his own metal operas. The Ayreon's album sequence is the following one: 1) in 1995 Arjen created the first Ayreon album "The Final Experiment", talking about the story of a blind ministrel of the 6th century britain, named Ayreon, who receives from the future visions of humanity decline and tries to sing about these visions to save the world from its own downfall. The prologue of this album is that in the year 2084 a.d. (chosen by adding 100 years to 1984 referring to George Orwell's most famous novel) mankind has virtually destroyed itself, it's survival depends on the final experiment. 2) Ayreon's second album "Actual Fantasy" (1996) is the only Ayreon album not being a concept album, but it is a group of song each of them narrating story related to science-fiction themes or fantasy themes 3) in 1998, "Into the Electric Castle" talked about eight different characters each of them taken by a different historical age of the earth, that are brought to another dimension and are given a quest by a mysterious alien presence, to go through this unknown land to find the electric castle and try to survive it to go back home. It is the first album to talk about the alien race named "forever", but this seems to be a completely different story from the first two albums 4) in 2000 "Universal Migrator" an album split in two different parts, each of the released as a unique album [pt1: the Dream Sequencer] and [pt2: flight of the migrator]. This is the first album to make clear that all the stories told by "The Final Experiment" and "Into the Electric Castle" are connected to create a bigger picture, a real "Ayreon Universe" 5) in 2004 "The Human Equation", that seems to be disconnected by the "Ayreon Universe" big picture, until the last 30 seconds of the last song, in which it is revealed that the story developed all through the album is a program run by the Forever race to try to solve "The Human Equation" in order to save us and them from the final catastrophe. 6) in 2008 there are two events: --> a) the album 01011001 (binary code for the letter "Y") is declared by Arjen to be the final chapter of the "Forever race saga" and reveals that the Forever alien race is the human race ancestor arrived from another planet after a global catastrophe and they are guiding our evolution from the dawn of human race until now to make us save them from their destiny --> b) the best of "Timeline" contains a poster describing how all the album related to the "Forever Saga" are connected and their own part in the "Ayreon Universe big picture", and contains also a new song "Epilogue: The Memory Remains" that is the final epilogue of the "Forever Saga" 7) in 2013 the album "The Theory of Everything" is the first Ayreon concept album completely disconnected by the "Forever Saga" telling about the research of a father and his son of the theory of everything 8) in 2017 with the album "The Source" Arjen returns to his beloved "Forever race" characters, telling us the prequel of the Forever Saga, explaining us where they lived, what was the extinguishing event they have to face, what caused that event, and how the Forever race faced it. 9) in 2020 with the title "Transitus" Arjen created a complete different story, set on earth in the 19th century, and being a tragic love story with dark and gothic vibe. This album was conceived to be a musical, so there are more songs each of them being shorter than an average Ayreon's song. In more than 25 years of Ayreon, they released only three live albums: The Theater Equation (a live performance of the album "The Human Equation"); Ayreon Universe (a live performance with a best of the songs created by Arjen for Ayreon and Star-One projects); Electric Castle Live and Other Tales (a live performance of the album "Into the Electric Castle" and a selection of 1 song for every Arjen's side project + the Marillion song "Kayleigh" performed by Fish, the original Marillion singer, that has played the "Highlander" part in the Arjen's metal opera). Each one of these live performances deserves to be considered a masterpiece in the music history. Arjen also released a lot of other music throughout the years, with many side-projects as "Ambeon", "Star One", "Guilt Machine", "Stream of Passion" , "The Gentle Storm" and his own solo albums. When he creates new music, he creates music, words, story and everything else and when he feels the real mood of what he's creating, he decides if the following creation will be an Ayreon album, another of his own existing side-projects, or a complete new side-project. Fun fact is that Floor Jansen has been a guest vocalist for Arjen since 2000 when she appeared on Universal Migrator. Since then she was a guest in Arjen's project in both the project Star One's albums and in the "01011001" Ayreon album. Simone sings on a lot of Ayreon songs. Check out the Ayeron live show Into the Electric Castle and Other Tales..Simone is in it like many, many others. The whole show is a blast! And indeed almost all instruments on the studio albums are played by the master himself, dutchman Arjen Lucassen. He is Ayreon, he writes / composes all the music, lyrics.

I knew you'd love this! Arjen Anthony Lucassen is the (Dutch) composer and plays all of the guitars and all keyboards apart from the Grand Piano, which is played by Joost van den Broek. The other singers and instrumentalists are all named in this song by Arjen in his commentary, which you have to put your glasses on and follow carefully on at least one listen through - I promise it is worth your time to do so. Apart from anything, his sense of humour will probably crack you up! Don't be surprised if the great man (and that can be taken literally - he is 6'8" tall) drop in to leave a comment, as he engages strongly with reactors, and will even clear copyright issues to help get reactions out. I've taken the liberty of sharing this with him on Twitter, so the odds are in your favour! If he comments, I strongly recommend pinning it! Ayreon is more of a project than a band and one of several he keeps going with occasional updates. He chooses the finest and most appropriate musicians from around the world to collaborate with on his projects, and if he picks you, you have made it. Being selected by Arjen for one of his leading roles is possibly the highest accolade any rock singer can aspire to. He rarely appears live himself, preferring his own studio, where he mixes and produces all his amazing work. Some singers and most instrumentalists come to him to record, but less frequently those singers from further away. Michael Mills, for example (who sings the part of TH-1, the android/robot which is independent of the supercomputers and is on the survivors' side) is Australian, so sends his parts in from there. Ayreon is not a band, as such, but one of the many musical projects of Dutch composer/multi-instrumentalist/producer Arjen Lucasson (the guy narrating the video, playing the guitars, bass and keyboards). All Ayreon albums are concept albums that tell a story. He gets too-notch singers from all over the world to play the various characters in the story. You should send him a sample. Also, don’t be surprised if he comments on this reaction…he does that sometimes.

Ayreon (accent on the first syllable) is the brainchild of the guitarist, Arjen Anthony Lucassen. If you like thi, check out his other project, Star One, which is basically the same thing by a different name. Or even his solo stuff. And yes, it's big on telling stories and taking you on journeys. He especially likes outer space and ancient Egypt.

Fish, Bruce Dickinson, Rick wakeman, keith emerson, Jordan Rudess....Last album for example Joe Satriani and Dee Snider (from Twisted Sister). And the list goes on and on and on. Just watch some liver performances like Twisted Coil, Into the black hole or everybody dies, star of Sirrah. But also watch one of his other projects "Star One", soon there will be more info concerning his new album. And believe me, that will be a special album :)

If you want a really fun Ayreon reaction, do Intergalactic space Crusaders From the Ayreon Universe Concert. Arjen Lucasson, composer, writer, guitarist and keyboard player of Ayreon is a science fiction nerd and a ton of his music has to do with that. And you should also listen to Blind Guardian. Its the band fronted by Hansi Kursch who you kind of thought was an old guy. Listen to their song Nightfall live from their Wacken 2011 Show. Its also incredible.

Yes what a amazing song, i never did see anything like this one before, and i got the same feeling as you, that i need to listen to this track 15 more times now, I also really like the way Arjan did approch this project, he seems like a very cool guy, with a lot of funny ideas, and all the people that participated in this video, i feel like is worth checking out more... Ayreon Universe is probably your next stop in this stream of music...Everybody Dies, Star of Sirrah, And the Druids Turn to Stone, Valley of the Queens (with Arjen's three Queens!!) the whole concert was incredible and whilst the songs are taken out of context in this format if you are a melody over lyrics person I think you will enjoy them immensely :D

"The Freddy Mercury guy" is Tommy Karevik, singer of Kamelot. I think his vocals are amazing whatever thing he sings. I strongly suggest to listen to "Under Grey Skies", "Sacrimony", "Phantom Divine", "Liar Liar" by Kamelot with him.

My vote for "Spring" as first. 👍 Arjen Lucassen is one of top 3 European composers - same level as Tuomas from Nightwish. He has been working with over 100 top singers and musicians from all over the world, during his projects - he started working with Floor back in 2000. This is a continuous story during different albums - and it is written by Arjen Lucassen, but he gets inspiration from his fans, who comes up with ideas, angels and keeps him on track with the story. His way of working is different from most others - he starts with the riffs and melodies, and then adds the lyrics afterwards. The 0 and 1 are binary - Michael Mills plays the role of a robot TH1. And Arjen Lucassen likes to draw the "Floor" card at the end, because she is so powerful. He also uses Floor's sister Irene very often and she is also a great and powerful singer. You should explore more of Ayreon / Arjen - he will inspire you - and who knows - he might give you a call one day, while he is very active on the social media, finding new "rekruts" to his projects. Didn't see it yet in the comments, but the guitarist is indeed the composer: Arjen Lucassen. He couldn't call his 'one man band' Arjen, because nobody would know how to pronounce that. I do, because I am from the Netherlands too; it is "Aryen" (emphasis on A) He made it into 'Ayreon' because that looks cool.

The cool thing about Ayreon is that all the albums sort of tie into the same story. 'The Source' (the album which this song is from) is technically the start of the story. It's about a race of humans that give control of their planet to a computer (the 'frame) to help solve an environmental catastrophe, but the computer determines that the best course of action is to eliminate the humans. Ten humans and the robot TH-1 escape the planet on the only interstellar ship they have (the 'Starblade') along with the ships crew and head to an ocean planet. The chemist creates a drug ('The Source', aka 'Liquid Eternity') that allows them to evolve into an 'aquatic race'. The drug also makes them basically immortal and allows them to communicate telepathically. The album ends with the survivors (ten plus the ships small crew) living on their new planet ('Planet Y') in relative peace, but in the final track we learn that TH-1 is becoming a new version of the 'frame deep in the ocean. The next album in the timeline, 01011001 ('Y') tells us how machines have now taken over this new planet, and the humans have basically merged with the machines are losing their emotions and sense of time. They now call themselves 'The Forever', since they are essentially ageless drones at this point. We also learn about how they seeded a comet with DNA and sent it to Earth, where it creates human life on our planet. The Forever believe they can live through us telepathically and that they may regain their emotions by doing so. Some of The Forever believe that we need to advance more quickly, and use their telepathy to give us medicine/technology, but this results in us advancing quicker than our morality can cope with. Eventually The Forever realize humanity is doomed and has to decide if they will give them the technology to reverse their past mistakes.

What a nice reaction! Glad to see that you enjoyed it so much. Since they're not a band, but a collective of guest singers and musicians, invited by the mastermind composer Arjen Lucassen, it's kinda hard to schedule live concerts. But there is a concert called "Ayreon Universe", released in 2018, from which you can take some really nice (and rare) Ayreon live videos to react to. My suggestion surely won't be the most popular here, but it's an awesome song and one of the few where you will see Arjen himself onstage rocking out with the guitar. Oh, and you'll also see the guy who sang the zeros and ones in this one doing the introduction, all dressed in his futuristic sci-fi costume.
